Chapter 508 Shy
Simon took out the needle and massaged Nicholas' legs. "How do you feel now?"
Nicholas' heart raced a bit. He felt some sensation but stayed calm. "A slight tingling."
Simon squinted, satisfied.
"Simon, can his legs be cured?" Caroline asked, not realizing she was worried about Nicholas.
Simon nodded. "Sure, as long as he cooperates."
Caroline turned to Nicholas. "Josie always wanted you to hold her, carry her, and lift her high."
She knew Nicholas cared about Josie and hoped he'd go through with the treatment for her.
Nicholas felt happy inside, realizing Caroline still cared. He didn't want to let her down and was determined to cure his legs. "I'll do my best, Mr. Williams."
After Diana got the bone marrow donation, she started to recover, but the illness had taken a toll. Linda did everything to help her regain strength.
Finally, Diana was discharged from the hospital.
Linda and Daniel picked her up and brought her to The Wolf Villa.
It was Diana's first time at The Wolf Villa.
With Linda's support, Diana got out of the car and looked around the luxurious villa, thinking, 'Is this my home?'
She was born into a wealthy family but got separated, and her life changed dramatically.
Her adoptive parents were well-off, running a small business, but compared to the Wolf family, they were nothing.
"Come, Diana, sit here for a bit." Linda helped Diana to the couch and asked a servant to bring warm water for Diana's medicine.
Diana took her medicine obediently.
"Do you still have energy? Want me to show you around?" Linda noticed Diana seemed to like the place.
Diana nodded happily.
Linda got a wheelchair and pushed Diana around the villa, giving her a tour.
"You used to love this swing when you were little." Linda looked at the old swing, remembering how often she stared at it, lost in thought.
Now she didn't have to dwell on the past.
"Remember? You fell off once and cried loudly." Linda's memories of Diana were vivid.
Diana replied, "I don't remember anything from before I was two."
Two-year-olds can remember things, but not well. After so many years, it was normal for Diana to forget.
Seeing her upset, Linda comforted her, "It's okay if you don't remember. I'll tell you all about it."
"Okay, thanks, Mom." Diana hugged Linda's arm affectionately.
"Are you tired? Want to rest?"
"Okay."
Linda had always kept her daughter's room, updating the decorations every year.
Before Diana was discharged, Linda redecorated the room with things Diana liked.
When Linda and Diana entered the house, they saw Mia and Daisy in the living room.
"Aunt Linda, Diana, where did you go?" Daisy asked.
Linda replied, "I took Diana for a walk."
Mia asked, "Why is Diana out of the hospital so soon?"
"She's recovering well," Linda said, sounding relieved.
Mia's eyes flashed with a complex look as she saw Diana's smile. Her hand slowly clenched. 'This imposter Diana actually survived and is being valued by Linda and Daniel. Daniel must not realize Diana is a fake, or Linda wouldn't be so protective.'
"This is wonderful, Linda. We all welcome Diana. How about hosting a party to introduce her to your friends?" Mia suggested.
Linda declined, saying Diana had just recovered and a party would be too exhausting. She decided to wait until Diana was stronger.
Mia and Daisy stayed for about ten minutes before Linda took Diana to rest, and they left.
In the car, Daisy asked, "Mom, does Diana know her identity?"
Mia replied, "She probably doesn't know yet."
"Then..."
Mia shook her head. "Let's not alarm them for now. We'll observe Diana a bit more."
"Okay."
In the evening, when Daniel came home and saw Diana, he felt conflicted.
"Dad, eat more," Diana offered at the dinner table.
Daniel forced a smile. "Okay, you eat more too."
A trace of bitterness appeared in his heart. His biological daughter was suffering somewhere unknown.
There was a commotion at the entrance.
"Paul, come in and eat," Clayton said, pulling Paul inside.
Paul had been pestered by Clayton all day, who insisted on having him drive him home.
"I..."
"Is that Paul?" Linda's voice interrupted.
"It's me," Paul replied.
"Come in."
Clayton pulled Paul into the dining room and had him sit down.
Paul greeted Daniel.
Seeing Paul, Diana shyly lowered her head. 'This man is too handsome, even more charming than a celebrity.' Her heart raced. She hadn't felt this way in a long time. Since her ex-boyfriend abandoned her after she got sick, she had been disheartened. But seeing Paul now, her heart seemed to come alive again.
"Who is this?" Paul asked.
"This is my daughter, Diana."
Paul was surprised. "This is the daughter you found? Diana?"
"Yes, hello," Diana shyly greeted Paul.
She kept her head down, and Linda couldn't see her expression. Hearing her soft voice, Linda thought she was timid and comforted her. "Don't be afraid, Paul is familiar with us."
"Okay."
Paul didn't like weak girls like Diana. He glanced at her and then looked away, responding when Daniel started a conversation.
Paul had dinner at The Wolf Villa, and after he left, Diana was still looking towards the entrance. Daniel sighed softly, "Paul actually has a talent for business, but he just likes to play around and never takes things seriously. If he could be more serious, the Thomas family would definitely reach new heights."
Linda agreed.
Clayton felt proud hearing Daniel praise Paul.
Meanwhile, Diana felt even more infatuated and secretly resolved to get better. 'But would someone as excellent and handsome as Paul like an ordinary girl like me?' Diana's inner insecurities began to surface.
