Chapter 553 Who is the Illegitimate Child

Melissa got called out in public for swiping students' papers and holding back their diplomas out of spite.

Caroline knew Melissa inside out; she wasn't that kind of person at all.

But once the accuser dropped some so-called evidence, everyone started side-eyeing Melissa. A few more folks even piped up, saying that award-winning paper Melissa published two years ago was also jacked from a student.

This whole mess blew up in City B's academic scene, and the drama just kept spreading.

Caroline had a hunch that this whole thing, just like when she got reported, was probably Daisy's doing.

So when Daisy hit her up wanting to meet, Caroline was like, "Sure, why not."

Clutching her handbag strap tight, Caroline took the elevator up.

The recovery facility was super quiet, except for the occasional baby crying.

Caroline found Daisy's room and knocked.

"Come in."

Yep, that was Daisy's voice.

Caroline pushed the door open and walked in.

Daisy was playing with Trevor. She barely glanced at Caroline, just kept poking Trevor's cheek.

Caroline stood there, just watching.

Her eyes landed on Trevor. He had his eyes open and looked super cute, kinda like Daisy.

'Is this kid Nicholas's?' Caroline was really unsure.

After a bit, the nanny finished tidying up the clothes.

Daisy finally spoke, "Go get the guest a glass of water."

The nanny nodded and left.

Now it was just Caroline, Daisy, and Trevor in the room.

"This is my son with Nicholas. Isn't he adorable?" Daisy looked at Trevor with all the mom vibes. When she looked up, her eyes were full of pride and a bit of a challenge. "His name is Trevor, and he's gonna be the sole heir of the Watsons."

Caroline gave a small smile. "Ms. Wolf, did you call me here just to brag about having a son?"

There was a pinch in her heart, not 'cause Daisy had a son, but for Josie's past life with the Watsons.

Seeing Daisy so smug, Caroline knew the Watsons valued Trevor more and would rather not have Josie, the girl.

Good thing she had already taken Josie away. Otherwise, if she never knew Josie was still alive, what kind of rough life would Josie have had?

Caroline pushed down the pain in her heart, stood tall, and looked down at Daisy.

"Your kid's got nothing to do with me. If you thought showing me this would make me jealous or whatever, you're wrong."

Daisy smirked, "Caroline, you can't beat me. I had a kid for the Watsons. In the future, all the Watsons' stuff will go to my son Trevor, and your daughter Josie will get zilch."

"In the future, Nicholas will be with me for Trevor's sake, and you'll get nothing."

"Instead of getting nothing later, why not now? I'll give you some gifts, and you take Josie and vanish from Nicholas's life forever."

"What gifts?" Caroline asked.

Daisy didn't expect Caroline to be so blunt. She hadn't really thought about what exactly to offer.

She paused for a couple of seconds.

"What do you want?"

Caroline said casually, "One billion dollars."

Daisy scoffed, "You're dreaming. You think I'm made of money?"

"Let me do some math," Caroline said, counting on her fingers. "Nicholas is worth over ten billion dollars, right? With how he feels about me, he might just leave all his money to Josie in the future."

"Maybe I'll even get half of it. So, asking you for a billion is actually a bargain."

"You!" Daisy was so mad she could barely breathe.

Caroline's face turned icy. She glared at Daisy. "Was it you who had someone smear my mentor Melissa?"

Daisy smirked. "If she's innocent, why worry about a few students reporting her? Feeling guilty, are we?"

"You're a piece of work," Caroline snapped.

If she could, she would've slapped Daisy right then and there.

So it was Daisy behind all this.

Caroline stepped closer, eyes blazing, and grabbed Daisy by the collar.

"Listen up, you can mess with me all you want, but you leave my teacher out of it!"

"Daisy, the more you pull this crap, the tighter I'll hold onto Nicholas. I'm an orphan with nothing. No background, no support. I need someone stronger than the Wolfs, and Nicholas is my ticket."

Daisy was shaken by Caroline's fierce look. She clutched the blanket tightly.

"You wouldn't dare!"

"Why wouldn't I? I've already been called a mistress; what else do I have to lose?"

Daisy raised her hand to slap Caroline, but Caroline dodged, let go of her, and avoided the hit.

Daisy lost her balance and smacked her hand against the crib frame.

With a loud thud, Caroline winced just hearing it.

Trevor started wailing, and Daisy's hand hurt so much she couldn't even scream.

The nanny rushed in with a glass of water. Hearing Trevor cry, she quickly put down the water and picked him up to soothe him.

Daisy shook her aching hand, eyes red with fury as she glared at Caroline.

"Caroline, you can forget about taking Nicholas from me. Nicholas is mine, the father of my child!"

"Whether he's the father of your kid, I don't know, but he's definitely Josie's dad."

"You... That night, Nicholas and I hooked up. We were in love and couldn't help ourselves. Caroline, who do you think you are? And what about Josie? She's just an illegitimate kid you had out of wedlock. The Watsons don't acknowledge her at all. It was me who convinced Aragorn and Gummidge to give Josie a complete family."

"Who are you calling an illegitimate child!"

A deep, angry voice filled the room, making Daisy shiver.

Sharpe wheeled Nicholas in. Nicholas's face was dark, his eyes sharp and locked onto Daisy.

"Nicholas." Daisy tried to explain, but it was like an invisible hand was choking her.

"Doctor." Nicholas didn't give her a chance to speak. A doctor came in with two nurses.

They went straight to Trevor.

The nanny froze, and a nurse took Trevor away.

"Where are you taking Trevor?" Daisy panicked, trying to get out of bed to stop them, but a nurse blocked her.

The doctor quickly drew blood.

Once they were done, they handed Trevor back to the nanny and left the room.
