Chapter 762 Is It Beautiful?
Alex heard a sound and instinctively turned around. "What's wrong with you?"
Clara was holding her waist. "It hurts."
Alex said, "I'll call a doctor for you."
"No need." Clara pointed to the painkillers on the table. "Just get me a pill."
Alex walked over, broke off a pill, and handed it to her.
Clara opened her mouth and wondered, 'Did she want him to feed her?'
Alex frowned.
Clara glared at him. "What are you standing there for? Do you want me to die from the pain?" She opened her mouth again.
Alex was speechless. He just wanted to leave after she took the pill, so he tossed the pill into her mouth.
The pill got stuck in Clara's throat. She coughed it out, but it was stuck near her tonsils and wouldn't come out.
She was furious.
Alex panicked a bit and clumsily handed her the water from the table. "Drink some water, it will go down."
When Clara raised her hand, it pulled on her fractured area, causing her so much pain she almost screamed.
She hurriedly drank the water. Clara choked and coughed violently, which made her pain even worse.
"Slow down, why are you drinking so fast?" Alex was just Gabriel's assistant and had no experience in taking care of people, let alone a patient.
Seeing Clara reacted so strongly to the pill, he was stunned. He even thought Clara was too fragile, choking on a pill and water, like a porcelain doll.
Clara was furious. After finally calming down, her eyes were red, and tears welled up. "Alex, what did I ever do to you? Are you trying to burn me to death?"
The water in the cup was freshly poured by the nurse and still hot. Alex had handed it to her without checking the temperature.
Alex was stunned, then touched the cup. The scalding sensation made him pull his hand back immediately.
"Sorry, I didn't notice." Alex apologized immediately, "I'll get you some fresh water."
Clara refused, "No need."
She felt she might be dead before she could teach Alex properly.
Alex was such a heavy-headed man.
Alex felt guilty. He had promised Ruth to take care of Clara but hadn't done a good job.
He stood there with a frown, silent for a while, then went out to get Clara a cup of warm water.
The pill Clara had coughed out was still on the floor, unhandled.
Alex handed her the cup. "The temperature is just right, drink some."
Clara glanced at him indifferently. The bitter taste of the pill still lingered in her mouth, so she needed some water to wash it down.
She took the cup. This time, the water was at a suitable temperature, warming her stomach.
Alex took a tissue, picked up the pill from the floor, wrapped it in the tissue, and flushed it down the toilet. Then he came back and gave Clara another painkiller.
"Painkillers should be taken sparingly; they hurt your stomach," Alex reminded.
Clara snorted and turned her head away, not wanting to talk to him.
"Miss Taylor, if there's nothing else, I'll..."
"There is." Clara huffed, "You hurt me and now you want to leave?"
"When did I hurt you?" Alex was puzzled.
Clara replied, "You burned my tongue and made my throat hurt from coughing."
He felt Clara was being unreasonable. "What do you want?"
The nurse came in with a food box. "Miss Taylor, your food is here."
Clara's eyes darted around. "Stay and have a meal with me."
Alex remembered the task Ruth had given him and agreed. He pulled up a chair and sat by the bed.
Clara gave the nurse a look, and the nurse understood, finding an excuse to leave.
Clara said, "It hurts when I move. Open the food box for me."
Alex obediently did so and even handed the food box to her.
Clara demanded, "Feed me, and do it properly this time."
'Feeding someone seemed a bit too intimate, doesn't it?' Alex wondered.
Alex frowned, instinctively wanting to refuse and call the nurse back to feed Clara.
Clara suddenly lay on the pillow and started crying.
Alex was very confused. 'Why is she crying all of a sudden?'
"Why are you crying?" Alex asked stiffly.
Clara replied, "I'm so pitiful. No family to accompany me in the hospital, and I can't even eat by myself."
Clara cried so sadly, like a child without candy.
Alex's heart softened. He reached out, hesitated in mid-air, then finally picked up the utensils.
"I'll feed you."
Clara said, "I don't need you to feed me. Don't force yourself."
Alex answered, "I'm not forcing myself. Just stop crying."
He couldn't stand seeing women cry, and her crying made him feel like he had wronged her.
Some patients' families were curiously peeking in from the doorway.
"You won't even let me cry." Clara accused.
Alex was shocked. "I'm not stopping you from crying. Cry if you want."
Clara said, "You actually want me to cry."
He felt like he couldn't explain himself no matter what he said.
Alex fell silent. Clara, seeing she had made her point, opened her mouth.
Like a child waiting for candy.
Alex, learning from the earlier experience, carefully fed a bite of food into Clara's mouth.
Clara smiled slightly. She was stunningly beautiful. Even now, sick and lying sideways on the bed without much grace, she still retained her allure.
Watching her red lips move as she chewed, her elegant, swan-like neck, Alex was completely captivated.
"What are you looking at? I want some vegetables!" Clara shouted.
Alex snapped back to reality and quickly fed her some vegetables.
After that, he didn't dare look at Clara's lips or neck again while feeding her.
"Alex," Clara called him.
"Hmm?" Alex responded absentmindedly.
Clara looked at him deeply. "Do you think I'm beautiful?"
"What?" Alex looked at her, meeting her teasing and beautiful eyes. He suddenly felt shy and looked away, pretending it was unintentional.
"Am I beautiful?" Clara continued.
"Miss Taylor, of course, you're beautiful." Alex nodded.
"How beautiful?" Clara asked.
Alex thought for a moment. "As beautiful as a movie star."
"Do you think beautiful women find it easy to get boyfriends?"
Alex thought Clara was just making small talk. "Probably."
'Clara is beautiful, so it should be easy for her to find a boyfriend, right?'
Alex was a man, and he knew men were visual animals. When they saw a beautiful woman, they couldn't help but look twice, and some would even go to great lengths to pursue her.
"But why can't I find a boyfriend despite being so beautiful?" Clara sighed heavily and lay down on the pillow, looking dejected.
Alex wanted to say that if Clara was willing to give up on Gabriel, she would definitely find a boyfriend.
