Chapter 755 Before the Wedding
Jake said, "Can you help me deliver a gift to her?"
However, he smiled bitterly again. "Forget it, don't send it. She definitely wouldn't want to receive a gift from me."
The last time, she only accepted the dress he sent anonymously.
He still doesn't dare to tell her that it was from him, and that he personally designed the dress for her.
He once fantasized that if he married Sophia, he would personally make her wedding dress.
A fantasy, in the end, could only remain a fantasy.
Gavin looked at Jake, not knowing what to say.
He had a way to get Jake out, but Jake refused.
"I don't have many friends, just you and Owen. Owen has already been caught because of me, I don't want to drag you down too."
Gavin's lips moved, feeling heavy-hearted.
"I'll come visit you whenever I'm on a business trip here."
"You better not come. Just live well with Rose."
Gavin wanted to say something more, but Jake stood up. "Go back."
He and Gavin met in school, back when the Rodriguez family wasn't powerful yet. Gavin was bullied while studying abroad and almost lost his life; it was Jake who saved him. After that, Jake taught him to become stronger step by step, and they took revenge on those who bullied him one by one.
Only then was Gavin able to graduate and return home smoothly.
With a month left until the wedding, Linda got two beauty cards for Caroline and Sophia to get full-body treatments, so they could look their best at the wedding.
The elders were all very nervous, afraid that some details at the wedding might not be prepared well and would ruin the grand double wedding.
The tense atmosphere also affected Sophia and Caroline.
Caroline asked, "Sophia, what if it rains that day?"
They were having an outdoor wedding, with a large grassy area in the parking lot. In early spring, there were already people maintaining the flowers and grass there.
Sophia replied, "I've already thought about that. There's a church nearby. If it rains, we'll hold it inside the church."
Although the church was a bit small, it could still host a double wedding.
"We've invited a lot of people from both families. Do you think the church can accommodate so many people?"
Sophia pondered, "I've already reported this issue to Celeste and Ruth. They said they would handle it."
Caroline still felt uneasy and said a lot more. Seeing her so nervous, Sophia gently comforted her, "Caroline, there's no such thing as a perfect wedding. Even the grand wedding of the richest man's daughter in Country Y three years ago had its mishaps."
"As long as we don't let ourselves down and are happy, that's all that matters."
Caroline responded softly, realizing she was too nervous.
Her relationship with Nicholas had been so rocky that getting married felt like a dream to her.
As the time drew closer, with only a week left, Sophia returned to the Blackwood Manor to prepare for the wedding.
The three children didn't want to leave Sophia, so they all followed her back to the Blackwood Manor.
The old house suddenly became much quieter.
Ruth sighed, "Fortunately, this quietness is only temporary."
Betty replied, "Yes, I'm not used to it either. I prefer the house to be lively."
The Lancaster family couldn't be without a mistress.
Nicholas had the interior of Heights Hill Villa redecorated according to Caroline's preferences. After their wedding, they would live there.
During this week, every time Linda and Daniel saw Caroline, they looked reluctant to let her go.
They had only recently reunited with Caroline, and now she was getting married. It was truly sad to think about.
Although they were all in City B, the Wolf Mansion was still a half-hour drive from Heights Hill Villa, which felt quite far.
Caroline smiled helplessly. "Mom, it's only half an hour. If you miss me, I'll drive back for meals."
Linda, reluctant to let go, held Caroline's hand. She took off the bracelet she had worn for over twenty years and put it on Caroline's wrist.
"If Nicholas dares to bully you, you must tell your dad and me."
Caroline nodded heavily.
Linda was always giving her things. Sometimes, when she went shopping with friends, she would buy beautiful jewelry and clothes for her.
Caroline's wardrobe was almost overflowing with clothes.
Daniel no longer allowed Nicholas to stay overnight at the Wolf Mansion, so Nicholas could only find time during the day to visit Caroline at school.
Gabriel did the same. No matter how busy he was, he would go to Fusion Dynamics Corporation at noon to have lunch with Sophia.
Finally, they made it to the day before the wedding.
Sophia and Caroline didn't go to work, making the final preparations.
At that moment, Caroline wasn't nervous at all.
Instead, Gabriel and Nicholas were the ones who got nervous.
This was Gabriel and Sophia's second wedding. The first one wasn't so pleasant; to be precise, only Gabriel wasn't happy.
"I still remember that he didn't smile at all during the first wedding, and he barely drank when others toasted him."
Sophia recalled that time and could now calmly talk about it with Caroline.
Caroline listened quietly.
"The wedding banquet wasn't even over, and he left early because of work."
"That night, he came back in the middle of the night and didn't enter our bridal chamber but slept in the study."
At that time, she felt really wronged, but because she loved him, she was willing to endure all the cold treatment.
Now it was different. The misunderstandings between her and Gabriel were resolved, the obstacle Tiffany was completely removed, and she saw Gabriel's true feelings for her.
Her seemingly dead heart was reignited by Gabriel, burning stronger and stronger.
So this time, she was happy about the wedding.
Caroline also recalled her past with Nicholas.
When they were in love, they had fantasized about their wedding. At that time, she thought it didn't matter whether they had a wedding or not, as long as she could be with Nicholas, even just getting married at the registry would be fine.
She never expected that after being apart for six years, filled with mutual resentment, they would finally reconcile and stay together.
Sophia and Caroline looked at each other, both feeling relieved and happy.
Sometimes, being overly obsessed with the past could only put pressure on oneself.
The present and the future were what truly mattered.
The past would eventually be healed.
At night, Gabriel tossed and turned, unable to sleep. More precisely, he hadn't slept well these past few nights without Sophia by his side.
He couldn't resist and called Sophia.
Sophia was also awake. She quietly walked outside with her phone to avoid waking the children.
"Hello."
Sophia's voice came through.
"I can't sleep," Gabriel said nervously.
Sophia replied, "So do I."
Sophia and Gabriel suddenly fell silent.
A few seconds later.
"Sophia."
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry."
He didn't know how many times he had said sorry. This time, it was for their first wedding.
Sophia chuckled softly, "Stop overthinking. Be careful not to have dark circles as the groom tomorrow."
"Okay, you should sleep too."
"Alright."
