Chapter 519 Here to Cause Trouble

Patricia was in a coma, and Celeste felt super guilty.

"It's all my fault. I was too harsh on her," Celeste said, eyes red and tears streaming down her wrinkled face.

Jennifer looked just as upset.

Ruth gently comforted Celeste, "You can't blame yourself, Celeste. Don't be too hard on yourself."

Then, a sharp glint flashed in Ruth's eyes. "We'll get the best doctors. She will wake up."

Celeste clung to Ruth's hand like it was her lifeline. "Ruth, I've already failed my daughter. I can't let anything happen to Patricia."

"Yes, I know. She'll be fine." Ruth felt sorry for Celeste. While comforting her, she thought about how to remind Celeste.

Now wasn't the time, especially with the Browns around. They were sneaky and would never admit anything.

"Mom, Patricia will be fine. Let me help you rest a bit," Jennifer said, supporting Celeste.

Celeste refused to leave, insisting on staying by Patricia's side until she woke up.

The ward was small, so Ruth sighed and said goodbye to Celeste. As she left, she noticed Ethan wasn't there.

Emma said, "Ethan went to the restroom."

Sam nodded.

As they walked out, Ethan returned.

Ethan approached Ruth and, once they were far enough away, whispered, "Great-grandma, I just saw that bad woman talking to the doctor."

Ruth was puzzled. "Which bad woman?"

"Her name is Ella."

"Did you notice anything else?" Ruth asked.

Ethan wouldn't say something like this for no reason.

Ethan whispered, "I saw her telling the doctor to exaggerate someone's condition, to make it seem like they were dying."

Ruth's eyes lit up, and she patted Ethan's head. "Ethan, you're so smart."

Emma chimed in, "I'm smart too."

"Yes, Emma and Sam are both very, very smart kids." Ruth hugged and kissed each of the three kids.

In the car, Ruth didn't avoid the kids and called Sophia, recounting everything that happened at the hospital.

Ruth emphasized one point: "The Browns said Patricia was hit by a car because she was on her way to apologize to you."

The Browns were subtly blaming Sophia. Anyone with a grudge would hold this against Sophia.

Because if Patricia hadn't been on her way to apologize to Sophia, if Sophia hadn't been so unforgiving and made everything public, Patricia wouldn't have been in such a hurry to apologize and wouldn't have been hit by a car.

"Sophie, to avoid Patricia blaming you again, you need to act first and expose her facade," Ruth reminded.

Sophia replied, "Yes, Ruth, I know what to do."

"Need my help?"

"I can handle it, Ruth. Just sit back and watch."

Ruth laughed heartily.

Sophia was someone she liked a lot. Sophia's resilient and straightforward personality reminded her of her younger self.

The Browns and the Blackwoods were all waiting for Patricia to wake up. But in the afternoon, Patricia suddenly started convulsing, and the doctors rushed in to save her.

Half an hour later, Patricia was barely conscious. She grabbed Celeste's hand and cried, "Grandma, I don't want to die."

Her voice was hoarse and weak.

Celeste's eyes were red. "You won't die. Don't think like that. You'll be fine."

Patricia added, "Grandma, my whole body hurts. I feel like I've seen my mom and dad."

Celeste shook her head. "No, no."

"I still have so much to do. My wishes haven't been fulfilled. I haven't spent enough time with you, Grandma," Patricia said, struggling to speak.

"Don't talk."

Patricia gently shook her head, as if giving her last words.

The doctor's earlier shake of the head and sigh were etched in Celeste's mind, and she almost fainted.

She held Patricia's hand tightly.

Patricia prayed, "Grandma, before I die, I want to see Gabriel one last time. Can you get him here?"

Even David couldn't bear to watch.

His heart softened a bit.

The ward was heavy with sorrow, and everyone looked grim.

Even Colin, who didn't particularly like Patricia, was silent.

Patricia's pale face and weak appearance told them she was close to death.

"Okay, I'll get Gabriel here for you." No matter what Patricia said now, Celeste would agree.

"Colin, call Gabriel and ask him to come."

"Okay."

Colin took his phone and left the ward, only to run into Sophia.

Sophia was accompanied by several doctors in white coats.

"Colin," Sophia greeted with a smile.

"What are you doing?" Colin asked, puzzled.

"I heard Patricia is dying, so I brought a medical team from Evergreen Heights Medical Center to treat her and see if there's any hope," Sophia replied.

Colin was even more puzzled. Why did it seem like Sophia wasn't here to save Patricia but to cause trouble?

The door to the ward was pushed open, and Sophia led the doctors in.

The once spacious ward suddenly felt very crowded.

"Sophie," Jennifer said in surprise, looking at Sophia.

"David, Jennifer, Celeste, this is the top medical team from Evergreen Heights Medical Center. I specifically asked them to come and treat Patricia," Sophia said first.

"Sophia, Patricia is already like this, and you still won't let her go?" Ella shouted angrily.

She absolutely couldn't let the doctors Sophia brought treat Patricia.

Patricia's car accident wasn't serious. Her head injury was from falling down the stairs. Ella had bribed the doctor to exaggerate Patricia's condition.

Patricia wanted to regain Celeste's love and trust, so she had to play a trick to make Celeste feel sorry for her.

Ella's plan was for the doctor to make the Blackwoods believe Patricia was dying, making them feel sorry for her. Then, after the "rescue," the doctor would pretend to save Patricia.

Only by experiencing life and death would the Blackwoods treat Patricia better and give her everything.

But now Sophia had come.

Ella couldn't allow Sophia to ruin their plan.

Sophia innocently said, "How am I not letting Patricia go? I heard she got into a car accident on her way to apologize to me. I have some responsibility in this. I brought a medical team to save her."
