Chapter 568 Two Choices
After Tiffany wrapped up her live stream and stepped away from the camera, her assistant swooped in to finish up and hand out gifts to the fans.
Marlowe rushed over, looking frazzled.
"Tiffany, what do I do now? Katherine's causing chaos at every branch store. I've had to shut down for three days. Every time I reopen, she pops up like she's got a sixth sense or something."
Tiffany put a finger to her lips and pointed at the camera, signaling that the live stream was still rolling.
Marlowe clammed up and followed Tiffany to the next room, where she repeated herself, still jittery.
Tiffany, cool as a cucumber, said, "Seriously? She's making a scene, and you didn't call the cops? Do I have to spell everything out for you?"
"I did call the cops, but they only nabbed the troublemakers. They get out after a few days." Katherine was clueless for years about our affair, but now she's suddenly Sherlock Holmes.
Marlowe went on, "And now Katherine's playing it smart. She never shows up herself; she hires these goons to wreck stuff and then bail."
"Even when they get caught, those thugs are only locked up for a few days and have no cash to pay for the damages."
"These guys are super loyal and haven't snitched on Katherine."
Otherwise, Marlowe wouldn't be so stuck.
After hearing Marlowe out, Tiffany's face shifted.
"How's Katherine got the cash to hire all these goons?"
Marlowe looked worried. "It's gotta be the money Dylan brought home. Katherine saved it all up. Over the years, she's stashed away quite a bit."
"If Dylan divorces her, all his assets will be split with her. Luckily, Dylan's property and shares in the beauty salon are in my name, so she can't touch them." Thinking of this, Marlowe felt a bit smug.
She'd put in the work for years, put up with all the crap for Dylan, and finally got everything. No way was she letting Katherine take it all away.
Tiffany frowned, deep in thought.
"Dylan is Alex's brother. Alex won't leave him hanging. Shut down the beauty salon for now and tell Dylan to get a lawyer to negotiate the divorce with Katherine. We need to cut our losses."
Besides the live stream, the beauty salon was a big moneymaker for Tiffany. No more cushy shrink office, no more perks from Gabriel. She couldn't afford to lose the salon and the stream.
Tiffany's eyes narrowed, a steely resolve shining through.
Following Tiffany's advice, Marlowe temporarily closed the beauty salon but had her staff secretly take private orders to keep the VIPs happy and maintain daily skincare routines.
As for the banners and stuff, she just ignored them.
But Katherine didn't back down. She brought people to hang banners near Marlowe's neighborhood, plastering Marlowe's address and calling her a homewrecker and a bitch.
Soon, Marlowe was infamous in the area.
At the Lancaster Group, Alex looked seriously pissed as he glared at Dylan.
He never thought Dylan could be such a dirtbag. On the surface, he seemed like a stand-up guy, hardworking and devoted to his family, but behind the scenes, he had a mistress.
"Do you even realize what you've done?"
Dylan hung his head low. "I messed up, Alex. Just made the same mistake a lot of guys do. Katherine and I haven't been good for a while."
Alex shot back, "If things were so bad, why didn't you talk it out with Katherine? And what about your two daughters?"
"They're my daughters. I'll keep supporting them until they're grown."
Alex was so mad he could barely breathe. He took a deep breath to calm down.
"I'll give you two options: One, leave with nothing, and half your salary goes to Katherine as alimony. Two, get out of the Lancaster Group. Your life or death won't matter to me. I don't have a brother like you."
"Alex, you can't do this. I..." Dylan looked at Alex, stunned. He thought Alex would have his back.
Alex gave him a look of pure disgust and turned to walk away.
Last time, when Sophia asked him about Dylan's character, he had nothing but praise. Now, he felt like a fool.
Alex covered his face, feeling truly ashamed.
Thank God Gabriel didn't let Dylan be a bodyguard for the kids. Dylan had everyone fooled, even Alex. If Dylan had done something to hurt the kids for a quick buck, Alex would never forgive himself.
"Mr. Lancaster, we've noticed a lot of retail investors selling stocks, all being bought by one institution," Alex said seriously.
Gabriel nodded slightly, "I know. Keep an eye on it."
"Got it. Also, we found the family of the employee hurt in the Kellys incident. But when our people visited, they got really upset at the mention of the Kellys."
Gabriel pursed his lips. "Where are they now?"
"In Quitown."
Gabriel checked his schedule on his iPad and made a few notes.
"Clear my schedule for the next two days and book a flight to Quitown."
Alex nodded, "Okay!"
Alex thought, 'Gabriel's really going all out for the Kellys. Sophia must be really touched. Maybe she'll finally see how sincere he is and forgive him.'
Today, Sophia was with Celeste visiting a factory. She supported Celeste, who held her hand.
When they left the factory, it was already late.
"Grandma Celeste, let's eat out tonight."
Celeste smiled and squinted her eyes.
"Alright, just the two of us."
"Okay, Grandma, what do you want to eat?"
"How about your favorite stew?"
"Sure."
They got in the car and headed straight to the stew restaurant.
Sophia thoughtfully served Celeste food. She specifically ordered a light dish because Celeste preferred light food, and at her age, she had to watch what she ate.
"By the way, Sophie, what exactly happened with your Kellys back then?" Celeste suddenly asked.
She had already looked into it but felt like she only scratched the surface.
Plus, a lot of info came from the Browns. Who knows if they were lying or hiding stuff?
Talking about it made Sophia's mood darken, and she lowered her head.
Celeste gently said, "If it makes you sad, forget it. I'll have someone dig deeper."
Sophia shook her head, and tears fell like pearls, dropping into her water glass and making tiny ripples.
Celeste's heart instantly ached.
