Chapter 660 Harsh Words

Trevor got hit with a heart problem, but he's too young for surgery. So, he's stuck with just a bit of medication to keep things in check.

Daisy's face went pale.

When it was just her and Trevor in the room, Daisy reached out, her slender fingers gently brushing his soft cheek.

"You know, it's bad enough you're not Nicholas's kid, but why'd you have to get sick too? Do you realize this makes you a burden to me?"

Trevor was fast asleep, looking all peaceful and sweet.

"No, you are Nicholas's child."

Daisy ignored everything else, clinging to the belief that it was Nicholas that night.

She had waited for Nicholas, and that night was her first time.

"If only you could call him 'Dad,' then maybe Nicholas would like you, and I could win him back."

Daisy muttered to herself, but Trevor was too young to do anything but cry.

'Useless!' she screamed in her mind.

A sharp look flashed in Daisy's eyes as she got up and left the nursery.

With the Reunion Festival coming up, Aragorn had Gummidge finalize the menu.

Looking at the bodyguards outside, a sharp light flashed in Aragorn's eyes.

Since Nicholas started keeping tabs on him, he barely left the house, just taking short walks in the yard, and no one came to visit.

This life seemed quiet but was really just a cage.

Gummidge came over and draped a thin coat over him.

"Is everything set?"

Gummidge nodded, looking worried. "Do we really have to do this? Nicholas will definitely hate us."

Aragorn snorted.

Gummidge was still uneasy. She didn't want to plot against Nicholas, but she always followed Aragorn's lead and couldn't stop him.

Gummidge barely slept that night, and by the next day, she looked worn out.

"How do you think the Wolfs will see you like this? Go freshen up," Aragorn said sternly.

Gummidge went to her room, washed her face, and tried to perk up, then headed to the kitchen to help the housekeeper with lunch.

Aragorn sat in the living room, checking the time.

"Is Daisy up?"

A servant answered, "Yes, she's with Mr. Trevor Watson."

"Okay."

At half-past ten, Aragorn figured Nicholas and Daniel's family would be arriving soon.

Sure enough, ten minutes later, there was some noise outside.

Daniel and Linda got out of the car, and Aragorn went to the door to greet them.

"Welcome."

Daniel had a faint smile as he shook hands with Aragorn.

Seeing only Linda behind Daniel, Aragorn couldn't help but ask, "Didn't Diana come?"

"Diana's in the back," Daniel replied casually.

Aragorn nodded, "Come on in."

Daniel and Linda entered the house, and upstairs, Daisy had been listening to the commotion downstairs. Hearing Daniel and Linda's voices, her heart tightened. She bit her lip, picked up Trevor, and walked out.

"Uncle Daniel, Aunt Linda," Daisy greeted them, looking tired as she held Trevor and came downstairs.

Daniel and Linda looked up at her.

Linda, who had once been so kind to Daisy, now felt very uncomfortable.

She had once treated the enemy's daughter as her own, even unintentionally hurting her own daughter Caroline for Daisy.

Thinking about it made Linda's chest tighten.

She turned away, not wanting to look at Daisy.

Daniel also gave Daisy a cold stare.

"Uncle," Daisy said, stepping forward with a pitiful look, "Trevor is sick. He has a heart problem. Uncle, I don't know what to do."

Tears started streaming down her face, making her look even more pitiful.

"If he's sick, you should talk to the child's father," Daniel said coldly.

Aragorn raised an eyebrow.

'Why does it feel like Daniel is distancing himself from Daisy? Isn't she his favorite niece? Could it be that Daniel has found his real daughter and doesn't care about Daisy anymore?' A million questions raced through Aragorn's mind.

"But Nicholas..."

"The child isn't Nicholas's. Stop blaming everything on him," Linda snapped.

Now that Caroline and Nicholas were together, she wouldn't let anyone badmouth Caroline.

Daisy's words were clearly an attempt to paint Caroline as a mistress again.

"Aunt Linda," Daisy said, tears in her eyes, looking at Linda as if she didn't understand why Linda had suddenly changed.

Linda hadn't realized how fake Daisy was before, but now she found everything about her unpleasant.

Especially since Daisy's mom, Mia, was behind Caroline's abduction, Linda couldn't help but blame Daisy too. She just wanted to give Daisy a piece of her mind.

"But Trevor is innocent. He's sick, and as a first-time mom, I really don't know what to do," Daisy said, holding Trevor tightly.

Trevor suddenly started crying loudly.

Daisy tried to soothe him, but nothing worked.

Seeing such a small child crying so hard, Linda's heart softened.

"Give Trevor to me."

Daisy's heart leaped with joy, and she quickly handed Trevor to Linda.

Linda checked Trevor's diaper, which was clean, and asked a few questions, learning that Trevor had been fed half an hour ago.

Linda walked around with him for a while, and Trevor stopped crying. He looked at Linda with his big, bright eyes, making her heart soften even more.

'Who could dislike such a cute baby?' Linda thought.

"Aunt Linda, Trevor really likes you. See, he stopped crying when you held him," Daisy said, trying to curry favor.

Sensing Daisy's relationship with Daniel's family easing, Aragorn felt a bit relieved.

Daniel frowned and said in a deep voice, "Since Trevor is sick, you should quickly find his biological father to discuss his treatment. And Daisy, living in the Watson Manor without any status, aren't you worried about losing your dignity?"

Daniel had never spoken so harshly to Daisy before.

Daisy's face changed slightly.

"Uncle, I..."

"Daisy's part of the family now. She's married to Nicholas, so she's got a place here," Aragorn smiled, trying to change the subject, "Why hasn't Diana arrived yet? Is she stuck in traffic?"

"I didn't know you had a son," a cold, mocking voice came.

Paul was pushing Nicholas, with Caroline beside them, as they entered together.

They weren't here for a proper family dinner today, so they didn't bring Josie. Otherwise, Josie might see something she shouldn't, and that wouldn't be good for her.
