Chapter 681 Promise
Gabriel's bathrobe was a bit open, showing off his toned muscles with those smooth, sleek lines.
Sophia felt a little thirsty and finished off the last sip of her red wine.
Gabriel hadn't said a word yet. Seeing her drink, he chuckled and poured her some more wine.
He noticed the quick glance she gave him.
Gabriel slyly pretended to open his bathrobe a bit more.
In a flash, Sophia's eyes darted back to him.
'Damn, I can't control myself; my eyes have a mind of their own,' she thought.
"Sophia," he called softly.
"Hmm?" she responded.
"Ever since I realized my feelings for you, my love has only grown. Sophia, can you give me another chance?"
"Can we start over?"
His voice got softer and softer, almost like a sad little puppy, making her heart ache.
Sophia stared at his handsome face. His usually deep and unreadable eyes were now filled with tenderness.
Her heart was pounding in her chest.
The room fell silent, and Gabriel started to panic, thinking, 'Is she still not willing?'
He lowered his head a bit.
"I'm sorry, Sophia. I was such a jerk before. I mistook my savior, and I didn't realize my feelings sooner, hurting you so much."
"If you still don't want to start over with me, that's okay. I'll keep waiting."
"Even if it takes decades, I'll wait."
Gabriel's tone was firm, and his eyes were dead serious.
All he wanted in life was to marry Sophia.
'How many times has Gabriel confessed now?' Sophia wondered. Maybe she should agree, but something in her head kept holding her back.
She just quietly looked at Gabriel. His face was really good-looking, with delicate skin that tanned nicely even with a little sunburn.
The longer they stayed quiet, the more awkward it got.
Gabriel didn't want to make her uncomfortable, so he flashed a playful smile and said, "It's okay, I'll ask you again next time."
He clinked his glass with hers and downed it in one gulp.
Gabriel thought, 'I can usually handle my liquor, but why do I feel a bit tipsy after just two glasses?'
He pulled his bathrobe open a bit more, showing off his abs. Sophia swallowed hard and quickly looked away, sipping her wine.
Gabriel smiled and poured her more wine.
Soon, they finished a bottle of red wine.
"Want more?" Gabriel asked.
Sophia was a bit worried she couldn't control herself. After all, she had needs too. With such a handsome guy like Gabriel next to her, oozing charm, it was hard to resist.
So, she decided to stop, fearing she might do something if she got drunk.
"No more, it's getting late. I'll go rest."
Sophia stood up. The wine made her a bit dizzy, but not drunk.
As she walked past Gabriel, she tripped over something.
She yelped and fell into Gabriel's arms.
Her hands landed on his abs.
Sophia panicked and tried to get up.
"Sorry, I..."
Gabriel took the chance to wrap his arms around her waist, holding her close.
"Did you get hurt?"
Sophia shook her head, wanting to leave.
Gabriel's voice was low, "Sophia."
That one word seemed to hook her soul, making her heart skip a beat.
She heard a certain longing in Gabriel's voice, and her heart started pounding even faster.
Sophia panicked and wanted to escape.
Gabriel's breath grew heavier as he held her tighter, resting his head on her shoulder like a pet seeking affection.
"Sophia, Sophia."
He kept calling her name, his voice growing more and more pitiful.
"Can you not ignore me for so long next time?"
'He's too tempting, how can he act so sweetly!' she thought.
"Can you?" Gabriel tilted his head on her shoulder, his eyes innocent and pitiful.
Sophia swallowed, her heart softening completely.
"Mm," she murmured.
From an angle Sophia couldn't see, Gabriel's lips curled into a sly smile.
What he wanted most tonight was this promise.
Before getting up, Sophia glanced at his abs again.
She sighed inwardly, 'Gabriel really keeps his body in great shape.'
As Sophia was about to leave, Gabriel didn't want to stay alone, so he followed her downstairs.
"Sophia," Gabriel called her before she entered her room.
"Is there something else?" Sophia turned and asked.
Gabriel took a step closer, his tall figure enveloping her, the fresh scent of his shower wafting over again.
He cupped Sophia's face and then leaned down to gently kiss her lips.
Sophia was stunned.
Gabriel smiled brightly, "Goodnight."
Before she could react, Gabriel quickly returned to his room.
Sophia touched her lips in a daze, then her lips curled into a smile.
That night, influenced by Gabriel, Sophia had a romantic dream, waking up feeling very embarrassed.
Nicholas originally planned to take Caroline back to her apartment, but as they were about to arrive, Daniel called.
Daniel hadn't picked up Caroline, and upon inquiry, it turned out Nicholas had taken her.
Daniel frowned. "Where are you? I'll come get you now."
Caroline thought for a moment. "I'll have dinner outside before going back."
Daniel was silent for two seconds.
"Alright, call me before you head home, and I'll pick you up."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Caroline turned to meet Nicholas's bright eyes.
"What do you want to eat?" Nicholas asked.
He thought, 'Caroline said she would have dinner outside before going home, so she must be dining with me.'
Caroline explained, "I have a dinner appointment with Ms. Allen."
Nicholas's bright eyes dimmed a bit.
"Can I join?" he asked.
Caroline thought for a moment and nodded, "Sure."
Nicholas's eyes lit up again.
Melissa needed Caroline's help, so she arranged a dinner meeting.
It wasn't urgent, but since Melissa had to leave for another meeting the next day, she hurriedly scheduled it for tonight.
Leaving her luggage at the apartment for now, Caroline and Nicholas took Josie to the dinner.
Seeing them arrive as a family, Melissa smiled with satisfaction.
"Josie."
"Hello, Ms. Allen," Josie greeted politely.
Melissa smiled and patted Josie's head gently.
Soon, they got down to business.
"It's actually minor stuff. I have to leave early tomorrow, and I didn't have time to hand things over to Caroline, so I chose tonight."
Melissa briefly explained the matters and then handed Caroline some documents.
