Chapter 33 Little Kelly
"What? Gabriel, have you forgotten about Sam's condition?" Tiffany exclaimed, her voice becoming sharp in surprise.
Gabriel turned to her, his tone cold and harsh: "If Sophia dares to deceive Sam and worsen his condition, I will not let her off."
Tiffany couldn't believe it, but she thought to herself that if Sophia really did impact Sam's condition, Gabriel would definitely make Sophia pay the price.
Perhaps it was all just a show?
Glancing at the time, Gabriel said, "If I don't want Sophia to see Sam, I have my ways to prevent it. You should no longer get involved in this."
Tiffany widened her eyes, "Are you blaming me for reporting Sophia to the police? But everything I did was for Sam's sake."
"No, don't overthink it," Gabriel's voice softened a bit, "Let's go, I'll accompany you to the parking lot."
Tiffany didn't let Alex drive her, driving back alone in a sulky mood.
She did it intentionally, intentionally having the bodyguard beat Sophia for the first time, intentionally reporting Sophia as a trafficker the second time.
But even with her intentions, she still couldn't stop Sophia from seeing Sam.
Tiffany angrily stepped on the accelerator.
The car sped up continuously, and just as it was about to run a red light, Tiffany suddenly snapped back to reality and quickly reduced the speed.
After slowly calming down, she stared at the red light in the distance, her gaze dark and gloomy, as if a demon from hell had appeared.
She absolutely couldn't just sit and wait for doom.
Regardless of what Gabriel really felt for Sophia, she couldn't let the two of them have a chance to be together.
...
At the Lancaster mansion, Mrs. Lancaster couldn't stay up any longer and went to sleep early. Aunt Liu was still trying to put Sam to sleep, but Sam refused to sleep while holding onto a doll.
Frowning, Gabriel walked in and gestured for Aunt Liu to rest first.
He looked at the doll.
That day, when Sophia left the police station, she left the clothes and doll that she was going to give to Sam behind. The police handed them to him. He had originally intended to throw them in the trash, but accidentally touched the switch of the doll, and Sophia's gentle voice immediately came out.
"Hello, I'm Little Blue. Who are you?"
After a two-second pause, it continued, "I'm often alone and very lonely. Can I be friends with you?"
"If you reject me, I will be sad."
"Well, then we can be good friends. You can tell me anything on your mind."
"If you can't speak, you can use gestures. I can see them too."
He listened to a few more segments, then inexplicably brought the doll back.
For the past two days, Sam had been holding onto this doll every day after school.
When Sophia recorded the voice for this doll, she had imagined every line. Her voice was sometimes gentle, sometimes playful.
"Sometimes silly, Sam's laughter cracked open Gabriel's mouth. Gabriel was startled, it had been a long time since he had seen his son laugh so happily.
In this moment, Gabriel was glad that he didn't throw away the doll. "Had enough fun?" Gabriel timely voiced. Sam's smile instantly disappeared as he looked up at his father.
"It's time to sleep." Sam listened to his father obediently and carefully placed his beloved doll on the bedside before lying down to sleep.
Then, he made a hand gesture to Gabriel, saying, "Goodnight, Dad." Gabriel bent down and kissed his son on the forehead.
"Goodnight. If you can listen and behave well in the future, eating and sleeping on time, I'll take you to see your little blue friend this weekend."
Sam's eyes suddenly opened wide, sparkling with endless light, just like his. He looked very happy. "Go to sleep." Gabriel tousled his head. Little Sam fell asleep with joy. ...
After hearing the lawyer's analysis, Sophia became more convinced that today's decision was not wrong.
Regardless of the reasons back then, she was the one who abandoned Sam, and if Gabriel used this against her, it would be detrimental to her fight for custody.
The lawyer also advised her to develop a bond with Sam first. If Sam accepted her, then her chances of winning the lawsuit would be greater.
"Ethan and Emma." Sophia didn't let herself think too much and went to the living room to find the two children. "Mommy." Emma looked up and held up a piece of paper.
"Look at the drawing I did." Sophia took a glance and said approvingly, "It's good, the nose isn't really a nose, and the eyes look like green beans..." "Mommy~" Emma pouted. Sophia playfully rubbed her nose.
"Alright, weren't you saying you wanted to learn the violin? I found a training class for you, and you can start attending classes on weekends."
"Really?" Emma exclaimed happily, giving Sophia a kiss. Sophia smiled and looked at Ethan. "And you, you said you wanted to learn martial arts, so I also signed you up." Ethan curved his lips in happiness, his joy contained.
"Mommy has also found a job. I'll start reporting tomorrow. From Monday to Friday, you'll take the school bus home, and if you're hungry, you can prepare some food for yourselves.
Remember not to touch dangerous items." Ethan and Emma chimed in unison, "We know." Sophia reminded them once again, and the two little ones nodded vigorously.
They were happy that Mommy was going to work because then Mommy wouldn't have time to interfere with them, and they could carry out their own plans quietly. When Mommy was busy in the study, Emma excitedly pulled Ethan.
"Great, my competition is about to start. Finally, Mommy is going to work. Ethan, you have to cover for me. When I win the prize money, I'll buy Mommy a beautiful necklace." "We can't spend the prize money recklessly. We need to save money to buy Mommy a car." Still, Ethan said.
In a foreign country, Sophia used to have a commuting car, but after buying a house, she didn't have the money to buy another one, so now she takes public transportation wherever she goes.
"Ethan, is the software you designed ready? Sell it quickly, and we'll have a lot of money."
"It's almost there," Ethan said, his brows furrowing at the mention of it.
He has encountered a bottleneck.
Sophia came out to drink water and saw the two little ones still playing with electronic devices, so she walked over.
"Starting from me, let's protect our eyes. You can't play anymore."
Emma tightly clung onto the iPad, looking pitifully at Sophia, "Just ten more minutes."
"No, you can't," Sophia said with a stern face.
If she doesn't control them strictly, the two children would have become nearsighted long ago. Moreover, spending too much time on electronic devices is not good for their physical and mental health.
Ethan disciplined himself and put down the iPad, then went to wash up, while Emma reluctantly followed.
The next day, after Sophia sent the two children to the school bus, she herself carried her bag and took the crowded bus to Lancaster to report for duty.
Margaret was surprised when she received Sophia's resume. She thought it was not going to work out, but unexpectedly, the boss quietly made it happen.
However... is the position given to her too low?
Sophia saw the words "Junior Designer" written on her ID badge and asked in confusion.
"Why am I a junior?"
