Chapter 479 The Blackwood Family Returned to the Country

Josie's eyes sparkled. She made a tiny fist and whispered, "Go, Daddy!" Nicholas patted her head and smiled. "Okay."

Since Josie felt insecure, Nicholas made sure to visit her daily whenever he was in City B. No one knew what he said to her, but seeing Josie's smile made Caroline's heart swell with joy.

The next day, Daniel dropped Clayton off at the company, but Clayton left early to accompany Daisy to her prenatal checkup. Feeling bad for Daisy, Clayton skipped work to be with her.

Daisy, looking lonely with her protruding belly, came out with her medical report. "Daisy," Clayton called.

"I told you not to come. I can handle it," Daisy said, surprised but frowning.

"The hospital's crowded. What if someone bumps into you?"

"Never mind, I'm done. Let's go."

Clayton was always obedient around Daisy. On the way, they talked about Diana's illness. Clayton couldn't be a donor because his blood type didn't match Diana's.

Daisy advised, "You need to help Uncle more. Aunt Linda is abroad with Diana for treatment, and they can't take care of you. Be more obedient."

Clayton nodded, thinking of the frail Diana. He acknowledged her as his sister but felt only sympathy, not affection.

"Clayton, you're still young. If you go to the company, your father will make you start from the bottom, and you'll get bullied. Why not finish your studies first?"

Clayton was silent. If not for that fight, he would've finished his studies abroad and joined the company after graduation. He knew he wasn't cut out for business and didn't like it.

"You like musical instruments, right? Then major in music," Daisy suggested. Clayton's eyes lit up. He loved musical instruments and had confided in Daisy about it.

Encouraged, Clayton told Daniel he wanted to study music. Daniel thought it over and agreed, enrolling him in the best music academy in the city—the same one where Caroline worked.

When Caroline saw Clayton at school, she frowned. 'Is Clayton here to cause trouble again?' She tried to avoid him but saw him walking with classmates, passing right by her.

In the following days, Caroline kept running into Clayton. Seeing he wasn't causing trouble, she found out he had enrolled in the school, majoring in electric guitar. Luckily, he wasn't majoring in violin, which would have been a headache for her.

As the weather in City B turned cold, Sophia was busy with Blackwood family affairs and Fusion Dynamics Corporation, leaving early and returning late, much to her kids' displeasure.

Since moving into Lancaster Mansion, Sophia got busier and had less time for the kids. Even during holidays, she didn't take them on trips. They missed her goodnight kisses since she always came home after they were asleep.

Tonight, Sophia came back late again, and the three kids were waiting up. "Why aren't you asleep yet?" she asked, surprised.

She opened her arms for a hug, but they refused. "What's wrong?" she asked, worried.

"Mommy hasn't been spending time with us," Emma complained.

Sophia paused. "I'm sorry, I've been really busy."

Ethan, also upset, noticed the red veins and dark circles under Sophia's eyes. His heart softened. "Mommy, give us a kiss, and we'll forgive you."

Emma pouted. "Yes, a kiss."

Sam nodded in agreement.

Touched by their cuteness, Sophia kissed each of them. "Sweeties, I'm sorry. Once this busy period is over, I promise to spend more time with you."

"Mommy, sleep with us tonight."

"Okay, I have good news for you."

The kids looked at her expectantly. Sophia smiled. "Your Uncle Colin and his family are coming back. You'll see them often."

"That's great!" they cheered.

Ethan thought, 'Uncle Colin is amazing. With him around, Sam will surely get better soon.'

Gabriel watched from upstairs, feeling a mix of emotions. Why did it take him so much effort to comfort them?

After Christmas, the Blackwood family finally boarded a plane back home. Sophia and her kids decorated Colin's new house. She wanted to pick them up at the airport, but Jennifer insisted she stay and prepare a meal instead.

Ruth heard about it and wanted to join the fun. Just before noon, there was noise outside. Sophia saw the soup was almost ready and turned off the stove. Hearing the door open, she rushed to greet them with her kids, still wearing her apron.

As soon as the door opened, Sophia set off a party popper. Streamers flew everywhere. "Welcome back, Celeste, Jennifer, and Colin," the kids said in unison.

Celeste smiled broadly. It was her first time being welcomed home so warmly. The aroma of food made the house feel warm and inviting.

Jennifer and Colin were deeply moved, looking at Sophia with joy. "Sophie," Jennifer called.

"Jennifer," Sophia replied, hugging her. Jennifer then pulled her to Celeste. "Quick, call her Grandma."

This was Sophia's first meeting with Celeste after Jennifer had recognized her as her goddaughter. "Grandma," Sophia said naturally.

"Sophia," Celeste replied, hugging her.

"Celeste," Ruth greeted joyfully. Seeing her old friend, Celeste was even happier.

While they were joyfully reuniting, Patricia was in a panic. Everyone in the Blackwood family was praising Jennifer's goddaughter, who turned out to be Sophia! Seeing Sophia, Patricia was dumbfounded.
