Chapter 100 Encounter with Jackson and Wendy
The hallway was quiet. Lillian, Shirley, and Barry looked at each other and burst into laughter simultaneously.
"Not bad, Barry, your acting skills are impressive," Shirley patted Barry's shoulder.
"The feeling is mutual," Barry said.
Lillian looked at Barry in confusion. "Barry, weren't you supposed to be doing medical assistance? Why are you here?"
"Just got back. I was worried about you two girls staying here alone, so I left the security guard my number just in case. Let's leave this place first."
Barry picked up two large suitcases and headed downstairs. "Don't touch anything, I'll come back up later."
As his tall figure descended, Shirley nudged Lillian's shoulder.
"Jackson also brought you back before, but he didn't leave a phone number like this. Barry is thoughtful!"
Lillian covered Shirley's mouth. "Your acting is also good. Hurry up and pack, we can't wait for him to come up."
She grabbed two cardboard boxes, and Shirley knew she didn't want to discuss this further, so she remained silent.
After moving their belongings into Barry's car trunk, they got in the car, and Barry said, "It might be difficult to find temporary housing. I happen to have a vacant two-bedroom apartment nearby. Why don't you come to take a look?"
Before Lillian could respond, Barry seemed to understand her concerns and added, "Don't worry, you won't stay for free. I'll charge you the rent. It's not good to leave the house empty all the time, and you can help me look after it, a win-win situation."
Lillian initially felt it was inappropriate, but she found it hard to refuse when Barry had put it this way, especially since Shirley was in this situation because of her. Finding temporary housing wouldn't be easy.
"Well then, thank you."
Barry's apartment was indeed nice, from lighting to layout and decoration, everything was well done.
Lillian's departure from studying abroad is at least a month or two away, and she had initially planned to rent a place with Shirley after her divorce. This two-bedroom apartment was just right.
As they came out of the bedroom, Lillian said to Barry, "Barry, let's sign the lease agreement first."
Barry chuckled. "No rush. It's almost noon after all the hustle. Let's find a place to eat first, I'll have the contract prepared, and I'll call you when it's ready."
"In that case, let Shirley and I treat you to a meal."
Knowing her well, Barry raised an eyebrow in agreement.
Lillian chose a nearby steakhouse.
At the restaurant, after ordering steaks, Lillian raised her glass. "Barry, thank you for your help today. I'll toast you with water instead of wine."
Barry smiled, about to speak, when a soft voice interrupted.
"Barry, why are you with these two women?"
Jenny, wearing a new sparkly mini dress and carrying a platinum bag, stood a few steps away with a proud expression on her face.
She glared at Lillian and felt jealous. This woman was naturally flirtatious. She had slept with Jackson, and now was she trying to seduce Barry?
Shirley's good mood instantly vanished. She picked up her glass and said, "It's been so long, and haven't you fixed the habit of going out with bad breath without brushing your teeth? Do you want a free cup of mouthwash?"
She raised her hand as if she was going to splash Jenny with water.
Jenny hastily stepped back, her high heels making it difficult, and she almost stumbled.
"Wasting water on you is not worth it." Shirley withdrew her hand with a look of disdain and continued drinking her water leisurely.
Jenny was both angry and embarrassed, but she held back her emotions. She looked at Barry and said, "Barry, they are bullying me."
Lillian almost shuddered at the sudden coquettish tone in Jenny's voice.
Barry's expression remained unchanged. "Miss Jenny, those who mock others will be mocked."
Jenny was stunned. Seeing that she didn't understand, Shirley chuckled.
"Barry, she didn't get it."
In an instant, Jenny's face turned red and then pale, tears streaming down her face. "You are all too much!"
She turned around crying and ran toward the door. "Jackson, Wendy, I'm being bullied!"
At that moment, a few more people approached. The most eye-catching was a tall and sturdy man accompanied by a delicate woman.
It was indeed Jackson and Wendy.
