Chapter 369 Examination

Lillian smiled with a bit of expectation.

As soon as she walked in, the chubby Philip jumped past her feet.

Lillian was startled, and Barry, who was beside her, bent down with a smile and picked up Philip, who had fallen by his legs, saying, "Philip, why are you scaring our guest? No, wait, it's your other owner. Look closely. Do you still recognize Lillian?"

When Barry held Philip, his already gentle features appeared even softer.

Lillian thought it was a bit strange when Barry said the words of the other owner.

But at that moment, Barry had already lifted Philip to Lillian's face, and she was completely captivated by the cat, locking eyes with Philip. She said softly, "Philip, do you still recognize me? Can I pet you?"

Lillian reached out to shake paws, imitating a cat's meow.

She remembered that many years ago, when she found the injured Philip, she had called him like this.

Lillian was a bit nervous, but to her surprise, Philip twitched his ears and lazily meowed at her twice.

"See, Philip recognizes you," Barry said.

Lillian looked up in surprise, and Barry smiled, pushing Philip towards her.

Lillian carefully took him. Philip was indeed very well-behaved, even snuggling into her arms.

"You play with him. I'll get you a glass of water," Barry said, walking towards the bar.

When he turned back, he saw Lillian already holding Philip and sitting on the sofa, petting his head and talking to him.

Barry smiled softly. He thought, 'All of this is not in vain. Every day when I play with Philip, I must mention Lillian to him.'

Lillian stayed at Barry's place for about half an hour before saying goodbye. After all, Barry lived alone, and it wasn't convenient for her to stay long.

Barry saw her off to the apartment complex, waved with a smile, and left.

Lillian was about to go upstairs when suddenly, two bodyguards in black suits emerged from a business car parked in the shadows.

Before Lillian could react, the bodyguards rushed towards her, grabbed her shoulders, and shoved her into the car.

The car sped away.

Lillian, in a state of shock, tried to resist but was pushed back into her seat by the bodyguard next to her, who also snatched her bag.

Forty minutes later, Lillian was taken to the hospital's Gynecology Department, where she saw Daisy.

One of the bodyguards stepped forward and handed Daisy the photos of Barry sending Lillian home.

Daisy's face turned cold, and she was increasingly convinced that Tina's suspicions were not unfounded.

"Take her in for an examination," Daisy pointed at Lillian and instructed the medical staff standing by. A nurse immediately stepped forward to pull Lillian.

Lillian was slightly startled, frowning and glaring at Daisy. "What do you want to do?"

Daisy sneered. "Why are you so nervous? Don't worry. It's just a routine prenatal checkup."

Lillian didn't believe her and retorted, "Does a routine prenatal checkup require so many people? Let go of me. I'm not going in!"

She struggled free from the nurse's grip.

Seeing this, Daisy snorted, "It's just an amniocentesis. If you cooperate, there's no danger."

Daisy exchanged a glance with the nurses, and Lillian was immediately dragged inside and pinned down on the operating table.

The doctor stepped forward to prepare, and Lillian's face turned scared as she struggled and shouted, "I won't do it! Amniocentesis is not a routine prenatal checkup. I don't want to do it. You have no right to force me. Let go of me!"

Maybe it was because Lillian struggled too much, or maybe Daisy wouldn't be at ease until she saw the needle pierce Lillian's belly. Daisy followed them in, frowning. "I'm your mother-in-law, a family member. I agreed, so the examination can be done. Lillian, you'd better cooperate with the doctor to avoid getting hurt. Many pregnant women have had amniocentesis. Why can't you? Cooperate and stop defying my orders."

Lillian was pinned down on the cold operating table, unable to move. Her clothes were already lifted by the nurse, exposing her still-flat belly.

The doctor applied disinfectant, and Lillian's eyes were bloodshot with anger as she glared at Daisy. "You're crazy! Amniocentesis is an invasive procedure, only necessary when there's an abnormality in the prenatal checkup. All my prenatal checkups have been normal. You just want to do the amniocentesis early to match for Jeffrey, but you can't treat me like this! What if something happens to Taylor because of this? Let go of me. I don't want to do the amniocentesis! Jackson won't allow it either!"

Seeing her struggle so violently, Daisy became even more suspicious. Previously, Wendy's pregnancy had made her wait long enough. She couldn't allow such a thing to happen again.

Daisy stepped forward, looked down at Lillian, and said coldly, "Matching? Before that, you should pray that this child is Jackson's! Don't expect Jackson to save you. He would want to know if this child is his even more than I do! Get on with it!"

Daisy stepped back, and the doctor immediately approached Lillian with a long, thin needle.

Meanwhile, at Star Group, Terry burst into the office and shouted, "Mr. Frane, something's happened!"
