Chapter 441

"You found out," Jackson muttered, shocked.

Jackson stared at Lillian's pale, indifferent face, feeling powerless.

"Yeah, I know everything. No need to explain. Please, Mr. Frane, respect me. I'll be waiting at the State Court entrance."

Lillian walked past Jackson.

As their clothes brushed, Jackson grabbed her.

"Lillian, I'm sorry. You know my situation. I just wanted to find Star, resolve my issues, and move on.

"I didn't expect the storm, losing signal, blocked mountain roads, or Star's high fever. And I didn't foresee Shirley getting injured at the wedding."

He always thought he had control but forgot things didn't always go as planned.

Lillian turned to look at him. Maybe it was the dim hospital corridor lighting, but Jackson's face seemed shadowed and pale.

But Lillian didn't feel sorry for him anymore.

In a calm voice, she said, "I don't care about your situation or if you've moved on. I don't care anymore. Mr. Frane, please respect yourself."

Jackson's grip on Lillian's arm loosened.

Lillian sighed in relief and was about to pull away when Jackson tightened his grip, pulling her into his arms.

A familiar scent enveloped her.

Lillian felt disgusted and pushed him away.

"Jackson, what do you want?"

"Lillian, the person you wrote about in your diary, it's me, right? You've always loved me, right?"

Jackson's voice was hoarse as he held the struggling Lillian tightly.

It was as if by not letting go, he could keep her forever.

But now that everything was out in the open, Lillian felt humiliated.

She struggled harder. "Yes, I did love you! I loved you so humbly and degradingly. But now I'm awake; I don't want to love you anymore! I don't love you anymore! Please, let me go!"

Lillian lifted her head from Jackson's embrace. Her eyes were red, but no tears fell. Her pale face looked almost transparent as she looked at him with despair.

Even though Jackson already knew, hearing her admit she had always loved him felt like a punch to the gut.

His eyes reddened as he held her tighter.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know. I found that diary by accident and misunderstood you and Kevin.

"I was a fool, Lillian. You can't just tell me you loved me and then take it back!

"If you love me, keep loving me. I don't believe you can just stop!"

A fire burned in his eyes as he demanded she continue loving him.

Lillian froze, then exploded in anger, slapping him hard.

Jackson stood there, confused, not understanding her sudden fury.

Lillian laughed bitterly, her voice shaking as she said, "Jackson, not loving someone doesn't happen overnight. It's from constant disappointment. Whether you believe it or not, I truly don't love you anymore."

She closed her eyes, exhausted.

"And it's not that I never told you, but you never believed me! Four years ago, I said I didn't drug you, and you didn't believe me!

"I said I liked you, and you didn't believe me. The year we got married, I told you I liked you, and you still didn't believe me! I didn't know why before. Now I know it was because of that diary.

"But a few days ago in the hospital, someone forged my handwriting to frame me, and you said you believed me, that you'd find the truth.

"Obviously, you never investigated. If you had, you'd know the diary was tampered with! And today wouldn't have happened.

"Jackson, this slap isn't because you don't love or protect me. You don't have to. But you can't keep belittling me and trampling on my feelings! Not believing me!

"I've used all my courage on you. Divorce is the only option left."

With that, Lillian pushed Jackson away.

This time, his expression was dark, and she easily pushed him aside.

She turned to leave, but Jackson caught up and hugged her from behind.

Lillian, physically and emotionally drained, was about to curse when she heard Jackson's hoarse voice in her ear, "But honey, I still love you."

He had never realized how much he loved her until now, how much he couldn't bear to lose her.
