Chapter 404 Found Jeffrey

Lillian never thought Jeffrey would vanish from the hospital the very next day.

When Daisy got the news, she bolted out of the room and ran smack into Jackson, who was strolling with Lillian in the Frane Mansion garden.

With bloodshot eyes, Daisy grabbed Jackson and cried, "Jackson, Jeffrey's missing! You gotta send someone to find him! Now!"

Jackson's waist injury hadn't fully healed, and Daisy's collision clearly aggravated it, making him wince.

"Don't pull him!" Lillian snapped, stepping forward, but Jackson held her by the waist, shielding her from Daisy.

Jackson turned to the bodyguard trailing them and ordered, "Take my mom back."

Daisy wanted to resist and yell, but Jackson's icy stare stopped her.

"Mom, if you want me to find Jeffrey, don't make a scene! Otherwise, who knows when we'll find him?"

Daisy's face went pale with frustration, but thinking of Jeffrey, she followed the bodyguard back.

"Are you okay? Let me check!" Lillian lifted Jackson's shirt, relieved to see the scabbed area hadn't bled.

Even though they were both her sons, Daisy treated Jackson and Jeffrey so differently.

Sometimes, Lillian felt sad and heartbroken for Jackson.

Jackson met Lillian's eyes, then patted her head and asked, "Any idea where Jeffrey might've gone?"

Lillian replied, "There's a spot behind the Frane Mansion. He might be hiding there."

There was a treehouse in the woods behind the mansion.

In the past, when Jeffrey was upset, Lillian would take him there to climb into the treehouse and talk to the tree hole.

Jackson carried Lillian all the way to the treehouse and found Jeffrey's shoes under the tree.

Lillian signaled Jackson to put her down.

Jackson frowned and said, "Don't climb the tree. I'll call Jeffrey out."

He was about to shout when Lillian covered his mouth and whispered, "Don't scare Jeffrey. You need to be patient with him. If you act like this, I doubt Taylor will have a patient and good father."

Jackson sighed. Patience with kids wasn't his strong suit.

"Alright. Step on my shoulder and go up." Jackson relented, stepping forward and lifting Lillian to sit on his shoulder.

Lillian held onto the tree trunk, stepped on Jackson's shoulder, and climbed into the treehouse.

Sure enough, Jeffrey was crouched in the corner, crying with swollen red eyes.

Lillian softly asked, "Why are you crying?"

Hearing Lillian's voice, Jeffrey jumped up and tried to run out with his head down.

Lillian grabbed him, saying, "The doctor told me to stay in bed. Do you want me to search for you everywhere?"

Jeffrey looked up, nervously glanced at Lillian's belly, then lowered his head in shame and muttered, "Lillian, I don't want to get treated anymore. I don't want to hurt you..."

Before Jeffrey could finish, Lillian gave him a light knock on the head.

Jeffrey looked up with tearful eyes, and Lillian gently rubbed his head, saying, "If you don't get treated, when Taylor is born, who will protect her if she gets bullied?"

"No one can bully Taylor!" Jeffrey immediately clenched his fists.

Lillian grabbed Jeffrey's hand and placed it on her belly, saying softly, "Feel it. Taylor is very healthy, and I haven't been hurt because of you."

Jeffrey felt guilty and said, "But I heard that my mom forced you to do an amniocentesis. It must have hurt, right?"

Lillian's eyes welled up, and she hugged Jeffrey. "It didn't hurt. You get injections every day and aren't afraid of pain. How could a little prick hurt me?"

"But if it weren't for me..."

"It's not like that. I also hope Taylor can save you. When I first got pregnant with her, I asked the doctor about the bone marrow matching. The doctor said that it is very strict, and usually, blood matching is required. Amniotic fluid can't accurately match. Otherwise, I would have done the amniocentesis before Daisy forced me to do that."

Jeffrey was extremely surprised as he asked, "If it can't be used for matching, why did Mom still do it?"

Lillian tugged Jeffrey's ear and said, "She did it for other reasons. You don't understand!"

Lillian resisted the amniocentesis because she felt disrespected, not because she was against matching for Jeffrey.

These were two completely different things.

Moreover, Daisy wanted the amniocentesis mainly because she suspected Taylor wasn't Jackson's child.

But Jeffrey clearly couldn't understand this.

Lillian rubbed his face and glared at him. "Anyway, listen to me, and don't overthink it! Go back to the hospital and get treated properly! If you dare to run out of the hospital again, I won't care about you anymore. Got it?"

"Okay." Jeffrey nodded, then touched Lillian's belly in amazement and said, "Lillian, your waist really seems to have gotten a lot thicker!"

Lillian was speechless, saying, "It's not my waist that's thick; it's my belly that's bigger."

"Is there a difference?"

"Of course, there is!"

At this moment, Daisy's shouting and the sound of chaotic footsteps came from below the tree.
