Chapter 19 The Family Bracelet
Lillian had been working as a dance teacher at this dance training institution for a year, teaching adult modern dance in the evenings and weekends. Today, she was called in by the manager to substitute for the children's class. Her strong dance foundation, striking beauty, and unwavering patience endeared her to the children and earned her widespread praise.
When Lillian came out of the changing room, the manager handed her a payment.
"Lillian, thanks to your help today. Would you like to switch to the children's group? We'll add an extra hundred dollars per hour to your pay."
Lillian's eyes lit up. "Sure, I have free time during the day recently."
After leaving the training institution, Lillian took a taxi to the hospital.
Last night, upon hearing Daisy's words, she departed with a troubled heart but remained deeply worried about Jeffrey.
When she arrived at the ward, Jeffrey was already awake. He was going through a rebellious phase, refusing to eat a single bite fed by the servants.
The servants were at their wits' end, but when they saw Lillian come in, they breathed a sigh of relief and immediately left the room.
"Lillian! Why did you take so long to visit me?" Jeffrey asked, his voice tinged with happiness.
Lillian walked over. "I'm here now. You need to eat properly."
"Why didn't Jackson come? Did he bully you again? I think a woman as outstanding as you shouldn't be with him. How about considering me? I don't mind an age gap relationship." Jeffrey always had a way with words.
"Well, I'm actually considering that." Lillian joked.
To her surprise, the next moment, Jeffrey pulled out his phone from under the blanket and spoke into it, "Jackson, did you hear that? Lillian doesn't want you anymore!"
Lillian fell silent.
After Jeffrey finished speaking, he hung up the phone and grinned mischievously at Lillian. "Lillian, if you're angry, you should let Jackson know. Don't keep it to yourself. That way, he can come and coax you."
"You understand that? You little brat." Lillian patted Jeffrey's head.
"Don't underestimate me. Kids my age are already dating."
"That's called puppy love, not advisable!"
"I don't even like those girls of the same age. They're not even developed!"
Lillian teased, "You're just like Jackson!"
Jeffrey kicked the blanket and playfully tussled with Lillian, then popped his head out from under the blanket, slyly asking by Lillian's side, "Lillian, did Jackson give you the family heirloom bracelet yesterday?"
Lillian hesitated for a moment and changed the subject.
Jeffrey wasn't easily fooled, grabbing Lillian's hand and rolling up her sleeve. "He didn't give it? Did he give it to Wendy instead? I have to go ask him!"
Jeffrey leapt to the ground. Seeing that, Lillian was deeply moved, her eyes filling with emotion. She also deeply worried about Jeffrey's illness.
At that moment, a man's voice sounded at the door. "Ask me what?"
Lillian turned her head and saw Jackson stepping in.
Although Jackson's words were directed at Jeffrey, his eyes were deep and locked onto Lillian.
Lillian quickly averted her gaze, not wanting to be in the same space as him.
She quickly said, "I'll go wash some fruit."
Lillian walked towards the kitchen, passing by Jackson, with Jeffrey's voice coming from behind."Jackson, did you not give Lillian the family bracelet? I'm telling you. I won't fight over it since it should go to Lillian. Otherwise, I'll have Mom leave it to me!"
As Lillian entered the kitchen, she paused at the closing of the door upon hearing Jeffrey's painful cry from outside. Jackson had slapped the back of Jeffrey's head. "Adult matters, stay out of it!"
