Chapter 418 A Sign of Waking up
Mila, Max's caregiver, called to say Max's fingers had moved twice today.
Thrilled, Lillian rushed to the hospital and called Jackson on the way.
When she got there, she was surprised to see Jackson already talking to the doctor in the hallway, still in his suit.
Hearing her approach, Jackson turned and saw her. "Don't worry!" he said as he pulled her into a hug.
Lillian was anxious. Max had been in a coma for almost two years, and this was the first sign of progress.
She tugged at Jackson's shirt and asked, "Is this really a sign of waking up?"
Jackson nodded, "Not quite waking up yet, but he's more responsive to stimuli."
He took her to the doctor, who showed her the recent data indicating improvements.
Jackson had hired this medical team for Max at great expense.
After the doctor left, Lillian hugged Jackson tightly, feeling grateful and happy.
Sensing her emotions, Jackson lifted her face and saw her teary eyes. He wiped her tears, and she buried her face in his chest, saying, "Do you think Max might wake up and attend my wedding?"
Jackson chuckled, "I'm not sure, but if you keep rubbing your tears and snot on me, I won't make it to my meeting."
Lillian pulled away, playfully punched his chest, and smiled, "Thank you."
Jackson teased, "You have a unique way of saying thanks."
Lillian stood on her tiptoes to kiss him when hurried footsteps approached.
"Mr. Frane, something happened with Susan. You need to check it out."
Jackson's expression turned serious. He quickly walked towards the elevator, still holding Lillian's hand.
In Susan's ward, doctors were performing emergency treatment. Dominic looked anxious, and Susan's sister Megan and her son stood nearby. Adara looked pale and panicked at the back.
Lillian was surprised to see Wendy there and frowned, feeling uneasy.
"What happened to Susan?" Jackson asked.
Dominic glared at Megan, "If something happens to Susan, I won't let it go! Don't think your son can inherit the Price family estate just because Star hasn't been found and Henry is gone."
Megan replied, "Dominic, I didn't mean it that way. You brought a fake Star to deceive Susan. I had to stop it, right?"
