Chapter 588
The sudden, crazy kicks from the baby were a sign Taylor was fighting to stay alive.
Lillian pressed her belly hard and said, "Taylor, I'm here. You gotta be strong. We gotta get through this together. It's gonna be okay."
She shoved the car door with all her might, and thank God, it opened.
Lillian stumbled out, the cold rain hitting her body was nothing compared to the footsteps she heard behind her. She turned around in terror and saw Bob.
He had jumped out of the truck and was chasing her.
Right then, her phone started ringing in her pocket.
Lillian clutched her violently contracting, painfully aching belly, running forward in panic, her fingers shaking as she reached for the phone.
But by the time she got it out, she had no strength left.
With heavy steps and trembling fingers, she couldn't answer the phone and stumbled, falling into the muddy ground.
The phone flew out of her hand.
Lillian looked back, rain washing away her tears, as Bob got closer and closer.
She propped up her heavy, painful body, crawling forward bit by bit, reaching for the phone.
Beneath her, blood mixed with rainwater, leaving a winding trail.
The deep red blood was washed into a pale red by the rain, and a pair of dirt-covered leather shoes stepped on it, getting closer and closer.
Lillian fumbled the phone, grasping it, her trembling hand pressing hard on the side button.
Her emergency contact, Jackson.
She silently spoke to Taylor in her heart, 'Taylor, don't be scared. Daddy's coming to save us.'
The moment the call connected, Lillian's tears gushed out, but just as her lips moved, the phone was snatched away by Bob.
Bob held the phone and squatted down beside Lillian.
He cruelly admired her look of despair and pleading, then turned on the speakerphone.
"Jackson, if you wanna save your wife and kid, get fifty million bucks ready and wait for my call!"
Before a response could come from the other side, Bob hung up the phone and threw it away.
Bob grabbed Lillian by the hair, lifting her head.
Rain poured onto her bloodless face, and Bob slapped her hard.
"Bitch! You've ruined my life! You heard it just now, didn't you? Jackson's still with another woman right now! You better pray he still cares about you and the kid in your belly, or I'll take you down with me!"
Lillian's ears rang, and her vision blurred, her mouth filled with the taste of blood.
Bob dragged her up from the ground and carried her towards the truck.
She stared wide-eyed, looking up at the dark sky, her eyes stinging, her whole body in agony.
Lillian was soaked by the rain, her body covered in blood and rainwater, like a fish out of water, struggling to breathe.
Yeah, she had heard it, too.
When the call connected, she heard the sound of an ambulance and Wendy's screaming.
She could vaguely hear a doctor loudly comforting her.
"Stay calm, take deep breaths, trust us, you and the baby will be fine!"
But what about her and Taylor?
Who would come to save them?
"Help."
Lillian opened her mouth, shouting with all her might.
But for some reason, her voice was so small that it was easily drowned out by the rain, and even Bob didn't care.
Bob threw her into the truck and then returned to the driver's seat.
Lillian, using all her strength, grabbed his clothes, her eyes bloodshot, letting out a mournful cry, "Bob, take me to the hospital! The baby's coming. If I die, you get nothing!"
Bob forcefully shook off Lillian, causing her to fall back into the truck, and he sneered viciously.
"I never stopped you from giving birth. You've lived with the Frane family for over a decade and became Jackson's wife. Do you really think you're special now? A lady of high status?
"It's totally normal for women to have kids. Why go to a hospital? You can give birth right now! Once the baby's born, I can double the ransom!"
With a loud bang, the car door closed.
