Chapter 605
Shirley was all smiles, thinking that Ambrose really knew how to take care of women. If he'd met Lilian sooner, Jackson wouldn't have stood a chance.
She handed the bowl to Ambrose, who carefully fed Lilian some fish soup. "My grandparents wanted to stay with you at the hospital yesterday, but they were too tired. They're really worried about you. You gotta take care of yourself and get better soon. Is it too hot?"
Lilian took a sip and shook her head. "Nah, it's perfect."
She wanted to feed herself but knew Shirley had a plan.
If it meant getting rid of Jackson, she was game.
But Jackson, all cold and stern, sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, just watching. His intense vibe made Lilian lose her appetite, and swallowing became a chore under his gaze.
"Can't eat anymore?" Ambrose asked, noticing her struggle. He didn't push it, put down the bowl, and grabbed a tissue.
He reached out to wipe Lilian's mouth, but Jackson's hand shot out of nowhere.
In a flash, Jackson was on the other side of the bed, blocking Lilian's face.
Ambrose's hand, holding the tissue, poked Jackson's. Ambrose looked up, "Mr. Frane, what's your deal?"
"Her skin's too delicate for tissues," Jackson said seriously, then used his thumb to wipe a bit of oil from Lilian's mouth. He took the tissue from Ambrose and wiped his own hand.
Watching her eat what Ambrose fed her and smile at him, Jackson felt a pang of jealousy.
Seeing Ambrose help her so intimately, he couldn't stand it!
Lilian didn't react right away. When she realized what happened, she frowned.
Ignoring Jackson's rudeness, she turned to Ambrose. "I need a favor."
Ambrose nodded. "I told you, no need to be formal with me."
Lilian handed him the divorce certificate next to her.
Jackson's eyes darkened. "Lilian, what are you doing?"
He'd asked before; for remarriage, the divorce certificate was still needed.
That was their divorce certificate. Why was she giving it to Ambrose?
Lilian still didn't look at Jackson. She handed the certificate to Ambrose.
"Can you check if this divorce certificate is legit?"
"You think I gave you a fake one?" Jackson laughed angrily.
Lilian finally looked at him and nodded. "It's possible. The certificate wasn't issued by State Court. Maybe those officials were actors you hired. Plus, it's not online."
Jackson's fists clenched tightly.
She didn't trust him at all.
But when did she start trusting Ambrose so much?
She could even give the divorce certificate to Ambrose to check.
Facing Lilian's cold eyes, Jackson couldn't take it anymore. He turned and walked away, his back stiff.
After he left, Ambrose didn't take the certificate. "You did that just to piss him off, right? You don't really need me to check it, do you?"
Lilian's intentions were clear, so she shook her head and put the certificate away.
Jackson wouldn't be so low as to deceive her with this.
She just couldn't stand him still claiming to be her husband; it drove her nuts.
In the hospital's emergency exit, Jackson kicked open the door and stormed in. He punched the wall, blood seeping from his knuckles. Leaning against the wall, slightly hunched, he panted, tasting metal in his throat, his body swaying.
"Jackson!" Gray, who had followed, pushed open the emergency door, his expression changing.
