Chapter 840

Kenneth's face went stiff, and he clammed up.

Lillian stared at him, shocked. "Seriously, Dad? You didn't get me a welcome gift at all? You gave your adopted daughter a sports car worth millions, but your real daughter gets zilch? All that talk about being happy to have me back was just for show, huh?"

Kenneth felt a twinge of guilt because he hadn't thought about getting Lillian a gift. But hearing her say that, his guilt quickly morphed into annoyance.

Kenneth rubbed his temples and said, "Lillian, you're a Kelly. What don't you have? Why are you so hung up on Anouk's new car?"

Lillian let out a frustrated laugh. "I asked for something and got nothing. You expect me to just let it slide? That'd be like handing over what's mine to someone else."

She shot a pointed look at Ruby and Anouk.

Kenneth was about to lay into her, but Lillian cut him off.

"So, you didn't get me a welcome gift, huh? Maybe I should call Grandpa and see if he has something for me."

As she reached for her phone, Kenneth's expression shifted.

Kenneth had always respected and feared Oberon.

"Don't bother your grandfather. Of course, I got you a gift."

"What is it?"

Lillian put her phone away, and Kenneth pulled out a card from his wallet.

"Dad didn't know what you'd like. I was going to buy you a car, but I was worried it wouldn't be your style. This card has two million dollars on it. Use it to get whatever you want."

Kenneth slid the card over to Lillian, who wanted to roll her eyes.

But she took the card anyway. After all, she had been through enough during this visit; she deserved some compensation.

"No need to buy another car. I like the one Anouk drives. I didn't drive to work today, so I'll just take that one."

"You already took the card! Why do you need my car too?"

Anouk couldn't hold back her frustration.

Realizing she sounded too emotional, she quickly added, "It's not that I don't want you to have it, Lillian. It's just that this car was a gift from Dad to me, and I..."

Lillian interrupted, "Then you can give me the equivalent in cash."

Anouk was livid.

Where was she supposed to get that much cash for Lillian?

She was no longer the Kelly family's heiress. When Oberon and Ambrose made her leave the Kelly Villa, they took back all the shares, properties, cars, and jewelry they had given her.

They left her with nothing but a small villa abroad and enrollment in a foreign university, essentially abandoning her.

Now, even though she was back with Kenneth and Ruby, her monthly allowance was only fifty thousand dollars, not enough to buy a decent handbag.

She had no money to give Lillian, and even if she did, she wouldn't.

"Lillian, do you really have to take my things?" Anouk's eyes welled up with tears.

Gage and Jett Lawson immediately stepped forward to comfort her.

"Anouk, don't be sad. Now that you're our sister, we won't let anyone bully you."

"Lillian, you've already taken Uncle Kenneth's card. Don't take Anouk's car too."

Lillian sneered. "Am I taking her car? Dad, do you think so too? Is it really my fault?"

Seeing Lillian reflect on her actions, Kenneth was about to nod when she continued.

"Forget it. I'll just post a poll on Twitter and let everyone decide if I'm taking Anouk's car or if she's taking what's rightfully mine."

Lillian picked up her phone again.

Kenneth knew Lillian had a verified Twitter account as the Kelly family's daughter, set up by Ambrose when they announced her return. It had gained millions of followers, even though she rarely posted.

If Lillian posted something now, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Kenneth sternly told the tearful Anouk, "Alright, if Lillian likes the car, let her have it. You can pick another one in a few days."

Anouk nearly bit her tongue in frustration. How could that be the same? That was her car, and she hadn't even driven it for two days. It was a limited edition she had waited months for. She had just shown it off to Lillian, and now she had to give it up?

"Dad..." Anouk wanted to say, but Ruby gave her a look.

Anouk had no choice but to nod and pretend to be obedient. "I'll listen to Dad."

Lillian was pleased. She stepped forward and held out her hand to Anouk. "Hand it over."

Anouk knew she meant the car keys. Her heart ached as she handed them over.

Lillian twirled the keychain and smiled. "Thanks."

Seeing Lillian's bright smile made Anouk even more furious.

Lillian pocketed the keys and then turned to Ruby. "Ruby, where are my mom's belongings?"

Lillian hadn't forgotten that Ruby had mentioned her mother's belongings were here, which was why she had come.

Ruby said, "They're upstairs. Don't worry, Lillian. But let's eat first. The food will get cold."

Lillian had just taken the card and the car, so she couldn't be too demanding. Besides, if she kept pushing, Ruby might not hand over the belongings willingly.

Lillian nodded. "Alright."

The group moved to the dining room.

As they sat down, Anouk quickly took the seat next to Kenneth. "Lillian, I'm used to sitting here. I hope you don't mind."

Lillian didn't want to argue over every little thing. She didn't care about sitting next to Kenneth to bond with him.

She sat across from Kenneth, but as soon as she did, Gage and Jett sat on either side of her.

"Lillian, it's our first time meeting. Let me toast to you," Gage said, pouring her a glass of wine and handing it to her.
