Chapter 159 So Enthusiastic
Wendy answered, "Jackson, Lillian suddenly left."
Jackson thought that Lillian had left without even doing her translation job because she didn't want to see him. His face darkened as he turned to Alice and said, "Do you need a translator? I can temporarily take over."
Alice smiled at Jackson and said, "Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Frane. But it's not needed. Let Ms. Sivan come in now, I want to listen to her violin playing."
There was a hint of displeasure in her expression. She had high hopes for Lillian. She had watched Lillian's stage videos several times and thought Lillian was very talented, and her dancing had soul and uniqueness. Lillian was a rare talent.
After meeting Lillian, her good demeanor and modest personality also made Alice feel comfortable being around her.
But Alice didn't expect her to be so disappointed.
She turned and entered the room. Anna shrugged apologetically at Jackson, gesturing for Wendy to follow. "Alice is about to go to a meeting, so you only have ten minutes."
Wendy nodded, picked up her violin case, and looked at Jackson. She wanted Jackson's approval and encouragement. It would be even better if Jackson could accompany her inside.
Alice was just a dancer, but her attitude toward her was so arrogant. If Jackson was there, perhaps Alice could be more pleasant to her out of respect for him.
However, Jackson's gaze fell deep into the void, not even looking at her.
Wendy bit her lip, lowered her head, and walked in by herself.
As the door closed, Terry hesitated to say, "Mr. Frane, should I go find Ms. Frane? She couldn't be irresponsible and absent without reason. If she left for a real reason, she would have explained."
Lillian had been a clerk in the CEO's office for over a year, and also Terry's subordinate.
Even as a junior clerk, Lillian was diligent and had never made a mistake. She was a serious and reliable person.
With one hand in his pocket, Jackson turned to Terry. "Do you know her well?"
Terry felt a chill at the bottom of his feet and quickly smiled. "I certainly don't know her as well as you. I just asked casually."
Jackson said coldly, "I've said it before, you don't need to mention anything about her to me in the future. Do I need to repeat myself?"
"Sorry," said Terry.
Jackson walked away quickly.
Terry wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and hurried to catch up.
Alice had given Wendy ten minutes, but Wendy came out after only five minutes with an unhappy look.
Rose waited for her and anxiously approached, taking the violin case from her. "How did it go? Did Alice agree?"
Wendy angrily shook her head and said, "Alice directly said I didn't meet her requirements. I hadn't even finished playing a piece, and she interrupted me, asking me to leave! She's just a dancer! If she thinks she's so great, and the audience is there to see her dance, what's the importance of the accompaniment? It's good enough as long as it's not terrible. I think she's just a menopausal old woman, deliberately being picky."
Rose was afraid of being overheard, especially in front of Alice's door, so she quickly covered Wendy's mouth. "Stop talking. Let's go back to the room first."
The two returned to the room, and Wendy sat on the sofa, kicking off her shoes in frustration. She didn't expect Alice to be so ruthless even with Jackson's presence.
She thought she had a good connection, and today was just a formality.
Thinking of Alice's previous favoritism toward Lillian, and recalling her suffering expression when she played the violin just now, Wendy picked up a cigarette case and lit a cigarette in annoyance.
But as soon as she took a puff, Rose took the cigarette away, crushed it, and waved her hand. "Mr. Frane cares about the child in your belly. Smoking will remain smell. Please restrain yourself."
Wendy looked annoyed and patted her stomach heavily. "So annoying!"
