Chapter 737
Lillian finished speaking and ignored Star, striding away.
Star watched her back, his eyes dark and brooding.
Lillian and Doris entered the elevator. Doris glanced at Lillian, "Lillian, that seemed to be Star from HorizonHive Media. Do you know her?"
Lillian gave her a brief look and said nothing.
Doris felt a bit uneasy and frowned, "I heard she's the daughter of the Price family. The Price family is not just any family; they have a lot of influence in New York. Don't get us into trouble and drag me down with you."
Lillian smiled at her, "Don't worry, you hid so quickly just now, she probably didn't remember you."
Doris could hear the sarcasm in Lillian's tone and looked slightly embarrassed. "I can't afford to offend the Price family's daughter."
It was human nature to avoid harm, and Lillian didn't seem angry, withdrawing her gaze.
The two arrived at the HR department responsible for the annual meeting. The assistant took their concept proposal and asked them to wait in a small office.
They said their deputy director, Ronnie Ford, would review the proposal and come over to discuss it in detail soon.
But Lillian and Doris waited for over an hour, completely ignored, with no one coming over.
Lillian checked the time and saw that it was getting closer to the end of the workday, so she left the lounge.
She was about to ask the assistant if the proposal had been submitted when she saw the director's office door open not far away.
Ronnie, with a big smile, was seeing off two women, Star and her assistant.
"Ms. Price, rest assured, as soon as we have the contract ready, we'll sign it immediately."
"I'll be waiting for your call then. I'll come over..."
"Oh, no need for you to make a special trip. I'll have my assistant bring the contract to you."
Lillian frowned and walked over. "Mr. Ford, I'm Lillian from The Kelly Media. We had an appointment..."
Before she could finish, Star's assistant pointed angrily at Lillian.
"You hurt Star and didn't even apologize. How dare you show up in front of us!"
Ronnie's eyes immediately turned sharp as he looked at Lillian and said sternly, "Are you the one who injured Ms. Price?"Lillian glanced at Star, who was holding her right wrist with her left hand, her right hand wrapped in thick white gauze.
It was so thick that anyone who didn't know might think her hand had been cut off.
Star didn't look at Lillian and said to Ronnie.
"Mr. Ford, it's fine. The wound has been treated, and I don't want to pursue it. Thank you for having the company doctor come over to bandage it."
Ronnie looked at Star, his demeanor immediately becoming more amiable.
"It's the least we could do. You're too kind. Since it happened in our company parking lot, I can't just ignore it."
Ronnie turned to Lillian with a stern face, "Lillian, right? I've reviewed your proposal, and there's no creativity in your annual meeting plan. I've decided to go with HorizonHive Media. You don't need to say anything more. Just apologize to Ms. Price and leave!"
Recently, Ronnie had heard some rumors about Star and their CEO Jackson.
It seemed to come from the social circles of Miracalia's elite.
They said Star and Jackson grew up together, and Star had even saved Jackson's life when they were kids.
For that, her finger was cut off by kidnappers, and Jackson had been deeply in love with her ever since.
Star was Jackson's future wife, no doubt about it.
Ronnie hadn't believed such hearsay until he met Star today.
Star was indeed missing a finger. How could a pampered young lady suffer such an injury?
When Star was getting her hand treated, Ronnie had subtly asked her about it, and sure enough, the injury was from protecting a childhood friend.
That confirmed it!
Lillian looked at Star again, who gave her a smug smile.
Lillian realized that Star must have investigated her and knew she was coming to Star Group to deliver the proposal today.
She also knew the appointment time with Ronnie and had deliberately injured her hand in the parking lot.
The purpose was to gain sympathy and make Ronnie have a bad impression of her, thus not considering the collaboration.
"Mr. Ford, I think there's been a misunderstanding..."
Lillian tried to explain, but Ronnie impatiently interrupted her.
"It seems you're not planning to apologize. In that case, I'll notify security to escort you out for causing trouble at Star Group!"
Lillian didn't expect the deputy director of Star Group's HR department to be so biased.
Lillian wanted to argue her case, but Ronnie gave her no chance, signaling the assistant to stop her while he went to see Star off with a smile.
Star walked a few steps and then turned back to Lillian, raising her eyebrows and speaking to Ronnie in a slightly louder voice.
"Mr. Ford, it's really fine. Don't make it hard for them. Just have them leave."
"Understood, understood. Ms. Price, you're as kind as you are beautiful."
They chatted as they walked to the elevator, with Ronnie even following Star into the elevator, intending to escort her to the parking lot.
"Ms. Price, since you're here, won't you go up to see Mr. Frane?"
Star smiled gently, "No, business is business. I don't want to disturb Jackson during work hours. You know he's a workaholic. Also, I hope you won't tell Jackson about my visit today. After all, your decision to work with HorizonHive Media isn't just based on mutual satisfaction, right?"
"Of course! Don't worry, I understand." Mr. Ford nodded immediately.
Star smiled approvingly.
The HR assistant quickly contacted security, who arrived promptly.
Lillian wasn't going to wait to be escorted out, but as she and Doris headed to the elevator, the security guards watched them closely.
It was as if they were troublemakers, drawing the attention of many employees.
They entered the elevator, and two security guards followed them in.
In the elevator, Doris kept her head down, her face red with embarrassment, and whispered to Lillian.
"This is all your fault! You said you wouldn't drag me down, but I've never been so humiliated! Why did you have to provoke Star?"
At that moment, the elevator dinged, arriving at the first-floor lobby.
The elevator doors opened, and Doris raised her hand to cover her face, rushing out.
Lillian was bumped out of the elevator by her, stumbling and colliding with someone.
