Chapter 234 No Mercy at All
Aiden responded, "Alright, Mr. Frane."
As he was about to close the car door, he saw Wendy lying there, suddenly opening her eyes in a dazed state and sitting up, still propping herself up on the seat.
Wendy asked, "Jackson, did I just hear you say the investment funds are being withdrawn, or did I mishear?"
Jackson's promise to the Sivan Family was to inject the investment in three installments.
Now that only the first installment had been invested, if there had been no further influx of funds, the Sivan group would have faced a financial crisis.
Given the current situation of the Sivan family, bankruptcy was not impossible in the event of such a financial crisis.
Wendy thought, 'How could this be?'
"Aren't you pretending anymore?" Jackson stared coldly at Wendy, who looked weak.
Wendy's nails immediately dug into her palm. Feeling extremely anxious, she tried to cover up her guilt, and cried out, "Jackson, I didn't..."
Jackson, however, didn't want to hear her excuses anymore, so he turned around to leave.
Wendy was now completely anxious. She got out of the car and caught up, trying to grab Jackson's arm, anxiously saying, "The investment in the Sivan group was a condition you agreed to! You can't go back on your word."
Jackson glanced at Wendy with a gaze as sharp as a knife.
Wendy's hand froze in place, not daring to reach out further.
Jackson withdrew his gaze, coldly saying, "You don't know where the line is. I have clearly told you not to provoke Lillian anymore."
A chill ran down Wendy's spine in an instant. Jackson did indeed say that.
Last time in her room, he had said that if she provoked Lillian again, he would take back what he had given her at any time.
But at that time, Lillian was still his wife.
Now, they had already filed for divorce, and Lillian wasn't his wife.
With such a high status, Jackson was being humiliated by Lillian. She was not at all worthy of his protection and affection.
Why did Jackson still have to pay so much for Lillian?
"Jackson, you can't do this. The Sivan family and the Frane family have been friends for many years, and you are cutting off the Sivan family's way out! I didn't provoke Lillian. I really don't know anything. Rose didn't tell me! Besides, nothing happened to Lillian."
The livestream was just beginning when Shirley snatched the phone away. She even exposed everything on the spot. Now, all the blame online was on Mary and Heroic.
Rose was also taken into custody, and it was uncertain if she could be released on bail smoothly.
In comparison, Lillian came out unscathed.
Wendy didn't understand why, with the outcome already like that, Jackson still wanted to withdraw his investment from the Sivan group.
Wendy felt a mix of sadness and anger, waves of dizziness and darkness clouding her mind, coupled with her pale face as if she were about to faint immediately.
Jackson just glanced at her and said coldly, "I'm not a cop. I don't need evidence."
Wendy's lips trembled. She dared not imagine what would happen if the Sivan Family went bankrupt.
When she recalled her hard childhood in the Young family, Wendy cried out.
She had long been accustomed to her current luxurious and comfortable life. She absolutely couldn't let herself fall back into that situation.
Wendy looked up at Jackson with pleading eyes, pleading anxiously, "Jackson, I was wrong. I'll go apologize to Lillian. I sincerely apologize. Please don't do this. My parents raised Lillian for six years, and she definitely wouldn't want the Sivan family to go bankrupt. I'll go beg her now."
Wendy hurried to leave, but Jackson's cold gaze swept over her as he snapped, "She doesn't need your apology! Wendy, you broke the rules, so you have to bear the consequences!"
His gaze was like a sharp blade, stopping Wendy's steps in place and making her realize that this matter was irreversible.
During this time, because of the baby in her belly, Wendy always had the feeling that Jackson cared for her.
At this moment, she deeply felt how ruthless Jackson could be.
How could he be so heartless towards her, showing no mercy at all?
Jackson didn't return to the company or the Frane house.
Instead, he went to Golden Oaks Manor, where Martin and Daisy lived.
Golden Oaks Manor was bustling during the day. Several luxury cars, none of them belonging to the Frane family, were parked in the yard.
Without greeting anyone, Jackson came straight over. As he got out of the car, a servant saw him in the hallway.
The servant was surprised. "Mr. Jackson Frane, you're back. Mrs. Frane has invited a few ladies over to play cards. Shall I inform her?"
Jackson was busy. He had been raised by his grandparents, so he and his parents had a respectful relationship, but they were not very close.
He rarely visited Golden Oaks Manor, and even when he did, he usually gave advance notice.
As the servant was about to go inform Daisy, Jackson's gaze turned slightly cold as he said, "No need."
The servant was ordered to stay in place as Jackson strode past her and into the mansion.
Soon he heard the ladies talking in the living room while playing cards.
"Mrs. Frane, Mr. Jackson Frane is really divorced?" a lady asked.
"That's true," Daisy said.
"Congratulations. You finally got rid of the annoying daughter-in-law, Lillian. If it weren't for her getting into his bed and Jackson's grandmother sympathizing with her and pressuring him to marry her, under Jackson's terms, he would have been free to choose his wife," the lady said.
