Chapter 413 Does He Love Her
"There's no one here," Jackson said.
Lillian looked around and realized the clerks had left.
She glared at Jackson, annoyed. "Seriously, Jackson? You never used to be like this!"
Jackson used to be so distant and wouldn't even kiss her at their wedding. Now, he seemed ready to kiss her anytime, anywhere.
Lillian remembered the clerks' teasing earlier.
"Don't you like it?" Jackson asked, his voice husky as he kissed her again, watching her reaction closely.
Lillian blushed but wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him back. "I like it, but I'm not used to doing this in front of others. They teased me."
Jackson asked, "What did they say?"
"They said you care so much about whether I'm cold or not, and you must really love me."
Lillian's heart raced. 'Does Jackson love me?' she wondered. She never dared to ask, and he never said he loved her, not even that he liked her.
But lately, he had changed. He cared for her, shared his troubles, refused to let her leave, kissed her passionately, got jealous, and even planned surprises.
Lillian thought, 'Even if it's not love, he must like me a bit.'
She hoped for a clear answer from Jackson. If he said he liked her, she would tell him how much she loved him, how she had loved him for years.
However, Jackson just kissed her forehead, held her shoulders, and turned her around.
He hugged her from behind, and Lillian saw their reflection in a large mirror.
Jackson bent down, his chin brushing her head. "Look at yourself. Aren't you gorgeous?"
Lillian saw herself in the white wedding dress, looking beautiful, and saw the amazement in Jackson's eyes as they embraced.
But sadness crossed her heart.
She remembered the time in Susan's hospital room when she reached for Jackson's hand, and he pulled away.
'Is Jackson avoiding my question?' she wondered. 'Maybe he doesn't understand what I want.'
Unwilling to give up, she asked bluntly, "Jackson, look into my eyes and answer me. Do you..."
Before she could finish, Jackson's phone rang.
He let go of her, checked his phone, and said, "The dress fits perfectly. Let's go with this one. I'll have Molly confirm the size. I need to take this call."
He patted her head, turned, and walked downstairs to answer the phone.
Lillian watched him leave, feeling a chill despite the store's heating.
She wrapped her arms around herself, feeling a sudden urge to rush over and grab his phone.
'Is that call really so urgent? Or is my question just too hard for him to answer?' she wondered.
Lillian lifted her skirt.
