Chapter 575

Before Oberon could even blink, Flora got all jittery and grabbed his hand. "Oberon, I'm not tired. I wanna have dinner with Ophelia!"

Oberon saw the panic in Flora's eyes. No way he could say no to her. The hesitation on his face disappeared in a flash.

He turned to Lillian and Jackson, flashing a smile at Jackson. "Mr. Frane, so this lady is your wife? My wife feels a special connection with Mrs. Frane. How about we all grab dinner together?"

Oberon was retired, with the Kelly family biz now run by Ambrose and his son-in-law Kenneth, but he knew Jackson from a couple of events back in the day.

Jackson respected Oberon as an old-timer in the biz world. He glanced at Ambrose and Anouk, then nodded with a smile. "Mr. Oberon Kelly, since you and your wife are in Miracalia, let me treat you to dinner. Plus, Mr. Ambrose Kelly once saved Lillian's life."

"I've tried to thank Mr. Ambrose Kelly twice, but he turned me down both times. Today, Lillian and I are inviting you to dinner. Hope Mr. Ambrose Kelly will accept this time."

Jackson looked at Ambrose.

Yeah, Jackson had sent Terry with gifts to thank Ambrose before, but Ambrose didn't take them.

Now, the two men locked eyes, one cold and stern, the other indifferent.

Ambrose gave a faint smile, easing the tension.

"Mr. Frane, you should ask Lillian first, since my grandparents want to invite her. As for me, I won't say no."

He was clearly hinting that Jackson was being a bit too bossy and not respecting Lillian.

Jackson's eyes darkened, and the vibe around them shifted.

But Ambrose had already turned to Lillian, his eyes warm, his voice gentle.

"Seren's flight is about to land. Will you be too tired to have dinner after picking her up? If it's too much, we can reschedule."

Everyone's eyes were on Lillian.

Ambrose's considerate manner made him seem more like Lillian's husband.

Terry, standing behind Jackson, didn't dare to look at Jackson's face. What was the point of Jackson going through all the trouble to assert his authority?

Compared to Ambrose, who was so thoughtful, never wasted words, and always acted like a gentleman, Jackson just seemed to fall short.

Lillian felt the pressure, and Flora, seeing her silence, got anxious.

"Ophelia, let's go have dinner. I'm starving. Come eat with me," she said, stepping forward and tugging at Lillian's sleeve.

Lillian met Flora's hopeful and hesitant gaze and couldn't say no.

Maybe it was the familiar vibe Flora shared with Lyra and Wade that made her feel so close and unwilling to disappoint her.

She nodded and said, "Okay, I'll pick up a friend and then join you for dinner, alright?"

Flora was thrilled. She then looked at Jackson and asked, confused, "Ophelia, who is he? Why don't I know him?"

Lillian, holding Flora's arm, smiled and said, "He's not important. I don't know him either."

Flora glanced at Jackson again, seeing his gloomy face, and shook her head, saying, "Ophelia, he's good-looking, but he's super cold and might even hit his wife. I have a good eye for people. Stay away from guys like him."

Jackson stayed silent.
