Chapter 579

"Mr. Oberon Kelly, you nailed it. I messed up big time with Lillian, and do I regret it. Everyone in Miracalia knows about the love between you and Mrs. Flora Kelly. It's the stuff of legends. Can you drop some wisdom on me?"

Oberon, who had seen his fair share of life, loved his booze.

Oberon nodded. "Owning up to your mistakes is a solid first step."

He started sharing his secrets on keeping a marriage smooth, chatting quietly about the tricks to a happy relationship.

Lillian watched, a bit stunned. Jackson's Star Group was doing well, so of course, he was a social pro. He just usually didn't bother buttering people up.

Right then, Jackson glanced over.

Their eyes locked, and Jackson's lips curled into a slight smile. "Mr. Oberon Kelly's right. The key to a good relationship is communication. I didn't talk much with Lillian before, but just 'cause we're apart doesn't mean it's over. I still dig her."

Jackson's voice was low and strong, and he didn't care who heard.

Lillian, on the other hand, was mortified and wanted to shut him up.

But her heart couldn't help but flutter.

She looked down, avoiding Jackson's intense gaze.

Jackson's smile grew, and he turned to Ambrose and Anouk. "Just a quick chat with Mr. Oberon Kelly has been eye-opening. With role models like them, Mr. Kelly and Anouk must be tight. When's the wedding? Lillian and I will definitely be there to celebrate."

Ambrose met Jackson's cool stare, his lips tight.

"Mr. Frane, you've got it wrong. Anouk's my sister; no way we're getting hitched. But speaking of you, Mr. Frane, your last wedding was quite the spectacle. I was on my way with a gift when I heard it was off. Such a bummer. Some regrets just can't be fixed, right, Mr. Frane?"

That wedding was a sore spot Jackson never wanted to revisit.

Thinking about it filled him with regret. The pain and embarrassment he caused Lillian at the wedding were his biggest regret.

Ambrose's reminder cracked Jackson's cool facade.

Jackson's face darkened, and panic flickered in his eyes as he looked at Lillian.

Lillian kept her head down, serving Flora food, not planning to bail Jackson out.

That wedding was also Lillian's deepest wound, a hurdle she couldn't get over.

Lately, Jackson's sweet gestures and love confessions had moved Lillian. Many times, the walls around her heart wavered.

But thinking about that wedding, all her courage vanished.

The mess was Jackson's doing, and it had been the talk in Miracalia for a while. Ambrose's words were nothing compared to that.

The tension was thick. Jackson's fingers trembled slightly as he held his glass. He tilted his head back and downed the wine, his voice a bit hoarse. "Mr. Kelly, you're right. Some regrets can't be fixed, but the future matters more than the past. Regrets teach us to cherish more!"

Hearing him say he'd cherish more, Lillian's fingers twisted the tablecloth, her eyes misty.

Just then, Anouk exclaimed, "Mr. Frane, you're hurt, you're bleeding."

Lillian looked up and saw blood at the corner of Jackson's lips.

It was from the bite she gave him in the car earlier. When Jackson drank, his emotions got the best of him, and he pressed the glass too hard against his lips, reopening the wound.
