Chapter 607

"Lillian, you probably don't know this yet, but Jackson got into a car wreck the night he went looking for you. He passed out after leaving your room and is getting treated now. He's just as messed up as you are."

Gray said this, hoping Lillian would get where Jackson was coming from. Even if she didn't care, she shouldn't be so cold.

Gray was Jackson's buddy and had never seen him this wrecked in over twenty years. Naturally, he was speaking up for his friend.

But Shirley lost it first. She spun around, grabbed Gray, and shoved him out, yelling, "Even though Jackson got hit by a car, what does that have to do with Lillian? He should blame Star or Wendy, not Lillian! She wasn't the one who called him out there! Get out now."

Even though he got pushed away, Gray wasn't backing down. He stared at Lillian, frowned, and said, "Lillian, don't you have anything to say?"

Gray thought about all the love between Lillian and Jackson and how she used to care for him. He figured she'd eventually soften up.

But lying on the hospital bed, Lillian didn't even blink. She coldly replied, "Then tell him that playing the sympathy card doesn't work every time."

"Did you hear that? Go and talk Jackson out of it. Get out!"

Shirley kept pulling Gray, but he clung to the door. "Lillian, you got it wrong. Jackson isn't playing the sympathy card. And he didn't ask me to say any of this."

Annoyed, Shirley let go of Gray, stepped back, and lifted her foot to kick him out.

She wanted to boot him out directly, but Gray was used to her moves.

When Shirley kicked, Gray sidestepped and caught her leg perfectly.

So, even though Gray got pushed out, Shirley got dragged out of the hospital room with him.

"Let go! You're an actor, for crying out loud. Don't grab a woman's leg in public. Have some dignity!"

Shirley, with her leg held, hopped on one foot.

She bent her elbow to hit Gray's back, but he dodged again. Shirley found her hands caught by Gray and pushed forward.

She struggled and resisted, but Gray countered her every move.

Shirley realized Gray had gotten a lot stronger.

In the past, she could hold her own against him, but now Gray had made serious progress, showing the clear differences in size and strength between men and women.

She found herself completely subdued, unable to fight back.

Gray dragged Shirley into the elevator.

Shirley was like a wild tiger, yet Lillian treated her like family.

Jackson spoke harshly to Shirley, and Lillian hated Jackson, making Shirley even more arrogant.

Gray looked down at Shirley struggling with all her might, her face flushed, and thought, 'Jackson, this is as much as I can help you.'

In the hospital room, Lillian lay down to try to sleep, but maybe because the room suddenly got too quiet, she tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

Feeling sore and weak, she held onto the cabinet and slowly got out of bed.

Without realizing it, Lillian found herself outside the nursery. She walked up and looked through the glass at the babies lying inside.

So small, so soft, so cute.

Beside her, a young couple was looking at their baby. The man held his wife's shoulder from behind, talking about the baby's name.

The woman noticed Lillian standing there for a long time and smiled.

"How old is your baby? Which one is it? My daughter is the one waving her little fists..."

She didn't finish her sentence, seeing tears streaming down Lillian's face.

She stopped in shock, and her husband, sensing something was wrong, shook his head at his wife, guiding her away silently.

Lillian stood there, motionless, until a warm, broad hand reached from behind and covered her eyes.
