Chapter 430
Star relaxed and lay back on the stretcher bed, giving Jackson a relieved smile before closing her eyes.
Jackson exchanged a look with the doctor, who quickly moved to treat Star. She felt her body getting heavy.
Before losing consciousness, she heard Jackson say, "You'll go back to your family. My bride's waiting for me. Sorry, I can't stay."
Star tried to hold on, but darkness soon enveloped her.
As the ambulance came to a stop, Jackson released her hand and jumped out quickly.
The Maybach trailing the ambulance also halted, and snowflakes began to fall.
Terry opened the back door and approached with an umbrella. "Mr. Frane, your suit is in the car, you..."
Jackson pushed the umbrella aside and marched to the driver's seat, yanking the door open. "Get out!"
Floyd, the driver, was stunned but quickly got out. Jackson jumped in and sped off, the Maybach cutting through the snow like a streak of black lightning.
Lillian was greeting guests in the hall when she spotted Wendy in a long green satin dress. Lillian frowned, feeling irritated.
Wendy smiled and walked over. "Lillian, congrats! But where's the groom? Anyone might think you're marrying Kevin. You two look perfect together."
Shirley stepped forward angrily. "Wendy, I'm surprised you're still alive."
Kevin sneered, "Not for long. She might have an accident tomorrow."
Their words made Wendy's face turn a shade of anger.
Lillian glared at Wendy. "I didn't invite you. Leave now, or I'll call security."
Wendy smiled. "You didn't invite me, but the Frane family invited Susan and Dominic. I'm here representing the Price family."
"When did you marry into the Price family? No one knows. You're shameless," Shirley said, ready to hit Wendy.
Wendy stepped back. "I'm a guest; you're being rude. I even brought a gift."
She handed a box to Lillian and whispered, "Did you really think Jackson was on a business trip? He went to pick up Star."
Lillian froze, her face turning pale. She staggered, and the box fell, revealing a shattered diamond bracelet.
"I was sincerely congratulating you. How could you break my gift?" Wendy's voice rose, drawing attention from the surrounding guests.
"Lillian, are you okay? What did she say?" Shirley asked, noticing Lillian’s dazed state and her trembling, cold hands.
Lillian felt everything blur around her, her mind only focusing on Wendy’s words. Jackson wasn't on a business trip; he went to get Star.
Now it all made sense.
