Chapter 187 Divorce No Matter What
Daisy's eyes were full of disdain as she asked, "Can you really get five million? Lillian, you're just putting on a show. You never really intended to divorce Jackson, right?"
She knew that Lillian had never worked outside.
If Lillian were to divorce, then how could she get five million? It was just her ploy to keep Jackson.
Daisy never hid her dislike and disdain for Lillian. In her eyes, Lillian was determined to cling to the Frane family. So how would she leave easily?
Lillian knew Daisy's thoughts, so she tried to remain calm and said, "Don't worry. I have signed the divorce agreement, and I am determined to divorce."
However, Daisy still didn't believe it. "Swear it."
Lillian smiled. "Believe it or not, I'm not obligated to make you believe. I came to see Jeffrey today. If you have nothing else, I'll leave first."
As Lillian turned to leave, Daisy grabbed her and mocked her, "You dare not swear!"
Lillian frowned as she said, "You don't need to provoke me. You won't believe me whether I swear or not. The time agreed upon with Jackson is just in over ten days. Stay calm. You'll see it in a few days. But if you keep bothering me, I perhaps will get annoyed and then refuse to leave."
"Are you threatening me?" Daisy was furious.
Lillian pulled her hand away. "Maybe."
Daisy stared at Lillian, feeling incredibly uncomfortable.
The once submissive and compromising Lillian seemed completely different now. She seemed to be telling the truth.
The Franes could kick Lillian out and make her a mistress. However, why was she, a pitiful foster child in the Frane Family, so eager to escape from the Frane Family as if it were hell?
Daisy was extremely annoyed. She took a deep breath before nodding.
"If that's the case, there's no need to wait for over ten days. Here is the five million I prepared. Contact Jackson immediately and go to the State Court to get a divorce now."
She took out a bank card from her bag and handed it to Lillian.
Lillian glanced down and shook her head. "I don't need it."
"Do you really not need it, or do you really not intend to divorce? Lillian, if it weren't for the Franes taking you in fourteen years ago, you wouldn't get what you have now. You should know your place and repay our kindness. You and Jackson are totally different. If you hadn't done that shameful thing four years ago and hadn't pleased and confused Lyra, making her side with you, how could you have married into the Frane family and led a good life?"
Lillian had always known Daisy's contempt for her, as well as that of most people.
However, she didn't know that hearing these words from Daisy was so harsh and piercing, making it difficult for her to bear. Her face turned pale.
She clenched her hands and declared once again, "I will divorce without your card. I have an agreement with Jackson that I will repay this money with my ability, so I'm not playing tricks to delay. Don't worry. Even if I have to sell my kidney or blood, or beg on the streets, I will repay every penny!"
Her clear eyes turned red, and there was determination in them.
Daisy looked at Lillian. After a moment, she lightly sneered and put the card back in her bag, saying, "Great. I'll believe you this time. I hope you're not pretending to be noble!"
Lillian smiled, "So, when I repay the money, will I then cut ties with the Frane family?"
She could finally rid herself of the heavy debt and no longer be looked down upon by Daisy, deserving of self-respect and protecting her pride.
Once she had repaid the five million, she could finally be her true self.
