Chapter 829
Dominic sure knew how to keep his cool.
Lillian couldn't help but see him in a new light.
Even with Jackson being so blunt, Dominic remained unfazed.
"Alright, let's offer the lakeside villa at Central Mansion as a thank-you gift," Jackson said casually.
Dominic's expression didn't change, but Star, standing beside him, looked visibly agitated.
"No way! That's not happening!"
The lakeside villa at Central Mansion was hers.
Since returning to the Price family, Dominic had showered her with affection on the surface, but in reality, he hadn't given her anything substantial.
The jewelry and accessories she had were only for use; whether they would actually belong to her in the future was uncertain.
The villa was the only property officially under her name.
Star had begged for it for a long time, and Dominic probably felt the need to give her some fixed assets to maintain appearances, so he gave her the lakeside villa.
After getting the villa, Star hired a designer to renovate it and redesign the garden.
Every corner of that place was filled with her efforts. How could it be given to Jackson as a thank-you gift?
However, before Star could finish her protest, Dominic frowned and glared at her.
"Star, even though you love that villa, it's nothing compared to Logan. Besides, transferring it to Jackson's name isn't a big deal. You can still visit whenever you want in the future."
Dominic's eyes held a warning. A daughter of the Price family shouldn't be so petty.
Star's nails dug into her palm. She didn't dare argue and quickly masked her distress, nodding.
"Dad's right."
Lillian could easily tell that Dominic was hinting that Star and Jackson were bound to get married eventually.
The property would be the same no matter whose name it was under.
Lillian felt a pang of irritation and was about to speak when Jackson interjected.
"Whether Ms. Price can visit in the future depends on the villa's new owner."
Dominic and Star looked over, puzzled by Jackson's words.
Lillian was also confused and turned her head.
Jackson looked down at her, smiling.
"After all, it was Lillian who called the police about the child abuse and saved Logan from those vile people. The villa should be given to Lillian as a thank-you gift, don't you think?"
Star was already upset about losing her villa. She had hoped to marry Jackson, thinking that if the villa was transferred to him, it would still be hers in the future.
But now, Jackson was asking for the villa for Lillian. The villa she had poured her heart into would now be enjoyed by Lillian?
Star felt a surge of anger rising in her throat, her face turning pale.
Even Dominic's expression stiffened slightly, but at this point, there was no point in refusing.
It would only make them look worse.
Dominic had no choice but to accept the loss and said, "Lillian, since you've left the Frane family and divorced, if you don't have a place to stay in Miracalia, as someone who watched you grow up, it's only right to give you a villa."
Lillian let out a cold laugh. "No need. You said it was a thank-you gift for saving Logan. Don't make it sound like you're pitying me and giving me a handout. If you don't want to give the thank-you gift, just say so. There's no need for this charade."
Did he think she couldn't tell that he was reminding her of her divorce and mocking her for being broke and homeless, suggesting she shouldn't stay at the Peace Mansion?
Dominic was really overstepping. How shameless!
Jackson chuckled, pulling Lillian closer. "Sweetheart, I'm starting to think the villa at Central Mansion isn't all that. How about we forget it? There's an island up for auction in a few days. We can check it out and buy it if you like."
Star had just felt a bit relieved when Jackson said to forget the villa, but then he mentioned buying an island for Lillian. She was fuming.
Lillian wrapped her arm around Jackson's, smiling brightly.
"Really? I want to build a castle on the island. Oh, and I want to post the video from the hospital online to raise awareness about nanny abuse. The video isn't ready yet, so I need to work on it."
Lillian's smile was radiant, but Dominic and Star's faces fell.
Star frowned. "Lillian, you can't post that video online. Logan is so young and has already suffered so much. Even if you misunderstand us and dislike Logan, you can't let him be judged by people online. How will he cope when he grows up?"
If the video went online, the Price family's reputation would be ruined, becoming a laughingstock in Miracalia.
The heir of the Price family, abused by a nanny. They couldn't afford that disgrace.
Lillian laughed. "Star, you're hilarious. You keep saying I dislike Logan. If I did, would I have exposed your nanny's abuse? I think the real person who dislikes Logan isn't me."
Star wanted to argue, but Dominic stopped her.
He had always thought Lillian was an easy-to-manipulate young girl with no background.
He didn't expect her to be so sharp-tongued.
Dominic knew that continuing to argue would get them nowhere. If they angered Lillian and she posted the video or spoke to the media, the Price family's reputation would be in tatters.
Dominic glanced at Star and said, "Star, you misunderstood Lillian. She saved Logan, and we're here to thank her. Apologize to Lillian."
Star was seething. She had been humiliated all night, either getting scolded or dragged to the police station, and now she had to apologize.
But under Dominic's stern gaze, Star looked at Lillian with teary eyes and said, "I'm sorry, Lillian. I was too emotional earlier."
Lillian smirked. "It's fine. I'm used to it."
She was used to Star always being emotional, like a mad dog.
Star understood the insult but kept her head down, fists clenched. Dominic continued, "Lillian, I'll arrange for the villa at Central Mansion to be transferred to you as a thank-you gift tomorrow."
Lillian nodded. "Then I won't refuse."
The Price family's property, why not take it?
Especially since Star was so attached to it, Lillian wanted it even more.
Dominic smiled warmly. "Of course. Is Logan asleep? Jackson, I'm very worried about Logan. Can you take us to see him?"
"Logan is asleep. Let's not disturb him. I'll send him back to the Price Villa tomorrow."
Jackson had no intention of letting them stay longer, especially since Logan was sleeping in his and Lillian's master bedroom.
There was no way he would let Star and Dominic in.
Dominic looked concerned. "No, Logan had a concussion today. As his grandfather, I can't sleep without seeing him."
Jackson's lips thinned. "You don't trust me?"
Dominic quickly denied it. "Of course not. How about this? If it's really inconvenient, I won't insist. But Logan will wake up in the middle of the night and might cry if he doesn't see family. Let Star stay to take care of him."
