Chapter 37 Medical Dispute

Wendy stepped forward, looking hurt.

"Lillian, are you still mad about last time? I'm really sorry. I fainted because of my poor appetite and low blood sugar from the pregnancy, and Jackson thought you pushed me. He just cares too much about the baby. Lillian, I truly apologize. Can you forgive me?" Wendy's face was full of sincerity, making it hard for anyone to blame her, but Lillian sensed the deepest malice.

She couldn't stand Wendy and still remembered their first meeting.

When Grace brought Wendy into the Sivan family's living room, Wendy immediately hugged Lillian, then quickly let go and apologized nervously. "I'm sorry. Did I dirty your dress? I didn't mean to..."

Back then, Lillian hadn't figured out what was going on, but Grace, feeling sorry for Wendy, hugged her and gave Lillian a reproachful look.

"Mom, who is she?" Lillian asked, confused about why her mom was hugging another child. But as soon as she asked, Wendy trembled like a scared bird. She cried, "Lillian, do you not like me? I'm sorry. I'll leave..."

Grace picked up Wendy and sternly said to Lillian, "Don't call me mom again. I'm not your mom!"

After all these years, Wendy hadn't changed a bit.

Lillian smirked. "Fine, then bow. If you really want to apologize, why not bow? Otherwise, it wouldn't show your sincerity."

Lillian mocked her, and Wendy was stunned.

Wendy couldn't agree. She turned to Jackson for help, her eyes welling up with tears. Lillian followed her gaze, her cold eyes settling on Jackson.

Today, Lillian wore a light yellow dress, her long hair casually clipped with a shark clip, two strands of soft hair falling on her face, highlighting her fair and delicate skin. She sat next to Barry, the wind blowing her skirt against Barry's suit pants, looking obedient.

Lillian had been away from home for eight days, not counting the night she jumped on a stranger's motorcycle. Now, she was sending heart-shaped lunch boxes to another man.

Jackson's cold eyes narrowed, making him look even more distant.

He said sternly, "I misunderstood you that day. It had nothing to do with Wendy! You slapped her and vented your anger. Don't be unreasonable!"

Lillian's heart tightened. She didn't know what she was expecting, but she thought Jackson might be different from Grace back then.

Before Lillian could respond, Barry stood up and said, "Mr. Frane, you're wrong. If someone insists on arguing even when they're wrong, why should the right ones forgive them?"

Jackson's gaze shifted to Barry, their eyes meeting like swords clashing in the air.

Jackson sneered. "Dr. Hall, you're also wrong. In a marriage, it's not about being right or wrong, but about caring for each other. Lillian, come here."

Jackson's gaze locked onto Lillian again, and he reached out his hand towards her.

Lillian looked at his outstretched hand, feeling her heart being squeezed.

‘Jackson said that caring for each other is crucial in a marriage, but does he care for me?’ Lillian thought.

Yet Jackson’s words and gaze were so deceptive, making Lillian hesitate, tempted to reach out and hold his hand.

But before Lillian could react, Wendy stepped in between them, anxiously speaking, "Jackson, Dr. Hall, please don't argue. I'll apologize to Lillian by bowing."

Wendy bent down to bow, but suddenly a sharp and vicious voice rang out. "Barry, you heartless doctor! You watched my son die without saving him. You owe me my son's life!"

With that voice, a middle-aged man in a black long-sleeved shirt suddenly pulled out a knife from his clothes and began wildly waving it towards them.
