Chapter 476 Ambrose's Story

Lillian knew Jackson was talking about Ambrose.

She found it ironic. Jackson wanted to take full responsibility for Star and make amends.

However, she'd only met Ambrose a few times, and Jackson couldn't stand it.

She was ready to unleash a torrent of curses at him.

But she had decided to leave, unwilling to drag anyone else into the situation, especially given her collaboration with Star.

Ambrose had already agreed to help, and she felt an overwhelming sense of guilt. She worried that once she was gone, Jackson might take his anger out on Ambrose.

Facing Jackson's intense gaze and commanding demeanor, she hesitated, stifling her emotions. Finally, she said coolly, "You're talking about Mr. Kelly? We've barely met a few times. The last time he sent flowers was just a gesture for all the dancers. Since I was pregnant and in a special situation, the others let me have the flowers. You're reading too much into this."

Jackson's expression softened slightly upon hearing her explanation.

But being a man himself, he knew better. It was clear that Ambrose's true intentions weren't lost on him. The Kelly Group had its fingers in many pies, and a dance troupe was hardly worth Ambrose's personal attention.

But Jackson kept that to himself.

He ran his fingers through Lillian's long hair and started the car again. "Ambrose was adopted by the Kelly family, but he has gained full recognition and trust from Oberon. Do you know why?"

Lillian was taken aback. "I thought he was the heir to the Kelly Group. He's actually adopted?"

Jackson, noting her shock, couldn't help but smirk internally, 'Is Ambrose deliberately hiding this?'

"The Kelly family was Oberon's previous household. Oberon and his wife had a strong relationship and only one daughter, Ophelia, whom they protected fiercely. They also adopted an heir. Ophelia only had one daughter who passed away early. The Kelly family has a tradition of adopting an heir. Ambrose was adopted by Ophelia and thus became the heir to the Kelly family."

Lillian was stunned, finding it hard to reconcile Ambrose's image with that of an adopted son.

She scoffed dismissively, her own experience coloring her view. "Do you really buy into such hearsay? Back in school, there were rumors that I was going to marry Kevin."

Jackson frowned. "Who said that?"

He knew the older generation had tried to match her with Kevin but was unaware of such unpleasant gossip.

"It was a rumor that spread around school. I was mocked frequently, and Kevin couldn't handle it, so we've never gotten along."

Jackson looked at Lillian with intensity. "You were raised by me; no one else has a say."

Mentioning Kevin reminded Jackson of the many misunderstandings over the years and the tampered diary.

With a chilly edge to his voice, his possessiveness showed through.

Lillian felt her breath catch under his piercing gaze, turning her head away. "Just drive."

Jackson fixed his eyes on the road, and after a moment, returned to the topic at hand. "Anouk is arrogant and domineering. A couple of years ago, when Calliope, a top-tier actress, and Ambrose were involved in two scandals, Anouk blacklisted her."

Lillian had seen Calliope in several of her shows and was quite fond of the actress. Once a dazzling star, Calliope had suddenly been embroiled in scandals, labeled as a home wrecker, and then quickly vanished from the public eye.

Her curiosity piqued, Lillian's eyes widened as she turned to Jackson, her interest burning bright.

"So what's the real story? Was Calliope really involved with Ambrose? Were the rumors true? And by the way, what happened to Calliope? Is she not acting anymore? Did Ambrose hide her away in his house or something?"

Jackson had no idea what the truth was. It seemed she missed the point entirely.

He tapped the steering wheel lightly, his tone nonchalant. "Anyway, Ambrose is married. It's best for you to stay away from him."

"Got it, I understand," Lillian replied casually. She wasn't close to Ambrose and was about to head overseas soon. Jackson's concern seemed excessive.

Back at the Peace Mansion, after Jackson had showered and come downstairs, he saw Lillian by the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, bending slightly as she arranged roses in a pristine white vase.

She was dressed in a simple, loose lavender loungewear, her long hair falling softly around her face, her eyes lowered with a serene, gentle smile.

Outside the window, the sky was painted with a sprawling sunset, and Lillian's figure looked like something out of a painting.

Jackson paused at the top of the staircase, standing there silently, lost in the moment for a long time.
