Chapter 326 Breaking Our Hearts

Lillian's steps halted, her heart sinking deeper and deeper.

Lillian instantly felt deceived, feeling like a fool for caring so much.

She thought, 'It turned out that Jackson's injury was intentional. He has schemed to deceive me, all for Taylor. Is he just like Daisy, only caring about Taylor?'

When Lillian came to her senses, she realized that the two bodyguards who had been smoking had already left, and her legs were numb from standing.

Lillian slowly squatted down, hugging her knees. After a long time, she stood up again.

She carried the lunch box to Jackson's hospital room, wanting to ask him directly why he had to deceive her.

However, just as she opened the door with a crack, she heard voices.

"Jackson, did you successfully win back your wife? Wasn't Lillian crying and insisting on a divorce and leaving the country before?"

It was Mike's voice, followed by Gray's laughter.

"Women are all bluster. Can't Jackson handle one woman? Lillian isn't stupid. She spent a lot of time becoming Jackson's wife."

Listening to their mockery, Lillian felt extremely uncomfortable, perhaps because she was overly sensitive.

Over the years, she had heard all kinds of rumors and derogatory comments. Even though Mike and Gray's tone and words weren't too harsh, the contempt in their words still stung her heart.

She knew that the disparity in status between her and Jackson was a fact, and some things were not worth paying too much attention to.

She still hoped that Jackson would say something in her defense, explaining that she wasn't that kind of person, or at least tell Gray and the others to say less.

However, at this moment, Jackson's familiar voice rang out with a hint of sarcasm. "Can a cat raised from a young age really leave its owner? It can't escape."

His casual and arrogant words perfectly echoed Gray and the others' contempt.

In Jackson's heart, Lillian was like that.

With a crook of his finger and a little trickery, she would become that silly woman.

Lillian didn't want to rush in and go crazy, making a fool of herself in front of them.

She didn't want to listen any longer. Clenching the lunch box, she turned and quickly fled.

In the ward, Gray and Mike could hardly bear to look at Jackson's smug expression.

Mike shook his head, teasing, "Jackson, don't forget, the cat at home can scratch, too. Be careful. Lillian might scratch your face tomorrow!"

"Spending money on a cat like Lillian does would be too costly." Gray chimed in.

Jackson's smile faded as he said coldly, "You guys don't understand. Alright, get out of here."

Mike understood that Jackson was annoyed that he and Gray would be interrupting him and Lillian later.

Mike sensibly got up, patted Gray on the shoulder, and said, "Let's not stay here and watch. Let's go have some fun."

Gray waved his hand and left with Mike.

When Lillian got into the car, her heart was aching, and her phone rang.

Lillian looked down and saw a text from an unknown number.

Unknown sender: [Have you asked your husband about the woman he's keeping in your marital home? I bet you don't dare to ask. Lillian, you're a pathetic coward!]

Lillian's already aching heart tightened even more because of this text, making her clutch her chest in pain.

With trembling hands, she turned off her phone.

But just then, a call came in.

Lillian thought it was Wendy again and answered, "Will you stop already?"

"Lillian, what's wrong?" It was Nathan's voice on the other end of the line.

Lillian was stunned, glanced at the screen, and quickly said, "Nathan, I'm sorry. I thought it was a spam call."

"Lillian! Did you see today's trending news? Don't you have anything to say?" Nathan asked.

Lillian froze. She had been immersed in Jackson's sweet words recently and hadn't paid attention to the outside world.

"What trending news?" Lillian asked.

"Lillian! You're really breaking our hearts!"

"Lillian, you don't care about us anymore!"

The phone was obviously on speaker, and as soon as Lillian spoke, the members of SV all started complaining collectively.
