Chapter 322 Henry's Child
Lillian gave Jackson a surprised look and asked, "What paternity test?"
She took the phone from Jackson's hand and stared at the report on the screen in confusion.
This wasn't a paternity test. It was a kinship identification report.
When Lillian saw that the result indicated a grandparent-grandchild relationship, she was puzzled.
"Whose grandchild is Wendy's child?" Lillian asked.
She quickly flipped back through the report and, after seeing the two names listed, exclaimed in shock, "The child in Wendy's womb is actually Dominic's grandchild, Henry's child!"
It turned out to be Henry's child!
Henry had passed away, so it wasn't surprising that Jackson treated this child as family.
Henry had been busy with Price Group's overseas business for the past two years, just like Wendy, who was also often in Australia.
Lillian remembered that when Wendy returned to the country, she came back with Jackson and the Price couple.
The netizens didn't know the relationship and mistakenly thought the Price couple were Wendy's parents, believing Jackson was accompanying Wendy's parents on a trip abroad.
Lillian suddenly understood why they had returned to the country together.
"The Price Group is at a critical point in going public, and Henry's death had too much of an impact, so you avoided mentioning that Wendy's child is Henry's, right?" Lillian asked Jackson, and Jackson nodded.
"Henry and Wendy were never together. At a party, he accidentally took a drug given by a competitor and happened to encounter Wendy. Wendy was forced that night, and that was how she got pregnant. Wendy originally didn't want the child, but the Sivan Group had issues. I used my investment in the Sivan Group and resources to help Wendy enter the entertainment industry in exchange for her agreeing to have the child."
Because of this, Jackson felt somewhat guilty towards Wendy.
After all, for a woman, being forced to give birth to her assaulter's child was not a pleasant thing.
Moreover, the child was destined to be fatherless.
Lillian was stunned again, not expecting the situation to turn out this way.
She thought, 'No wonder I always feel that Wendy lacks genuine maternal love for the child in her womb. If she truly loves that baby, she won't keep doing bad things while pregnant. Previously, she even pushed me into the pool.'
"But that day, Grandma Lyra forced Wendy to do a paternity test. It seemed like the Prices didn't know the child was Henry's," Lillian said confusedly.
"Uncle Dominic knew. Aunt Susan is already in the late stages of lung cancer, which is very difficult. Now, with the blow of losing her child, she can't bear any more hope or disappointment. Wendy's pregnancy was unstable before, and she almost had a miscarriage. Uncle Dominic and I decided to keep it from Aunt Susan, fearing that if the child couldn't be kept, giving her hope but disappointing her again might even shorten her remaining time," Jackson's voice gradually turned worried as he elaborated.
The baby in Wendy's womb was tied to Henry's death and also to Dominic's concealment of Henry's death for the sake of a smooth public listing.
Susan couldn't afford any more accidents because of this child.
Moreover, Henry had lived an upright life, but the way Wendy's child was born was not honorable.
The deceased had passed, and Jackson didn't want Henry to suffer any more criticism.
Too many things were involved.
Once the child's biological father was revealed, many things couldn't be hidden anymore.
Lillian hadn't expected Susan to be in the late stages of lung cancer. She had been a bit angry about being pushed into the table corner by Susan before, but now that discomfort had faded.
"No wonder you went along with Grandma Lyra's wishes last time and had Wendy do an amniocentesis. It was because you knew Wendy had intimate relations with other men and were worried the child wasn't Henry's," Lillian remarked.
Lillian now understood everything, but she still felt that Jackson was hiding something, making her slightly uneasy.
As she was pondering what else was wrong, Jackson squeezed her hand, interrupting her thoughts.
