Chapter 189 Did Jackson Still Care About Her?
When Lillian emerged from the elevator, her face had regained its calmness, but her heart hurt so much. She was grateful she hadn't cried.
Exhausted, she had been bustling about recently, sleeping only four to five hours a day, especially since she was pregnant. Recently, she always felt sleepy. But she was happy, feeling that everything was worth it.
As long as she gathered five million dollars to repay Jackson, she would no longer owe the Frane family. From then on, she could be free and just be herself.
Taking a deep breath, Lillian straightened her back and lifted her head with a smile.
To her surprise, she saw Wendy and Grace approaching.
"Jeffrey's condition has worsened, but you are smiling here." Grace frowned, sternly reprimanding Lillian.
Wendy held Grace back, gently persuading her, "Mom, don't speak to Lillian like that. She must be worried about Jeffrey too, or she wouldn't have come to the hospital."
Wendy's seemingly understanding demeanor made Lillian feel nauseous even with her eyes closed.
Without stopping her steps, Lillian was about to walk past the two when Wendy grabbed her.
"Lillian, don't worry too much about Jeffrey. My baby will be born in a few months, and then it will surely be a match for him, completely curing his illness," Wendy said as she patted her belly.
Lillian's gaze fell on Wendy's abdomen. It could be due to Wendy's puffing out her stomach, or perhaps the child was growing well, so Wendy's abdomen had started to show a slight bulge.
Lillian's breathing paused, and her heart felt like pierced.
Grace mocked as she patted Wendy, "Who knows if she's here to see Jeffrey or to seduce Jackson!"
Then She turned to Lillian, "Lilian, I know you have a good relationship with Jeffrey. Now that Jeffrey is ill and his life is in danger, only Wendy's baby can save him. This is fate. If you truly care for Jeffrey, divorce Jackson quickly, and don't delay Wendy and Jackson's engagement."
Lillian lowered her head with a self-deprecating smile on her face.
It seemed like everyone was waiting for her to divorce Jackson.
However, Wendy was the one who ruined her marriage. What right did Wendy have to be so self-righteous in front of her?
Lillian raised her head, revealing a mocking smile. "Engagement? But why did my husband say he wouldn't get engaged to Wendy?"
"How is that possible? Wendy is carrying Jackson's child, and this child is the hope to save Jeffrey's life. How could he not marry Wendy?" Grace frowned.
Wendy touched her belly and said, "Lillian, Jackson is only saying that out of his sense of responsibility towards you. He loves the baby. Have you forgotten that Jackson even bought a small asteroid for the baby?"
Suddenly, Lillian grasped Wendy's wrist and said, "Are you sure your baby is Jackson's? Alright. Let's go for a paternity test right now."
Wendy panicked and tried to free her hand. "Let go of me! I'm not going!"
Lillian stared at Wendy, raising an eyebrow and smiling. "Aren't you so sure that the child is Jackson's? Why are you afraid now?"
Wendy struggled to break free from Lillian. "I'm not afraid. I'm just worried that amniocentesis might harm the baby!"
She held onto Grace and said, "Mom, don't waste time with her. Let's go visit Jeffrey. I'm really worried."
"Alright. Let's go." Grace supported Wendy, and the two quickly entered the elevator.
Lillian turned back to glance at Wendy. She looked quite flustered just now.
Did Wendy really lie about this?
However, Jackson did indeed care about Wendy's baby, which caused Lillian's sorrow, compared to his attitude towards her pregnancy.
