Chapter 31 Mr. Frane's Secret
Lillian sneered as she pushed through the crowd to leave.
Jackson frowned and pulled Wendy away from his arms. She staggered, but Rose caught her.
Jackson's eyes locked onto Wendy's face. The right side was fair and smooth, but the left side had a clear palm print. The way she fell suggested she was hit on the right, but that wasn't the case. He had been so focused on Lillian that he missed this obvious inconsistency.
Wendy felt uneasy under Jackson's sharp gaze, tears welling up. "Jackson, I really just felt dizzy and couldn't stand. It's understandable that Lillian hit me in anger."
Jackson's eyes darkened. "Do you think you deserved it for making Lillian apologize?"
Wendy clutched her stomach. "I'm sorry. I was too flustered and spoke carelessly."
Jackson, mainly concerned about the child she was carrying, gestured for Rose to support Wendy and led her towards the ward.
Once inside, Rose helped Wendy lie down. Wendy's face was now more swollen, and she looked at Jackson with teary eyes. She expected him to show some concern or reprimand Lillian, but he remained silent, merely watching as Rose fetched ice packs.
Feeling wronged and disappointed, Wendy hadn't been hit since she returned to the Sivan family.
She held the ice pack to her face, gasping in pain. " Jackson, I envy Lillian for having your care, being able to do whatever she wants."
Rose thought Wendy was being a bit too much and discreetly tugged at her, then turned to smile warmly at Jackson.
Jackson placed a food box by Jeffrey's bedside, filled with cute pastries that children liked.
Jackson, with his unyielding pride, would never go out of his way to buy breakfast for Wendy.
Trying to please him, Wendy said, "These pastries look so nice. Jackson, can I try one?"
Jackson shot her a cold look, and Wendy didn't dare say more.
As Jackson left the hospital, he called Lillian twice, but she didn't answer.
Back at Star Group, Terry greeted him, "Mr. Frane, the Green Group's people have arrived, and the meeting is ready."
Jackson nodded and strode towards the meeting room. Just as he reached the door, Mike Green emerged from the bathroom and bumped into him.
Mike, Jackson's childhood friend, had a different style—devilishly handsome and just as tall. He stared at Jackson, hands in his pockets, raising an eyebrow. "You seem to be in a bad mood. Did you have a fight with Lillian?"
Ignoring him, Jackson walked past, coolly saying, "If you keep talking, your mouth will get sore."
Mike followed up, getting into business. "I sent you the revised plan on Facebook. Did you get it?"
There was a collaboration project between the Green Group and Star Group, and the plan was finalized. However, new developments came up this morning, and Mike had been diligently revising the proposal since early dawn, finishing the adjustments only on his way here. For convenience, he sent it directly to Jackson's Facebook.
Jackson nodded, taking his seat at the head of the table. He handed his phone to Terry, who immediately brought up the new plan on the big screen.
As everyone was discussing, the Facebook notification sound suddenly rang out continuously on the screen.
[Reproductive Health Center wants to add you as a friend]
[Infertility Private Hospital wants to add you as a friend]
[Chief Reproductive Scientist requests to add you as a friend]
The phone kept ringing incessantly.
After a strange silence, Mike was the first to spray tea all over the table, coughing loudly.
All the attendees were stunned.
Was Mr. Frane infertile? Knowing such a shocking secret, would they be able to walk out of this meeting room alive?
