Chapter 813

Jackson couldn't believe it. He hoped that she had returned to Miracalia because of him, even if it was just a tiny bit of the reason.

But Lillian knew exactly what he wanted to hear, yet she still shook her head.

"I came back because I have unfinished business in Miracalia! I still can't let go of Taylor's death. I want to make the Price family pay for what they did to Taylor!"

Lillian's voice was cold, and Jackson knew that this was probably the main reason she had returned to Miracalia.

He sighed softly and hugged Lillian tightly.

"I'm Taylor's father. You coming back for Taylor is also for me."

Lillian scoffed lightly, "You sure know how to comfort yourself."

Jackson tilted his head and gently bit her neck, "What can I say? The woman I love always says one thing and means another."

Lillian pushed him away, but her lips curled up slightly.

"I also came back because The Kelly Media was founded by my mom. It means something different to me.

I never got the chance to meet her, so taking over the company she created is a kind of emotional comfort for me.

Besides, I don't want to rush into the Kelly Group headquarters. I'm afraid Ambrose might overthink it."

Jackson was nodding slightly as he listened, but when Lillian mentioned Ambrose, his expression tightened.

"You sure care about Ambrose's opinion."

Lillian could hear the jealousy in his voice.

It seemed like every time Ambrose was mentioned, Jackson's guard went up.

"Of course I care."

Over the years, if it weren't for Ambrose taking care of her grandparents and helping her grandfather, she didn't know how much her grandfather would have suffered.

Anouk was spoiled and selfish, closer to Kenneth and Ruby. Her concern for her grandparents was superficial. Lillian not only trusted Ambrose but also appreciated him.

Her words were straightforward and didn't hide her unusual concern for Ambrose.

Jackson's face darkened, feeling a heavy, suffocating weight in his chest, but he was helpless.

"Alright, alright, you're just trying to annoy me, aren't you?!"

Jackson laughed in frustration, flipped Lillian over, and pinned her to the bed.

Lillian raised her hands, and Jackson immediately grabbed her wrists, pulling them up and pinning them above her head.

Seeing that he was genuinely angry, Lillian quickly lifted her head and kissed Jackson's lips unexpectedly.

Jackson was stunned, and the dark expression on his handsome face instantly disappeared.

He looked down at her, "You think one kiss will fool me? That would make me too easy to please."

Lillian sighed, "What do you want then?"

"Say you care about me more!"

Jackson's voice still carried a hint of frustration.

Lillian was even more exasperated. She gazed at him with her clear eyes.

"It's a different kind of care. How can you compare? Ambrose is like a big brother."

Jackson was satisfied with her answer.

His lips wanted to curl up, but he suppressed it and asked.

"How is it different? Ambrose and Max are the same, both family. I'm the only one who's different, your lover?"

The term "lover" made her face flush, especially since they were in bed, with Jackson pressing down on her.

Lillian's ears burned, her eyes darted around, unable to meet his gaze, and she said angrily.

"You're so vulgar!"

Seeing Lillian's embarrassment, Jackson's lips curled up completely. He wanted to tease her more, but his phone rang.

Jackson had a good idea who was calling. He pinched Lillian's nose and said, "I'll let you off for now."

Jackson got up, took out his phone, and answered the call, putting it on speaker.

"Speak."

Lillian heard a strange middle-aged woman's voice, low as if worried about being overheard.

"Mr. Frane, Star was hit on the head with a cup by Dominic as soon as she walked in. Dominic wanted the bodyguards to lock Star in the basement. It caused quite a commotion. Later, Star cried and begged for something, and Dominic let her go for now. I'm sorry, Mr. Frane, Dominic is very cautious, I didn't dare get too close."

"You did well. Don't rush, keep observing."

Jackson instructed in a deep voice. The person on the other end responded but didn't hang up, seemingly hesitant.

Jackson asked, "Is there something else?"

"It's about Logan. Star's forehead was injured, and she's been throwing tantrums, bossing the servants around. Even the nanny who takes care of Logan was called over. Logan just fell out of his crib and has a big bump on his forehead."

Jackson frowned slightly. Before he could say anything, Lillian sat up abruptly, her voice tense.

"How is Logan? Is he okay?"

The person on the other end was clearly surprised by the sudden appearance of a young woman's voice.

There was a moment of silence, and Lillian realized it was inappropriate to interrupt, but she couldn't help it. Hearing that Logan had fallen made her heart ache.

She had held Logan before, had some interactions with him, and he was as sweet and endearing as Taylor.

Lillian couldn't stay calm or stop worrying, even though she couldn't quite understand her feelings.

Logically, she should dislike Logan.

Not hearing a response, Lillian anxiously pushed Jackson.

Jackson glanced at Lillian and then said, "That was my girlfriend. How is Logan?"

Lillian was surprised that he introduced her as his girlfriend.

The title and identity were new to her. She glared at Jackson but was more concerned about the child, so she didn't argue.

"Logan cried for a long time, his little voice is hoarse. Star found it annoying and had the nanny take Logan away. But Logan should be fine, he doesn't seem to have any bad reactions like vomiting."

Lillian frowned, "Didn't they take him to the hospital for a check-up? Head injuries are serious, especially for such a small baby!"

"Star said that since Logan cried so loudly, he must be fine."

"What about Dominic? He's the child's grandfather, doesn't he care?"

Lillian's voice was already tinged with anger.

Jackson pulled her into his arms, his large hand gently stroking her shoulder.

"Dominic just left the house, he's not home. Although he cares about Logan, he's busy most of the time, leaving the care to the servants and Ms. Price."

Jackson said in a deep voice, "Understood. Go check on Logan. If there's any problem, contact me immediately."

"Yes, Mr. Frane."

After hanging up, Lillian jumped out of bed.

"We need to go check on him. A baby with a bump on his head should get a scan to see if there's any brain injury!

Head injuries can seem fine at first but become serious later. Logan cried until his voice was hoarse. What's wrong with the Price family?!

They insisted Wendy have the baby, but now they don't care and neglect him. It's ridiculous!"
