Chapter 203 Jackson, We Were Even
Jackson's gaze fell on the bank card handed to him, and his eyes turning cold momentarily.
He didn't take the card, instead lifting his gaze to focus on Lillian.
"Is this why you wanted to see me today?" he asked, his voice tinged with suppressed anger.
All along, Jackson had been speculating, wondering if she had a change of heart, and decided not to cause trouble anymore. Or perhaps something had happened to her during this time, such as some injustice she faced that made her seek him out.
He even thought maybe she just missed him.
He anticipated all the way, even urging Terry to drive faster, but he never expected that she would be here to give him the money with Barry by her side.
She really knew how to surprise him.
Jackson was angry, but Lillian showed no fear.
She just wanted to leave quickly, not wanting to see Jackson and Jenny at all.
"That's right. We agreed on five million. Not a penny less here. Go ahead," she urged.
Seeing Jackson not taking it, she tried to stuff it into his hand.
However, Jackson didn't accept it. Instead, he withdrew his hand as if what Lillian was giving him was not a huge sum of five million but a symbol of misfortune.
Lillian frowned. "What do you mean?"
Jackson said coldly, "Lillian, I have said I don't take money of unknown origin."
His gaze hinted at something, sweeping past Barry standing behind Lillian.
He thought Lillian got the money from Barry.
Lillian's pale face flushed instantly as she felt humiliated.
Through her years of hard work, she earned every penny just to return it to Jackson and the Frane Family with dignity.
She didn't want to be looked down upon or pitied as someone supported by the Frane Family, and she didn't want anyone from the Frane Family, like Jenny, to despise and insult her.
However, Jackson belittled all her struggles and efforts.
Without even asking or investigating, he concluded that her money had been earned through shady means.
Lillian's eyes burned with anger as she stared at Jackson. "Every penny was earned by myself! I have records of every transaction, which are clear as day. See for yourself."
Lillian took out a journal from her bag and handed it to Jackson along with the card.
Jackson's face turned sullen, and he still didn't accept it.
Lillian smashed it on him, saying, "Jackson, we're even!"
The accoun book hit Jackson's chest, and the card hit his icy face, both falling to the ground.
Jackson looked gloomy and closed his eyes, filled with anger.
Jenny stared at Lillian in disbelief, saying, "Lillian, you are crazy! You dare to hit Jackson!"
Lillian was definitely the first and last one to hit Jackson with a bank card.
Lillian turned around and said to Barry, "Let's go, Barry."
Barry nodded, and they were about to leave.
However, Jackson suddenly grabbed Lillian's wrist as she passed by him.
Lillian tried to shake his hand off, but Jackson held on tightly, not letting go of her.
Lillian yanked her hand back, ignoring the intense pain in her wrist completely, which turned red quickly.
Jackson looked down and had to let go of her.
Lillian walked away quickly, with Barry trailing behind.
As Barry stopped next to Jackson, he spoke, "I came to visit an elder and ran into Lillian. Besides, please understand the situation and ask Jenny what she did before giving orders, Mr. Frane."
Jackson also looked back at Barry. Their eyes met.
Jackson’s eyes were cold, while Barry’s were mocking and openly provocative.
Amidst their gazes, they almost wished to tear each other to pieces.
