Chapter 765

"What's wrong? I signed the contract, but you all don't seem very happy about it."

Lillian glanced at the stiff expressions on Thalia and Anouk's faces and mocked them.

Thalia immediately laughed, "How could that be? Ms. Kelly, you really impressed me."

Anouk also forced a smile and dryly said, "Congratulations."

Lillian pulled back the contract, not bothering to look at their sour faces, and asked, "Now that the contract is signed, am I fully in charge of this project, Ms. Fairchild?"

Thalia nodded with a smile, "Of course, you will also be responsible for assembling the project team."

"When I took on this project, Ms. Fairchild said it was very important for the company's development. Given that, does the project have priority? Can I choose anyone I want?"

"Of course."

Those words were indeed Thalia's own, so she could only nod.

Lillian had asked everything she needed to and didn't delay any further. She nodded and turned to leave.

As the office door closed, Thalia and Anouk's faces fell, especially Anouk, whose features twisted in frustration.

Lillian returned to her workstation and walked over to two people sitting to the east of her desk.

"Quincy Carroll, Briar Sinclair, I just signed the contract to host Star Group's tenth-anniversary event. Would you like to join the project team?"

Quincy and Briar turned around, clearly not expecting Lillian to invite them, especially for the Star Group event, which surprised them even more.

Over there, Doris was filing her nails, keeping an eye on Lillian's movements.

She had thought Lillian would come out crying after being scolded by Thalia, but things turned out completely different from what she expected.

Doris immediately stood up and walked over.

"Lillian, did you just say the Star Group project? Wasn't that supposed to be signed with HorizonHive Media?"

Doris looked astonished; she had already spread the news of the failed signing within the department.

Lillian raised an eyebrow, "Do you need me to show you the signed contract?"

Doris was surprised, but securing the contract and participating in such a project would benefit her greatly.

Doris quickly changed her expression, linking arms with Lillian and saying, "Lillian, you're amazing! How did you do it? By the way, when are we having the project meeting? I need to prepare."

Lillian pulled her arm away, "Sorry, our project team meetings don't welcome unrelated people."

Doris was stunned, "What do you mean? I'm part of the project team. I was with you yesterday..."

Lillian interrupted her, "Ms. Fairchild values this project highly and told me to select the most capable people from the department. Unfortunately, I didn't see any capability in you yesterday, unless gossiping counts as a skill."

Doris's face turned extremely ugly, especially with everyone watching.

She had indeed said a lot about the project's failure this morning, blaming Lillian for it.

Doris's face turned red with embarrassment, and she huffed, "Who cares." She turned and went to the break room with her water cup.

Lillian turned back to Quincy and Briar. She had observed her colleagues over the past two days.

Both were quiet and diligent, capable and not troublemakers.

Yesterday, Lillian was so focused on the proposal that she didn't get water, and Briar silently brought her a cup while getting water for herself.

Quincy and Briar didn't hesitate much and agreed. Lillian planned to add more members to the project team gradually.

They had a brief discussion, and it was time to leave work.

Lillian had arranged to accompany Shirley to a blind date at noon.

Coincidentally, Shirley had also come to the company in the morning. Her agent had arranged for her to sign two scripts.

They met in the parking lot, and Lillian got into Shirley's car, smiling as she asked, "Did you sign smoothly? How are the scripts? By the way, are you getting along with your agent? If not, you have to tell me."

If Shirley didn't like the agent, Lillian would find her a new one.

Shirley's agent was Felicity, a top agent at The Kelly Media. Felicity was quite capable and efficient.

She had quickly found two roles for Shirley, but Shirley didn't find them suitable after reading the scripts.

One was the lead female role in a BL adaptation, and the other was the second female lead in an idol drama.

Both were S-level productions, and given Shirley's current fame, getting such roles was a testament to her agent's skills.

But the lead female role was just a token character added to pass censorship, and Shirley found the script disappointing.

The second female lead in the idol drama overlapped with a role that had recently made Shirley popular, and taking on such a role again could typecast her.

Moreover, the second female lead was a stunningly beautiful and cold character, which didn't match Shirley's cute and sweet appearance.

She turned down both roles. Felicity didn't make things difficult for her but asked her to accompany her to a dinner with a famous director in a few days to vie for another role.

Since she didn't like the roles Felicity chose, Shirley couldn't refuse and had agreed.

But she didn't want to tell Lillian about this. Lillian had already helped her a lot.

Lillian's stepmother, Ruby, now managed The Kelly Media, and Shirley always felt Ruby wasn't a good person.

Shirley didn't want Lillian to ask Ruby for help because of her.

"Everything's fine. Don't forget, I signed an A-level contract with The Kelly Media, which gives me a lot of autonomy. Don't worry."

Hearing this, Lillian felt relieved. "If anything comes up, you must tell me."

"Got it, got it."

Shirley's blind date was at a private restaurant with a lot of privacy and a serene environment.

Lillian and Shirley entered the restaurant a bit early, and the blind date hadn't arrived yet.

Shirley was still bare-faced, and Lillian urged her to at least put on some light makeup, so Shirley went to the restroom.

Lillian sat alone by the window, took out her phone to play, and saw that Jackson had sent her another message.

It was another photo.

Lillian opened it and saw Jackson's familiar office. Apparently, Jackson was having a simple lunch alone in his office.

On the table were a few simple nutritious meals, and across the table, a teddy bear sat quietly.

The scene was filled with a sense of loneliness.

Jackson: [Only it keeps me company.]

Seeing Jackson's heartfelt message, Lillian's lips curled up.

She was about to reply when a young, pleasant male voice suddenly sounded beside her.

"Sorry I'm late. I hope this flower can make up for it, Ms. James?"

As the voice fell, a rose with morning dew was presented in front of Lillian.

Lillian was taken aback. She looked up from her phone and saw the man standing beside her.

Not far away, Mike and two middle-aged men were about to enter a private room. He turned his head and saw this scene.

He greeted his partners, signaled his secretary to take them inside, and lagged behind to take a photo of Lillian and sent it to Jackson.
