Chapter 237 She Took the Initiative to Find Him
Jeffrey secretly recorded the scene where Jackson was angry in the living room of Golden Oaks Manor.
Lillian watched as Daisy's friends, angry and humiliated by Jackson, made an awkward exit. She had mixed feelings.
Mrs. Cole and the other two were Daisy's card game partners, who used to visit the Frane family as well.
Every time they visited Golden Oaks Manor, Daisy would specifically call for Lillian.
Even though Golden Oaks Manor had servants to perform such tasks like pouring water, offering fruit, and tidying up the table, Daisy always instructed Lillian to do it, with Mrs. Cole and others joining in for fun.
They treated Lillian like a servant, despite her being only about 18 four years ago, making her an easy target for bullying.
At the time, Lillian wanted to spend her life with Jackson, so she dared not upset Daisy; hence, she was often at her beck and call.
Seeing Jackson stand up for her and vent his anger on her behalf did bring some joy to Lillian.
Lost in thought, Lillian was startled by her ringing phone. Seeing Jeffrey calling, she hurriedly answered.
"Lillian, is it true that you're divorcing Jackson?" Jeffrey asked anxiously.
Lillian frowned slightly due to the noisy background on the phone, including car honks.
"Don't ask so many questions about our matters. Haven't you slept well? Why is it so noisy over there?" Lillian asked.
"I'm on my way to see you. I should be there soon. Oh no! My phone is running out of battery. I'll talk to you later," Jeffrey answered.
Just as Lillian was worried, Jeffrey abruptly hung up the phone.
Lillian hastily got out of bed and tried calling Jeffrey back, but his phone was already switched off and unreachable.
She quickly changed clothes and rushed out of the house.
She had recently moved to a new place, and Jeffrey had no idea about it.
As she left the community, she called Tina, suspecting that Jeffrey might have gone to the Peace Mansion.
Tina quickly responded, "Mrs. Frane, Jeffrey came looking for you once before. I told him you don't live at the Peace Mansion now, so he probably won't come here."
Frowning, Lillian asked Tina to inform her immediately if she had seen Jeffrey.
After hanging up, Lillian looked out of the car window at night and felt a headache coming on.
Although Jeffrey was quite clever, he was still just an eight-year-old child who was usually well-protected by the Franes.
Daisy would definitely not approve of him coming out late at night looking for her.
He was most likely sneaking out on his own, which was a cause for concern.
After a moment of hesitation, Lillian called Jackson, who was still in the office at that time.
The phone rang, but Jackson didn't pay much attention, assuming it was York calling again.
Just when he thought it had stopped, the ringing resumed. A flicker of anger flashed through Jackson's eyes.
As his gaze fell on the screen, the anger dissipated, replaced by a hint of disbelief.
Lillian had actually taken the initiative to contact him.
Jackson's breathing quickened slightly as he answered the call, "Lillian?"
The first call didn't go through, and she didn't expect Jackson to answer so quickly when she called again.
Moreover, she sensed a sense of urgency in his voice.
It seemed like he valued this call greatly.
She was momentarily speechless, and then his voice, softer this time, filled her ears. "What's wrong? Is something wrong?"
