Chapter 80 Keeping It from Jackson

Veins pulsed in Jackson's temples as he declared, "It's great that you know that!" A pang of regret shot through Lillian's heart. She shook off his hand, her voice heavy with remorse, "It's a pity, I've disappointed you." Jackson released her hand, taking a step back, creating a physical distance that mirrored their emotional divide. Just as Lillian began to feel a sense of relief, it was abruptly shattered. She watched as Jackson turned to Terry, issuing a command, "Fetch the doctor." His suspicion was not easily allayed; he didn't believe her words. Terry responded immediately, and the female doctor who had just examined Lillian was quickly at his side. Lillian stood rooted to the spot, watching the doctor approach. A chill crept into her heart, encasing it in a layer of ice. "Doctor, she's experiencing some stomach pain. Could you please examine her again?" Jackson interjected, stepping forward before the doctor could get any closer. His cunning was evident. Most doctors would instinctively rush to the patient upon hearing such a plea. Lillian's palms were slick with sweat as she lowered her gaze. "Why is your stomach hurting? Weren't you fine just now? Where does it hurt? Stop standing and go sit down, I'll check," the doctor instructed, reaching out to guide Lillian. However, Lillian quickly released her clenched fist, stepping forward with an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry, there's been a misunderstanding. I've wasted your time. She's fine," she assured the doctor, gesturing to Amelia who nodded in agreement. The doctor looked puzzled but accepted their explanation. Turning to Jackson, Lillian asked, "Mr. Jackson, are you satisfied now?" Jackson's expression remained stern, but his doubts seemed to have been mostly dispelled. He nodded at the doctor, echoing Lillian's apology, "Sorry for the misunderstanding." Once the doctor had left, Jackson turned his attention back to Lillian. "Terry will escort Ms. Amelia, and I'll take you back," he offered. "No need!" Lillian said coldly, supporting Amelia as they walked away. Inside the elevator, as the doors closed, she felt a wave of fear and panic washing over her.

"Lillian, are you okay?" Amelia asked, her voice laced with concern. Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Lillian shook her head at Amelia, "Thank you." "It's nothing. You see, I told you my acting skills are good, and I can keep a secret. Your husband is so handsome, but I just can't believe that such a handsome man could do something like that to his child," Amelia mused. Lillian bit her lip, his cold words still echoing in her ears, "If you get pregnant, I'll arrange for an abortion," as if the baby was nothing more than trash he could dispose of at will. Her face turned pale, while Amelia continued to chatter. "Fortunately, you saw your former colleague and were prepared, and we also consulted a doctor in advance, who was also good at acting," Amelia said. By the time they exited the elevator, Lillian had regained her composure and carefully supported Amelia. They hailed a taxi and left, with Jackson also departing in his car. Terry sat in the driver's seat, unable to discern Jackson's thoughts. He didn't know if Ms. Lillian was pregnant or not, and he didn't know if the president was pleased or displeased. After the day's farce, he was hesitant to speak. "Go check on that Amelia," Jackson instructed. "Understood," Terry responded. "Let's head back to the office," Jackson decided. Upon Jackson's return to the office, Amelia's personal information had already been reported. "Amelia is indeed married, in a secret marriage with a third-tier male celebrity. She and Shirley were classmates, and Ms. Lillian probably became friends with Amelia through Shirley," the report revealed. All this information was accurate, and Jackson's last trace of doubt was dispelled. However, he would come to regret this day countless times. He had been so close to the truth.
