Chapter 704

Lillian froze, her mind flashing back to the flower she had accidentally stepped on. She never expected that Jackson had made it himself.

"What are you mumbling about?" Jackson saw Terry leaning in close to Lillian, whispering something, and he walked over.

Lillian felt a bit flustered, as if she had discovered a secret and was caught by Jackson. She instinctively stepped back, trying to distance herself from Terry. But she stumbled over the hospital bed and almost fell.

Terry was startled and quickly reached out to grab Lillian, but Jackson was faster, pulling Lillian into his arms. His cold gaze seemed to pierce through Terry's outstretched hand.

Terry quickly withdrew his hand. "I'll go ask the doctor which supplements are suitable," he said this and immediately turned and ran out.

Jackson looked down at Lillian in his arms. "What were you talking about with Terry?"

Lillian felt inexplicably guilty. "Nothing much, just a few casual words."

Jackson asked out of jealousy, "Why do you need to be so close for a few casual words? And you always seem to have endless things to talk about with him."

Jackson was genuinely a bit jealous because he noticed that Lillian now seemed closer to Terry than to him.

It seemed like she considered Terry a friend, while he didn't even qualify as that.

Lillian looked at Jackson's undisguised jealous eyes, and her heart felt a sharp, painful sting.

"Lillian, how's it going?" A familiar voice came from the doorway, and Lillian turned to see Ambrose striding in.

Ambrose's gaze fell on Jackson and Lillian, who were close together, and finally, he looked at Lillian with a questioning expression.

Lillian then realized she was still in Jackson's arms. She quickly pulled away and walked towards Ambrose. "Max woke up. But now he's asleep again."

Ambrose smiled, "That's great news. We should tell Grandpa and Grandma as soon as possible. They'll be very happy to hear this."

"I'll make the call." Lillian took out her phone and walked out.

Ambrose then looked at Jackson. "Our Family owes you a great debt for what you did for Max. Mr. Frane, if you ever need anything or have any requests, feel free to tell us."

Jackson scoffed lightly, "Taking care of my wife's brother is not a debt."

Ambrose's expression darkened. "Lillian is no longer your wife!"

"An ex-wife is still a wife," Jackson said, his face unchanged.

Ambrose glanced at him. "Mr. Frane, I admire your ability to deceive yourself."

Jackson smirked, "What identity are you using to say this to me? As the adopted grandson of the Kelly Family, Lillian's brother, or something else?"

Ambrose and Jackson locked eyes, both with sharp gazes.

Jackson sneered. "Mr. Kelly, You're better at deceiving yourself than I am."

Ambrose understood Jackson's meaning. If he was speaking as Lillian's brother, he shouldn't act like a rival in love. If he was acting as a rival, did Lillian acknowledge it?

Ambrose withdrew his gaze, said nothing more, and turned to leave the room.

When he came out, Lillian had just finished her call with Oberon and was about to return to the room.

Seeing Ambrose coming over, she smiled and walked quickly to him, "Ambrose, there's nothing much here. I can stay, you go ahead with your work."

Ambrose nodded slightly and reminded her, "Don't overwork yourself. Let me know if you need anything."

Lillian waved her hand. "Got it."

She smiled as she walked past Ambrose, but he paused and grabbed her arm.

Lillian turned back in surprise, her eyes questioning.

Ambrose looked at her deeply and asked, "Did you two make up just now? Did you forgive him?"

Lillian was taken aback, realizing he had misunderstood when he saw her in Jackson's arms earlier.

She quickly shook her head. "How could that be? I almost fell, and he just helped me."

Lillian paused, as if speaking to Ambrose and also emphasizing to herself, "Seeing him reminds me of Taylor. It's impossible between us, forever."

Her voice was resolute, and her eyes were as determined as ever.

But Ambrose knew it wasn't that simple.

In the past, if Jackson had held her, she would have pushed him away immediately, her rejection evident in her body language.

But just now, she had leaned into Jackson's arms, and they had even looked into each other's eyes.

Ambrose had never seen the same kind of emotion in Lillian's eyes when she looked at him as she did when she looked at Jackson.

Ambrose suppressed his sadness, just patted Lillian's head, and then turned to leave.

Max's room was just a few steps away. Lillian turned to the door but found it wasn't fully closed. She didn't mind, pushed the door open, and was startled.

Jackson was standing right at the door, his lips tightly pressed, his eyes deep and dim, his face looking particularly grim.

Lillian's heart skipped a beat, unsure if he had heard her conversation with Ambrose.

Her fingers curled slightly, and she stepped aside. "Are you leaving? Thank you, I..."

Before she could finish, Jackson grabbed and pulled her wrist forcefully.

Lillian cried out in surprise, and before she knew it, her back was pressed against the door, trapped in Jackson's chest.

She looked up at him in shock, about to ask him to move, but Jackson spoke first, "Impossible forever?" His voice was hoarse, his chest heaving slightly.

Lillian's attempt to struggle froze, her heart sinking. He had actually heard. But in an instant, she looked at him, her eyes clear and open, "Yes, impossible, so you..."

But before she could finish, Jackson, as if he couldn't bear it any longer, suddenly lowered his head and kissed her.

Lillian didn't expect this sudden move, as he had been pretending so well these past two days.

She widened her eyes, momentarily stunned.

The familiar yet unfamiliar sensation overwhelmed her as Jackson easily pried open her lips, kissing her deeply.

Coming to her senses, Lillian tried to push him away, but Jackson grabbed her hands, intertwining their fingers forcefully.

One of her hands was pressed against the door, while the other was held against his heart.

Lillian felt his strong heartbeat, and she didn't know whether influenced by him or not, her own heart began to race, making her feel panicked and scared.

She bit Jackson hard, the taste of blood quickly filling her mouth.

But Jackson still didn't let go, as if trying to prove something with this kiss, kissing her deeper and harder.
