Chapter 894
Lillian blinked, staring blankly for a couple of seconds before her eyes widened in shock.
She frantically wrapped herself in the blanket, ready to jump out of bed.
"Oh no! Didn't I tell you to set the alarm for 5:30? Why didn't you do it?"
She had planned to wake up at five and sneak back home.
That way, Oberon wouldn't have a clue that she had snuck out last night.
But now it was already 6:40.
Wasn't she completely doomed?
By now, Oberon and Flora were surely already up, maybe even getting ready to leave.
Lillian hurriedly got out of bed, aiming for the bathroom.
But as soon as she took a step, her legs gave out, and she fell forward.
Jackson seemed prepared, catching her smoothly.
In the next moment, Jackson picked her up, his voice laced with amusement.
"Don't rush. It's too late to rush now."
"How can I not rush? It's all your fault!" She shouldn't have let him tempt her into sneaking out last night.
Jackson carried Lillian into the bathroom and set her down on the sink, cupping her face.
"Do you really think we're having an affair, sneaking around like this?"
Lillian blinked, "What do you mean?"
Jackson tapped her forehead with his finger and said, "Just clean up and get ready."
With that, he turned and left, leaving Lillian puzzled.
But it was already late, and Lillian didn't have time to think.
She looked around but couldn't find any clothes to wear, remembering that Jackson had torn her clothes in the heat of the moment last night. They were beyond repair.
She frowned, feeling anxious, when the bathroom door opened again.
Jackson walked in, holding a stack of clothes. On top of the black women's suit were two pieces of delicate lace lingerie, very conspicuous.
Lillian's eyes lit up, but Jackson raised an eyebrow and smiled.
"Need help?"
He said, his long fingers picking up the flimsy fabric and waving it.
Lillian's ears burned. "No! Get out, get out."
She quickly reached out from under the blanket, accurately snatching the lingerie from Jackson's fingers and hiding under the blanket.
Jackson found her reaction amusing and somewhat cute.
"Really don't need help? Aren't you exhausted? Besides, there's nothing on your body I haven't seen."
He had seen it all.
But they had been apart for a long time, and last night was their first time together again.
Last night, the bedroom was lit by a single ambient light, but now the room was brightly lit, and Lillian was too embarrassed to let Jackson help her change.
She glared at him. "Get out! Who said I'm exhausted? I can do it myself!"
Jackson's smile faded slightly, his deep eyes flashing dangerously.
"Seems like I was too gentle last night?"
Gentle? Last night, he was insatiable and excessive! He showed no mercy, and Lillian suspected that if she hadn't cried and begged him to stop, he would have kept going until dawn.
Seeing Jackson now, refreshed and full of energy, while she looked tired and worn out with dark circles under her eyes, Lillian felt like she had been seduced by a male succubus.
She angrily picked up the tissue box and threw it at Jackson.
Jackson caught it effortlessly, placed it back, and stepped forward.
The scent of sandalwood from Jackson's body enveloped her, and Lillian's face showed a plea for mercy.
"Stop messing around, I really can't take it."
She instinctively shrank back, genuinely afraid he would act recklessly again.
But in the next moment, Jackson bent down slightly, only to hold her small feet dangling in mid-air.
Then, he brought his hand from behind, revealing a pair of slippers.
He gently put the slippers on her feet, then stepped back, looking at her with a teasing smile.
"Lillian, I'm just helping you put on your shoes."
Lillian was speechless.
His teasing gaze made her feel like she was the one with a dirty mind, expecting something else.
Lillian felt both embarrassed and annoyed; her cheeks heating up.
Jackson found her reaction even more amusing; his eyes filled with deeper laughter.
He gently rubbed her head. "I'll use the other bathroom. Call me if you need anything."
Lillian nodded quickly, and Jackson left.
Lillian quickly got ready and came out of the bathroom to find Jackson waiting.
Jackson was dressed in a perfectly tailored black three-piece suit; even his tie was a dark gray with subtle patterns. Though he often wore black, it was unusual for him to be dressed entirely in dark colors.
Lillian looked at her own black outfit and realized, surprised, "Are you going to the cemetery too?"
Jackson stepped forward, wrapping his arm around her waist.
"Of course. Don't you want to introduce me to your mom?"
Lillian, held by Jackson, walked towards the elevator, looking conflicted.
"Maybe you shouldn't come today, I…"
She was worried because she hadn't discussed it with Oberon. Today was supposed to be a family visit to the cemetery.
Oberon hadn't fully accepted Jackson, and Lillian feared bringing him along might upset Oberon.
She didn't want any conflict.
But before she could finish, Jackson interrupted, "Do you really think I'm just a secret lover?"
Lillian was speechless.
The elevator doors opened, and Jackson led Lillian inside. She looked at Jackson's reflection in the elevator walls.
"No, but…"
Before she could finish, Jackson cut her off.
"No buts." He pulled her into his arms, and Lillian looked up at him.
Jackson's eyes were gentle. "Lillian, if you don't let me spend time with your grandfather, I'll never earn his approval and forgiveness. Trust me."
Lillian thought about it and realized he was right.
So she nodded slightly, "But if my grandfather gets angry, you can't get mad too."
Jackson's lips curved slightly. "Didn't I handle things well yesterday?"
Lillian puffed her cheeks, unable to argue.
The elevator stopped, and Jackson led Lillian out to the car.
He drove, and as the car left the hotel, it turned away from the direction of the old house.
Lillian was surprised. "Aren't you taking me home?"
Jackson handed her his phone. "Didn't you say you were leaving at seven? We'll go straight to the cemetery."
Lillian's phone had been turned off and taken by Jackson last night. She turned it on now.
It was already 7:10.
She thought Oberon would be furious and call her many times.
But she found several missed calls, none from Oberon or Ambrose, just colleagues and friends.
There were five or six calls from Kenneth.
No calls from Oberon or Ambrose. Lillian looked at Jackson.
Jackson gave her a loving look. "It's about an hour's drive to the cemetery. You didn't sleep enough, right? Rest a bit, I'll wake you when we get there. Or do you want to eat something first?"
He glanced at the rearview mirror, indicating, "I had some light breakfast packed. It's in the back if you're hungry."
Lillian, sleep-deprived, didn't feel hungry.
Seeing Jackson's calm demeanor, she relaxed, closed her eyes, and curled up.
"Then I'll sleep a bit more."
As soon as she spoke, the seat reclined back, just as they reached the intersection.
Jackson leaned over, grabbed a thin blanket, and gently covered her.
Lillian closed her eyes, enjoying Jackson's tender care, her lips curving into a slight smile.
