Chapter 405 Apologize to Lillian

Lillian led Jeffrey out of the treehouse. When Daisy saw him, tears welled up in her eyes, and she shouted for him to come down quickly.

But Jeffrey took a step back, pressed his lips, and said, "Apologize to Lillian, or I'm not coming down or going back to the hospital."

Daisy's face stiffened. She had bodyguards and medical staff with her. How could she apologize to Lillian in front of everyone?

While Daisy hesitated, Jeffrey turned, about to climb back into the treehouse again. Panicking, she quickly looked at Lillian and said, "I'm sorry."

Lillian looked at Daisy in surprise, then pulled Jeffrey and said, "Alright. Come down and go back to the hospital with the doctors. Everyone's out here looking for you."

Jeffrey pouted but listened to Lillian. He stepped forward and reached out his hand.

Jackson picked Jeffrey up and took him down.

Jeffrey lay on Jackson's shoulder, biting his lip, and said, "Jackson, I'm sorry."

Jackson didn't say anything, just lightly patted the back of Jeffrey's head, then took the blanket from the bodyguard to wrap Jeffrey in it and placed him on the stretcher.

Daisy quickly hugged Jeffrey and instructed the medical staff to check on him. After the check-up, she took Jeffrey back to the hospital. Then, Jackson carried Lillian down from the tree and returned to the Frane Mansion.

Lyra had obviously heard about the incident and was a bit shaken.

Lillian took Lyra back to her room.

Lyra held her hand and said, "Lillian, I just found out that while I was away, Daisy made another mistake and caused you some grievances."

A warm feeling flowed through Lillian's heart. In the Frane family, besides Jackson, she also had many affections for Lyra and Jeffrey, who were the people she was closest to.

Lillian asked Lyra, "Grandma, why does Daisy treat Jackson and Jeffrey so differently?"

Sometimes, Lillian even suspected that there was something wrong with Jackson's background, that he might not be Daisy's biological child.

Lyra fell into memories, held Lillian's hand, and sighed. "It was a long time ago. Actually, Daisy was pregnant with a boy and a girl, both very healthy. However, after more than six months of pregnancy, one of the babies suddenly stopped moving. That child would have been Jackson's sister, but she passed away, even though they were fully developed. The doctor said that they sharing one placenta could lead to uneven blood supply, causing competition. So, Daisy blamed Jackson for it."

Lillian was incredulous. "How could Daisy blame Jackson for that? Losing one baby should have made her cherish the other even more, right? Besides, the stillbirth could have been due to her not resting well. Or it could have been a genetic defect in the female fetus from the start. It shouldn't be blamed on Jackson."

"You're right. We have all tried to convince Daisy with such reasons, but sometimes people's thoughts are just strange. During the painless induction, Daisy was awake the whole time. Seeing the female fetus with her eyes must have traumatized her, making her irrational."

Lillian touched her belly, her heart skipping a beat. She felt some sympathy for Daisy. Losing a fully formed baby was too cruel for any mother.

Lyra continued, "During Daisy's recovery, she found out Martin was cheating, and she developed postpartum depression. When Jackson was two months old, he had a fever and cried at night. If the maid hadn't discovered it in time, Daisy might have smothered him. That's when Jackson's grandpa and I took him to raise him ourselves."

Lillian had always wondered why Daisy didn't raise Jackson herself. Now, she understood.

Lyra sighed. "During that time, Daisy's condition was quite severe. She saw many psychologists, but nothing helped. It was the Price family's child who slowly helped her recover."

"Star?" Lillian was surprised again.

"Yes. Star was born on the same day as Jackson. Daisy treated Star as her daughter, and that's why they celebrated their birthdays together every year."

Lillian thought, 'So, Jackson's feelings for Star are like those for a sister. He has mentioned before that Star took care of him like a sister. It's true.'

Lillian guessed. "Grandma, since Star didn't come back, has Daisy been blaming Jackson? Is that why their relationship has been so strained all these years?"

With a painful expression, Lyra nodded. "Not just that. Daisy was very foolish. During Jackson's disappearance, she got pregnant again. When Jackson finally returned alive, he had severe physical and psychological issues, refusing to eat or drink, but Daisy only cared about her pregnancy. It was all destiny. One night, Daisy came out to get water and saw Jackson standing on the balcony. Jackson was so thin that she didn't recognize him and got so scared. She fell down the stairs and miscarried. Their relationship became even more strained. When Daisy finally gave birth to Jeffrey, she cherished him greatly. Now that Jeffrey is sick, she has become even more obsessive."

Martin's infidelity made Lyra feel she hadn't raised him well, so Lyra was both resigned and forgiving towards Daisy's mistake.

Lyra was at a loss with Daisy. She patted Lillian's hand to comfort her. "Lillian, don't mind Daisy."

Lillian nodded, feeling a bit emotional.

Lyra continued, "Lillian, all these years, the most pitiful one is Jackson. He did nothing wrong but bore too much. He has parents but never truly experienced motherly love. The incident with Star wasn't his fault, but he was blamed for it. He seems young and has everything, but the burden of responsibility and guilt is the hardest to bear. Jackson is the one who should feel the most aggrieved, but he feels he has no right to be. He keeps everything to himself and bears it alone. After the incident with Star, Jackson stopped smiling. It was you who made him happy again. I'm getting old, and my health isn't good. I don't know how much longer I can be with you. I hope you can support each other and get better and better, understand?"

When Jackson received Lillian's call, he was in the study handling business. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "I'm at home. You are with Grandma, aren't you? Why did you suddenly call?"
