Chapter 624

Lillian gripped her hands tight, fighting the urge to storm in and grill Jackson.

The study.

Jackson's good looks were clouded with a dark vibe, his brows furrowed in pure rage.

It was a heavy mix of guilt and regret, way more than just plain old hate.

Out of nowhere, his heart skipped a beat. He motioned for Harry to zip it, got up, and yanked the door open.

But the hallway was empty, not a soul around.

Still on edge, Jackson made a beeline for the bedroom.

When he swung open the bedroom door and saw Lillian lying there, all peaceful, with her slippers untouched by the bed, he finally relaxed and shut the door.

For a long while after the door closed, Lillian didn't budge an inch.

Only when she was sure Jackson was gone did she gasp for air and curl up on her side.

That was when it hit her how terrified she was of Jackson finding out.

She'd been holding her breath the whole time, almost passing out.

Her breathing was fast, and Lillian worried Jackson might hear it.

She rolled up her pajama sleeve and bit down hard on her arm.

She really despised him!

Even now, Jackson was still trying to cover up the truth and fool her!

He never planned to avenge Taylor.

Of course, once he dug into the Price family, everything would just stop.

Lillian could already guess his next move. He'd tell her they hadn't found the culprit yet, dragging it out until she felt better.

By the time she was charmed by him again, maybe even pregnant, and started to forget about Taylor, this whole thing might just fade away.

But the pain of losing a child, stabbing her heart day and night, how could she forget?

Violet noticed Lillian was extra sleepy today. She went upstairs twice in the afternoon, and Lillian was still out cold.

Thinking Lillian had just gone through a tough labor and was weak, it wasn't weird for her to sleep more, so she let her be.

By almost 4 PM, Lillian still hadn't gotten up. Worried she'd have trouble sleeping at night if she napped any longer, Violet rushed upstairs to wake her.

"Mrs. Frane, I whipped up some desserts. Get up and have a bite. I'll go grab some groceries later and cook you a nice dinner tonight."

Violet smiled, placing the fresh desserts on the bedside table and helping the groggy Lillian sit up.

Lillian rubbed her eyes and asked, "Where's Jackson?"

Violet was caught off guard for a sec, then beamed and quickly said, "Not long after you dozed off, Mr. Frane went out, but he'll definitely be back for dinner with you."

Violet was Jackson's gal, naturally rooting for Lillian and Jackson to patch things up.

After looking after Lillian for two days, she noticed Lillian was giving Jackson the cold shoulder. Surprisingly, Jackson didn't get mad; he stayed caring, gentle, and attentive towards Lillian.

Violet thought Lillian didn't appreciate the good thing she had right in front of her.

Seeing Lillian finally asking about Jackson, she figured Lillian might be having a change of heart.

She wanted to nudge her more, thinking if Lillian really did come around, it would be thanks to her efforts.

"Mrs. Frane, you can have another kid. Mr. Frane is so good to you, there's no worry about not having kids in the future. Take good care of yourself. You're so young, maybe the baby will come next year. If you're so cold to Mr. Frane, you're just giving other women a shot. That's a real losing game. By the way, is there anything you'd like to eat tonight? I'll go out and grab it for you later. Have a nice meal with Mr. Frane and talk things out."
