Chapter 576

Seren got hit in the gut with a bullet, but lucky for her, Harry showed up just in time, so it wasn't too bad.

After some chill time to heal up, she was mostly back to normal. But when Lillian came to get her, she still looked kinda wiped, so she skipped out on dinner with Lillian.

Seren took off in her car, and then Lillian hopped in with Jackson.

The backseat was roomy, but Jackson was all up in Lillian's space, even though she was squished against the door.

"Can you scoot over?" Lillian snapped, not hiding her annoyance.

Jackson just stared at her. Seeing her cold expression, he wanted to drag Mike out and give him a piece of his mind.

It had been a week since he last saw Lillian, and he missed her like crazy. But she was still giving him the cold shoulder. Mike's advice was a total bust.

"My legs are too long," Jackson said, spreading them out again, his thigh pressing against Lillian's hip.

At six foot three, no backseat was big enough when he decided to sprawl out.

Lillian gritted her teeth and shot him a half-smile. "I know your legs are long. No need to show off."

Jackson didn't say anything but pulled his legs back a bit, giving her some space. But then, out of nowhere, he yanked her onto his lap.

Lillian was fuming. "What the hell are you doing?"

Jackson's face turned serious, raising an eyebrow. "This way, it's not cramped."

Lillian was speechless and tried to wriggle free, but Jackson wrapped his arms around her, his face buried in her shoulder. "Did you miss me at all?"

His hot breath tickled her ear, and his voice was low and rough, full of pent-up feelings.

Lillian froze, her heart racing.

What he said in Max's hospital room had stuck with her.

All week, she'd been dreaming about their childhood, Jackson learning to tie her hair and teaching her to ride a bike.

During the day, she couldn't stop thinking about him.

But she wasn't about to admit it. Just as she was about to speak, Jackson lifted his head, staring at her.

"Forget it, don't say it. Even if you do, I won't believe you. I'll find out for myself."

Before she could react, Jackson grabbed her chin and kissed her hard.

He pried her mouth open, kissing her with urgency.

Lillian realized what was happening and bit down on his lip. The taste of blood filled her mouth, and Jackson pulled back, eyes wide.

"Don't push your luck!" she snapped.

Jackson wiped the blood from his lip, looking more amused than angry. "Mrs. Flora Kelly's got it wrong. You shouldn't keep your distance from me because of what she said. Besides, it's too late for that now."

Lillian shoved him away and scooted to the side.

"It's not too late. We're divorced, remember? And Mrs. Flora Kelly has great judgment. She and Mr. Oberon Kelly had a love story for the ages!"

Jackson let her go, pressing a tissue to his bleeding lip. "After the divorce, you won't have any ties to the Frane family. You'll just be Lillian, the woman I want to chase, love, and marry."

Lillian's hand tightened slightly as she listened to his deep, sincere words.
