Chapter 828
As the Price family father and daughter walked in from outside, Jackson happened to be coming down the stairs with Lillian.
Jackson was tall and elegant, exuding a noble aura, while Lillian, beside him, was lazily beautiful, like a delicate flower.
Even Dominic had to admit they made a perfect couple.
Star had initially thought only Jackson was there and was pleased that he had allowed the bodyguards to let them in.
She had already planned how to use Logan's sleep and the possibility of him waking up in the middle of the night to stay at the Peace Mansion.
Once she stayed, it would be normal for something to happen between them, given the circumstances.
Even if nothing happened, Star could create the illusion that something did.
But before she could put her plan into action, she saw someone unexpected in the Peace Mansion.
It was Lillian.
Why was Lillian here so late? And seeing their outfits, Star's heart sank.
Jackson's shirt was half-wet, and his suit pants were stained with dark patches, looking slightly disheveled.
Lillian was wearing a bathrobe, tightly wrapped but still revealing her bare legs, hinting at what was underneath.
They looked like they had just come out of a steamy, intimate moment.
Star's eyes reddened with jealousy and anger.
She had sensed a change in Jackson and Lillian's relationship, but hadn't Lillian hated Jackson?
How had they gotten so close so quickly?
Especially thinking about how she had been stuck in the police station, being reprimanded by officers, while Lillian was with Jackson, Star's smile turned ugly and twisted.
"Jackson, my dad and I are here to take Logan home," she said to Jackson, then turned to Lillian. "Lillian, you're here so late too."
Dominic's face showed no reaction, just a brief glance at Lillian before he sighed and spoke to Jackson.
"Jackson, I had an important meeting today and only found out about Logan's incident afterward. I feel so foolish for not realizing that someone like Celine had infiltrated our home, causing Logan such distress. I really need to thank you."
Dominic's expression was sincere, his eyes slightly red, full of guilt and pain for Logan's suffering.
Lillian couldn't tell if Dominic had truly neglected Logan.
After all, Logan was his grandson, the only bloodline of the Price family.
Maybe Dominic was just old and trusted Star too much.
As Lillian thought this, Jackson's cold voice interrupted.
"If you really want to thank me, shouldn't there be some substantial gesture?"
Dominic was slightly taken aback, not expecting Jackson, usually so aloof, to make such a request. After all, Jackson lacked nothing."Jackson, what do you mean?"
"You said you wanted to thank me properly. Without a substantial gesture, how is that proper thanks?"
"I just thought you weren't the type to seek repayment. Given your relationship with Henry and your connection to Star, I assumed you genuinely cared for Logan, not seeking anything else," Dominic retorted, his voice deep and serious.
Lillian watched Dominic, finally understanding where Star's shamelessness came from, smirking, "You say you want to thank him sincerely, but now you won't show any real gratitude and make it seem like asking for a reward is scheming? If that's how you think, why have you morally blackmailed the Frane family for years, wanting them to serve the Price family?"
Lillian was referring to Star's actions over the years. Strictly speaking, Jeckson owed Star nothing. In life-and-death situations, escaping was natural, and there was no obligation to save another. Yet, the Price family had leveraged Jackson's guilt for nearly twenty years. When it came to shamelessness, Lillian truly admired the Price family.
Dominic frowned tightly, his eyes filled with anger as he looked at Lillian. "Lillian, I watched you grow up. How have you become so rude and disrespectful?"
Lillian, under Dominic's reproachful gaze, thought of how he had caused Taylor's death. Why should she respect him? She only wished lightning would strike him down.
"Watch your words. Breaking into my Peace Mansion at night and calling my girlfriend rude and disrespectful? That behavior isn't exactly polite either!" Jackson didn't wait for Lillian to respond, pulling her into his arms, clearly protecting her.
Dominic's face fell, and Star stepped forward. But before she could speak, Dominic replied sternly, "Don't be rude. We are here to thank them."
Star bit her lip and obediently returned to his side, but her gaze at Jackson was filled with resentment.
"Jackson, if you say so, I have nothing more to say. But are you now unwilling to call me godfather?" Dominic's expression was pained, his back bending slightly as if unable to bear the blow.
Jackson's expression was cold, "I never formally acknowledged you as godfather. It was just something I said with Henry. Now that Henry is gone, calling you that might remind you of him, which would be my fault."
Jackson had never formally recognized Dominic as godfather, never given him gifts. Now that he refused, Dominic couldn't argue.
Dominic took a deep breath, "Jackson, you're too harsh and misunderstand the Price family too deeply. But no matter what, we must thank you for Logan's sake. Whatever you ask for, if I can give it, I will. Logan is the only bloodline of the Price family."
