Chapter 493 Lillian's Whereabouts
Ambrose crossed his legs and spoke.
Lillian frowned, a bit surprised. She hadn't anticipated the Price family's continued search for her, much less their intensified efforts after two months.
"What do they want?" she wondered, feeling a chill and her hands trembling slightly.
She was both scared and angry.
Ambrose put down his glass and held her hand, his touch warm. "Don't worry," he said with a reassuring smile. "I've created some obstacles in Valoria to throw them off. They won't find you here."
Lillian's heart calmed, and she nodded. But then she noticed how close they were sitting. The snow was falling outside, and the dimly lit living room felt romantic. It was easy for things to get awkward.
Feeling uncomfortable, Lillian instinctively pulled back. Before she could withdraw her hand, Ambrose let go and stood up. "Oh, I brought you something. It's at the door. I'll go get it," he said, walking out.
He left a suitcase by the door as he witnessed Lillian narrowly avoid a falling flowerpot. A chilly breeze greeted him outside, prompting Lillian to exhale in laughter, realizing she might be overanalyzing.
At the door, Ambrose picked up the suitcase and headed back to the cottage but suddenly stopped. He glanced around at the tranquil, snow-covered path, finding nothing amiss. Then, he sped up and entered the yard.
"Mr. Frane, it's really Ambrose! Mrs. Frane must be here. I'll notify our people right away," Harry's voice came from behind a low wall a few meters away.
In the shadows, a man stood silently, his gaze piercing through the wind, snow, and walls into the house. His gloved hands clenched tightly, restraining his urge to rush in. After two months of searching, he was finally close to finding her.
He didn't want to scare her or make her run further away. He stopped Harry from making the call. "Not yet. Find a place where we can keep an eye on her," he said in a deep voice.
Harry turned back, surprised. "We've finally found Mrs. Frane. Aren't you going to take her now?"
Ambrose had created obstacles in Valoria, diverting Don and his bodyguards. But Jackson wasn't fooled; he knew it was a trap set by Ambrose. He guessed Lillian might have left Valoria and headed to Country N, where she could speak the language.
Jackson had his bodyguards keep a close watch on Country N and eventually discovered Ambrose there. Although Ambrose was cautious and they lost track of him, they had a general idea of Lillian's whereabouts.
Jackson narrowed his options to a few possible places, excluding popular tourist towns, and finally decided the small town was more likely. He brought Harry here, initially taking a chance, but luck was on his side. He found her on this snowy night, feeling it was an excellent start.
"Lillian, I finally found you. Our fate isn't broken, and I won't let it be."
