Chapter 485 Protect

Lillian smiled, realizing she had overthought things.

She thought, 'If a guy likes a girl, he'll call her his sister or lover, not say she reminds him of an elder relative.'

"Yes, she was an elder relative who changed the course of my life. But I thought that after spending time together, we could consider ourselves friends. Nathan also asked me repeatedly to look after you, and I agreed.

"Since I knew you were leaving, I felt it was my responsibility to ensure your safety. If something happened to you, I wouldn't be at peace. It's not difficult for me to arrange for someone to discreetly protect and care for you."

Hearing this, Lillian felt a deep sense of relief.

She thought, even if she might be somewhat charming, she was now a pregnant woman. Someone like Ambrose, who must have seen countless beautiful women, surely wouldn't be interested in her, a pregnant woman.

She expressed her gratitude again and said, "Mr. Kelly, I actually reached out to a friend from college who's studying here. She's already helped me rent a place, so I can just go stay with her."

Lillian had indeed contacted her friend. Without any arrangements, she wouldn't have dared to run away like this while pregnant.

But Ambrose interrupted her. "Since the Price family is still searching for you, you're not completely safe. Going to your friend might bring danger and trouble to her.

"Also, Jackson hasn't given up on finding you. Given his skills, it's only a matter of time before he locates your friend."

Lillian bit her lip, acknowledging that Ambrose had a valid point.

She gripped the phone tightly, hesitating for a moment before asking, "He hasn't given up? Has he caused you any trouble?"

"He searched Aetherwell for a whole day and night and has since returned to Miracalia. You can stay at the place I've arranged for you and let Seren take care of you.

"If you're still worried, how about this: once you're back in the country, you continue dancing at the Kelly Group's troupe as a way to repay me?"

"Sure! That sounds good."

After hanging up, Lillian turned to look out the window, lost in thought.

She had left a letter for Jackson, and her departure was the clearest message she could give.

She thought, 'Jackson is always a proud man, and with Star by his side, there is no need for him to obsessively search for me.

'Is it because of Taylor, or simply because he is unwilling to be the one left behind?

'Regardless of the reason, he shouldn't keep searching indefinitely.

'No one in this world is truly irreplaceable.'

Just as she once thought Jackson was her whole world, she now felt a pang of sadness thinking about him. Yet, she had learned to let go.

Lost in these thoughts, she suddenly felt a peculiar sensation in her abdomen.

It felt as though a little fish had bumped against her belly.

Lillian froze, realizing for the first time she was clearly feeling her baby's movements.

Her eyes welled up, and she instinctively placed a hand on her rounded belly.

"Taylor? Is that you comforting me? You're supporting me, aren't you?"

In Miracalia, Shirley was under the watchful eye of Jackson's bodyguards at the hotel, with a circle of black-clad guards surrounding her.

Shirley didn't resist this time. Still wearing her black evening gown from the party, she lounged on the sofa, casually enjoying her dessert.

As Jackson stormed in, looking worn and grim, Shirley's eyes lit up. She put down her fork and greeted him with a sardonic tone, "Mr. Frane, it seems you've returned empty-handed."

Jackson, in a black coat, stepped up to the sofa.

His tall figure blocked the light, creating a tense atmosphere. He looked down at Shirley, radiating anger.

"Shirley, don't think I won't hurt you! I'll ask one more time, where did she go?"
