Chapter 687
Jackson's dark eyes dropped, zeroing in on her full, rosy lips. His voice came out a bit rough, "Since we're talking laundry fees, let's get it all out there. This isn't the first time I've done your laundry, right? Want to settle up for the past ones too?"
Lillian blinked, surprised. "When did you ever do my laundry?"
She was about to call him out for making stuff up, but then a hazy memory surfaced. Jackson had done her laundry before.
It was her underwear.
She was around eight, nursing a badly injured hand during gym class. The servants usually took care of her clothes, but she was too shy to let them handle her underwear, so she always managed that herself.
With her hand messed up, her underwear sat unwashed for two days and started to stink. She tried to wash it one-handed.
Jackson walked in, saw her soaking her shirt in the process. He frowned, tried to call a servant, but Lillian clung to him, insisting she could do it herself.
She'd only been with the Frane Family for half a year and still felt too out of place to order the servants around. Besides, she had already started washing, and having a servant finish the job would feel like tattling.
Stubborn as ever, she went back to the sink, fumbling with the washing. Finally, Jackson, fed up, pulled her away.
He ended up washing her underwear for about half a month until her hand healed.
Remembering this, Lillian felt a bit out of it.
It felt like a lifetime ago, and she realized she hadn't thought about those old days in forever. Now that she did, she couldn't quite pin down what she felt.
"Looks like you remember," Jackson said softly, noticing her dazed look.
His tone was light, almost like a satisfied sigh.
Lillian snapped out of it, the memories and feelings popping like a bubble.
She pushed Jackson away, yanked all the cash from her wallet, and slapped it against his chest. "Here's all the money I have. Is that enough?"
She started to walk off, and Jackson caught the money, looking down at it.
First time in his life someone had thrown money at him.
The kicker was, it wasn't even a thousand bucks.
He smirked, pocketed the money without a fuss, planning to stash it in his wallet later.
No matter what, it was something Lillian had given him, a piece of their connection.
Jackson stepped forward to follow her.
Outside, Lillian saw the bodyguard still on duty, with two club security guys next to him.
Clearly, the bodyguard had been forced to let Jackson in.
The bodyguard looked uneasy when Lillian came out, but she nodded at him, not making a scene. "Let's go."
The bodyguard followed Lillian for a few steps, and Jackson quickly caught up to walk beside her.
Seeing her glance at the bodyguard, Jackson seemed to know what she was thinking and said, "I had someone handle the surveillance."
Lillian had been about to ask the bodyguard to handle the surveillance, since Star was still lying in the bathroom. When the Price Family came looking, Lillian wouldn't be blamed.
She turned to look at Jackson, her lips moving.
Jackson waved the cash in his hand. "Want to thank me again?"
The polite lie Lillian was about to tell got stuck in her throat. She just looked straight ahead and picked up her pace. "Mr. Frane, stop following me. I..."
Jackson cut her off, "I'm not following you. I'm leaving too, and it looks like this is the only way out."
Lillian was taken aback. His words made her feel like she was being overly dramatic.
She gritted her teeth and walked faster.
In the end, they both ended up in the elevator together. Jackson's presence was too strong to ignore, so Lillian pulled out her phone and opened Twitter for a distraction.
The trending topics were blowing up.
A video of Bianca bragging with her girlfriends in a club's private room had gone viral.
Then there was a clip of Lucy storming into the club and cursing up a storm, which was quite the spectacle.

Did Bianca think an apology would cut it?
Clearly, from the start, Lillian and Shirley had no plans to let Bianca off easy.
Lillian wanted Bianca to feel the wrath of the entire internet.
Horizon Hive Media was a giant in the entertainment world. Even though Lillian had used the Kelly Family's influence, she hadn't expected so many trending topics.
She thought Horizon Hive Media would quickly take them down, but they didn't. Thinking of something, she glanced up at Jackson through the elevator's reflective wall.
Unexpectedly, she met his gaze. Jackson's eyes narrowed slightly, as if asking her what was up.
Lillian hesitated but asked, "The trending topics..."
Jackson raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong with the trending topics?"
He seemed completely unaware. Could it be that he hadn't intervened?
Lillian didn't push it, shaking her head. "Nothing."
The Kelly Family was also making moves in the entertainment industry and had an agency. The Kelly Group's dance troupe was part of its entertainment company.
Although the company was smaller than Horizon Hive Media, it had been growing rapidly in recent years.
Ambrose knew about Shirley's situation, so Lillian figured it must have been his doing.
Lillian looked at the trending topics that kept exploding and the comments flooding in to apologize under Shirley's Twitter, her eyes curving with satisfaction.
Shirley should be really happy now. Lillian thought about calling her.
Shirley had been taken away by Gray, and Lillian was still worried.
But for some reason, Shirley's phone was unreachable.
When the elevator doors opened, Lillian walked out and tried calling again.
She quickly walked out of the club and stood under the porch, waiting for her bodyguard to bring the car around.
A gust of wind blew, and Lillian wanted to pull her coat tighter, but the wind suddenly died down.
She turned her head and saw Jackson standing silently three steps away.
Whether on purpose or not, he was blocking the wind.
Thinking about her earlier self-importance, Lillian didn't say anything, just looked away and kept trying to make her call.
But her second call still didn't go through, so she called the bodyguard she had sent to follow Shirley.
To her surprise, the bodyguard's phone was also unreachable.
Lillian frowned deeply.
With the online uproar, she was worried that Gray and Shirley's conversation hadn't gone well and also concerned about the Porter Family's retaliation.
Shirley wasn't safe right now, and as she grew more anxious, Jackson's deep voice came from beside her. "Do you need me to call Gray?"
Lillian felt helpless.
She really wanted to ignore Jackson, but now she actually needed him to make that call.
