Chapter 782

Lillian immediately felt something was wrong. She thought Oberon must have noticed and become suspicious.

Refusing now would only make things worse.

She immediately smiled and nodded, "Sure."

As Lillian stood up, she frantically waved at Jackson, who was slumped on the bed off-camera, signaling him to quickly hide and leave.

"How about I show you the balcony and the bathroom first?"

She walked backward towards the balcony, smiling.

"Grandpa, Grandma, look, isn't the view outside quite nice?"

Lillian glanced at Jackson on the bed, who was still sitting there with his long legs crossed, looking at her with a half-smile, not in any hurry to move.

He seemed to have no intention of getting up to hide.

Lillian glared at Jackson again. He sat up, but with his arms crossed, looking arrogant, still not planning to move.

Lillian almost wanted to run over and kick him out right then and there.

"This house is in a good location. Shirley is quite capable to have bought such a nice house," Oberon's slightly raised voice came from the phone.

Lillian laughed awkwardly, feeling even more guilty.

How could she have forgotten that Gray's villa had a great location, with a view of Miracalia's landmark buildings from the balcony?

It was clearly a large standalone villa with a big yard, something Shirley couldn't afford with her current income.

As she racked her brain trying to think of a way to dispel Oberon's suspicions, Jackson stood up from the bed and started walking towards her.

Lillian's eyes widened, her heart skipped a beat, and the camera shook a little.

Fortunately, Oberon didn't dwell on how Shirley could afford the mansion and said, "The view is indeed nice. Lillian, turn the camera around so I can get a good look at the room."

"Okay, let me adjust it."

Lillian's voice tightened as she looked at Jackson, who had already walked up to her.

If she adjusted the camera now, it would definitely capture Jackson's incredibly handsome face.

Even though Jackson was quite stunning and pleasing to the eye, Oberon and Flora wouldn't be happy to see him.

Lillian looked at Jackson with pleading and panic in her eyes, but Jackson seemed to be deliberately teasing her childishly.

Seeing her looking pitiful, Jackson turned around and hid against the wall.

Lillian breathed a sigh of relief and quickly adjusted the camera to do a slow sweep of the empty bedroom.

"Grandpa, take a look. If you like this style, I can ask Shirley who the interior designer of this villa is."

Behind Lillian, Jackson quietly opened the balcony door, slipped inside, and disappeared.

Lillian finally relaxed, her voice no longer as tense.

Oberon wasn't really interested in the decor. Seeing that there was indeed no one else in the room, he felt reassured and asked, "Lillian, how have you and Ambrose been getting along lately?"

Lillian smiled, "Of course, very well. You know Ambrose is always grateful for the care you and Grandma have given him. He always takes good care of me and lets me have my way."

Oberon nodded, "I know Ambrose's character. I never worry that he would mistreat you or not take good care of you. Lillian, you know what I'm really asking, right? Don't play dumb with me."

Lillian certainly knew.

Oberon hoped that she and Ambrose would develop feelings for each other and naturally end up together.

She felt a bit helpless, but matters of the heart never made sense.

Ambrose was great, and being with him would probably be as Oberon and Flora wished.

But she just couldn't develop romantic feelings for Ambrose. Maybe her heart had never been truly free.

So, even during those months in Seaspring Valley City when Jackson had completely disappeared from her world, she couldn't fall for anyone else.

After returning to Miracalia, she easily rekindled her old feelings for Jackson.

Lillian felt she was quite pathetic for this, so she really didn't know how to face Oberon and Flora for now.

As she thought about these things, she fell silent for a moment.

Oberon clearly misunderstood this silence, thinking that Lillian and Ambrose really had something going on.

After all, Lillian had always immediately denied it when this topic came up before.

Before Lillian could speak again, Oberon happily said, "Alright, alright, if you don't want to talk about it, we won't ask. You two take your time, and your Grandma and I will wait for the good news."

Flora was also very happy, nodding repeatedly, "Lillian and Ambrose being together is good. I'm very satisfied."

Before Flora could finish speaking, there was a sound of something falling on the balcony.

"Lillian, what was that sound just now?" Oberon asked in surprise.

Lillian's head hurt, and she quickly said, "It must have been the cat knocking over the flower stand."

"Shirley has a cat?"

"It's not Shirley's. It's the neighbor's cat. It likes to wander around and isn't afraid of strangers. It came over earlier for some fish snacks."

"Go over and let me see what this mischievous cat looks like."

Lillian glanced towards the balcony, feeling a headache coming on.

She braced herself and walked towards the balcony, her heart pounding.

Just as she was thinking about pretending to trip and drop the phone, a cat's meow suddenly came from the balcony.

Then there was another sound of something being knocked over and breaking.

Oberon frowned and immediately said, "This cat is too much trouble. Lillian, don't go in. Let the maid clean it up later."

Oberon was worried that Lillian might get scratched by the cat or cut by the broken pieces on the floor.

Lillian stopped and obediently agreed, then chatted a bit more before ending the video call.

As soon as the call ended, Lillian quickly pushed open the balcony door and rushed in.

She wanted to question Jackson about what was going on, whether he found it fun to keep teasing her.

But as soon as she entered, Jackson's long arm wrapped around her waist, and she spun around, her skirt flying in the air.

When she came to her senses, Jackson had already lifted her by the waist, and she instinctively wrapped her legs around his lean waist.

"What are you doing now?" Lillian frowned slightly as their eyes met.
